At design stage of new motor or when taking remedial action of old motor, a lot of information can be obtained from thermal parameters analysis. This study focused on the temperature rise of TEFC induction motor with respect to various thermal parameters. Frame heat transfer had the most important effect on coil temperature rise. But those of air gap and rotor fan had no effect. This fact shows fan action is more important than fin action in the case of rotor fan. Coil temperature can be more decreased by cooling near the heat sources than any other parts from the results of thermal conductivity and loss tests. Variation of cooling air flow rate and motor volume effects on coil temperature were also tested. These tests suggest that improvement of cooling fan performance is important in reducing the coil temperature rise. Thermal equivalent program was verified by comparison of some experimental results.

In the high carbon steel wire drawing process, the wire temperature increases as the drawing speed is faster in order to increase the production rate in the shop floor. The rapid temperature rise causes the wire fracture in the dry wire drawing process. So, in this paper, the isothermal pass schedule program, which includes the calculation method of wire temperature at each pass, is proposed to prevent the wire fracture due to the temperature rise. Using the isothermal pass schedule program, it is newly proposed the pass schedule design system that prevents the cup-cone defects, improves the elongation of the final products and assures further deformation. As a result, the temperature rise of the wire was decreased and the production rate of the final product is remarkably grown up according to the increase of the final drawing speed than that of the conventional process. Also, the proposed pass schedule design system could give a useful information to the process designer who would design the high carbon steel wire drawing process.

In this study, in regard to concrete considering variety of admixture content rate, we evaluated property of adiabatic temperature rise. By setting up high temperature history, we evaluated effect to compression strength property of high strength concrete by early high temperature history. As a result, early high temperature history accelerated Hydration reaction of cement and contribute early strength development but it didn't accomplish performance objective in long-term aged.

For evaluating the feasibility of treating recurrent lesions in the vaginal cuff and cervix by hyperthermia, ultrasound applicators were designed, constructed, and characterized. For the treatment A half-cylindrical transducer Cd=1cm, length=lcm) and cylindrical transducer (d=2.5cm, length= 1.5cm) were used to construct ovoid type and cylindrical applicators. For the ovoid type applicator, each element was operated at 1.5MHz and characterized by measuring transducer efficiency and acoustic power distribution. Thermocouple probes were used to measure the temperature rise in phantom. The element sizes used in this study were selected to be comparable for high dose rate brachytherapy colpostat applicator. Each element was powered separately to achieve a desired temperature pattern in a target. The acoustic output power as a function of applied electric power of the element 1 and 2 was linear over this 1 to 40 W range and efficiencies were 32.2${\pm}$3.4% and 46.2${\pm}$0.8%, respectively. The temperature measurements in phantom showed that 6$^{\circ}C$ temperature rise was achieved at 2 cm from the applicator surface. As a conclusion, the ability of the ultrasound colpostat applicator to be used for hyperthermia was demonstrated by measuring acoustic output power, ultrasound field distribution, and temperature rise in phantom. Based on the characteristics of this applicator, it has the potential to be useful for inducing hyperthermnia to the vaginal cuff in clinic.

Temperature rise characteristics of medium voltage class transformers and dielectric characteristics of its insulation oil according to the loading rate were investigated using the transformer that has thermocouples embedded in the windings. The hottest-spot of the transformer locates at about 2/3 height of the windings where they adjoin each other among the 3 phase windings. The temperature difference between the hottest-spot and top-oil is about $17[^{\circ}C]$ and the value keeps uniformly in short time after changing the loading rate. Capacitance of the oil varies in inverse proportion to temperature and the inclination rate is about -0.0106 that is not dependent on the aging rate. On the other hand the capacitance is increased depending on the aging rate, so the capacitance characteristics of the oil could be applied to the diagnostic technique.
Grain filling is a crucial factor that determines grain yield in crops since it is the final process directly associated with crops' yield performance. Grain filling process can be characterized by the interaction of rate and duration of grain filling. This study was conducted, using 16 temperate japonica rice genotypes, with aims to (1) seek variations in grain filling duration and rate on area basis, (2) compare the contribution of grain filling duration and rate to grain yield, and (3) examine the influence of temperature and solar radiation for effective grain filling on grain yield in relation to grain filling duration and rate. Grain filling rate and duration exhibited highly significant variations in the ranges of $20.7{\sim}46.3\;g\;m^{-2}d^{-1}\;and\;11.2{\sim}35.5$ days, respectively, depending on rice genotypes. Grain yield on unit area basis was associated positively with grain filling duration but negatively with grain filling rate. Grain filling rate and duration were negatively correlated with each other. Final grain weight increased linearly with the rise in both cumulative mean temperature and cumulative solar radiation for effective grain filling. Higher cumulative mean temperature and cumulative solar radiation for effective grain filling were the results of longer grain filling duration, but not necessarily higher daily mean temperature and daily solar radiation for effective grain filling. Grain filling rate demonstrated an increasing tendency with the rise in daily mean temperature for effective grain filling but their relationship was not obviously clear. It was concluded that grain filling duration, which influenced cumulative mean temperature and cumulative solar radiation for effective grain filling, was the main factor that determined grain yield on unit area basis in temperate Japonica rice.

This study examined the mechanical properties and adiabatic temperature rise of low-heat concrete developed based on ternary blended cement using ASTM type IV (LHC) cement, ground fly ash (GFA) and limestone powder (LSP). To enhance reactivity of fly ash, especially at an early age, the grassy membrane was scratched through the additional vibrator milling process. The targeted 28-day strength of concrete was selected to be 42 MPa for application to high-strength mass concrete including nuclear plant structures. The concrete mixes prepared were cured under the isothermal conditions of $5^{\circ}C$, $20^{\circ}C$, and $40^{\circ}C$. Most concrete specimens gained a relatively high strength exceeding 10 MPa at an early age, achieving the targeted 28-day strength. All concrete specimens had higher moduli of elasticity and rupture than the predictions using ACI 318-11 equations, regardless of the curing temperature. The peak temperature rise and the ascending rate of the adiabatic temperature curve measured from the prepared concrete mixes were lower by 12% and 32%, respectively, in average than those of the control specimen made using 80% ordinary Portland cement and 20% conventional fly ash.

This paper addresses a theoretical approach to calculate the amount of the stored energy during high strain-rate deformations using atomistic level simulation. The dynamic behavior of materials at high strain-rate deformation are of great interest. At high strain-rates deformations, materials generate heat due to plastic work and the temperature rise can be significant, affecting various properties of the material. It is well known that a small percent of the energy input is stored in the material, and most of input energy is converted into heat. However, microscopic analysis has not been completed without construction of a material model, which can simulate the movement of dislocations and vacancies. A major cause of the temperature rise within materials is traditionally credited to dislocations, vacancies and other defects. In this study, an atomistic material model for FCC such as copper is used to calculate the stored energy.

High velocity impacts are accompanied with large deformations, which generate a large amount of heat due to plastic works, resulting in a significant temperature rise of the material. Because the elevated temperature affects the dynamic properties of materials, it is important to predict the temperature rise during high-stram-rate deformations. Both existing vacancies and excess vacancies are credited to the stored energy, yet it is difficult to distinguish one from another in contribution to the stored energy using macroscopic level materials models. In this study, an atomistic material model for fee materials such as copper is set up to calculate the stored energy using molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. It is concluded that excess vacancies play an important role for the stored energy during a high-strain-rate deformation.
This study developed a scenario to understand the reaction rate and operational time according to RTI value of rate of rise detector in each type in case of fire mattress. In the results of analyzing the reaction rate and operational time of detector in each scenario, in case when installing a single detector, the elevated temperature per minute was raised to 8℃/min ~ 9℃/min. In case when installing two detectors, it was raised to 9℃/min ~ 10℃/min. In case when installing three detectors, it was raised to 10℃/min. The horizontal distance between detector and mattress was 1.8m~2.5m. Whenever the number of detectors was increased, the horizontal distance was decreased. The operational time of detector was within maximum 540 seconds and minimum 420 seconds. As the research tasks in the future, there should be the researches on the effects of reaction rate of detector on the evacuation in case of fire through the result value of RSET by setting up the latency until the detector operates, and the researches on the safety by understanding if the operational time of detector is suitable for the evaluation standard of performance-centered design.
