Background: Studying the ecosystem carbon cycle requires analysis of interrelationships between soil respiration (Rs) and the environment to evaluate the balance. Various methods and instruments have been used to measure Rs. The closed chamber method, which is currently widely used to determine Rs, creates a closed space on the soil surface, measures $CO_2$ concentration in the inner space, and calculates Rs from the increase. Accordingly, the method is divided into automatic or manual chamber methods (ACM and MCM, respectively). However, errors of these methods and differences in instruments are unclear. Therefore, we evaluated the characteristics and difference of Rs values calculated using both methods with actual data. Results: Both methods determined seasonal variation patterns of Rs, reflecting overall changes in soil temperature (Ts). ACM clearly showed detailed changes in Rs, but MCM did not, because such small changes are unknown as Rs values are collected monthly. Additionally, Rs measured using MCM was higher than that using ACM and differed depending on measured plots, but showed similar tendencies with all measurement times and plots. Contrastingly, MCM Rs values in August for plot 4 were very high compared with ACM Rs values because of soil disturbances that easily occur during MCM measurements. Comparing Rs values calculated using monthly means with those calculated using MCM, the ACM calculated values for monthly averages were higher or lower than those of similar measurement times using the MCM. The difference between the ACM and MCM was attributed to greater or lesser differences. These Rs values estimated the carbon released into the atmosphere during measurement periods to be approximately 57% higher with MCM than with ACM, at 5.1 and $7.9C\;ton\;ha^{-1}$, respectively. Conclusion: ACM calculated average values based on various Rs values as high and low for measurement periods, but the MCM produced only specific values for measurement times as representative values. Therefore, MCM may exhibit large errors in selection differences during Rs measurements. Therefore, to reduce this error using MCM, the time and frequency of measurement should be set to obtain Rs under various environmental conditions. Contrastingly, the MCM measurement is obtained during $CO_2$ evaluation in the soil owing to soil disturbance caused by measuring equipment, so close attention should be paid to measurements. This is because the measurement process is disturbed by high $CO_2$ soil concentration, and even small soil disturbances could release high levels into the chamber, causing large Rs errors. Therefore, the MCM should be adequately mastered before using the device to measure Rs.
This study sought to determine the changes in weather conditions in urban streets, along with conditions of traffic and roads in urban areas. The variations in weather conditions depending on traffic differed according to distance. First, the temperature difference measured by traffic results is as follows: T1 point $1.03^{\circ}C$, T2 point $1.04^{\circ}C$, T3 point $0.9^{\circ}C$, T4 point $1.01^{\circ}C$, and T5 point $0.31^{\circ}C$. The average difference between the measured temperatures by the point of measurement was $0.86^{\circ}C$. The changes in wind velocity according to traffic volume results of the measurements is T1 point 1.32 m/s, T2 point 0.80 m/s, T3 point 0.29 m/s, T4 point 0.04 m/s, and T5 point 0.09 m/s. The difference between the average wind speeds was 0.51 m/s and traffic jams caused substantial differences in distance. The relative humidity tended to be inversely proportional to temperature. The measurements results ares T1 point 2.29%, T2 point 2.67%, T3 point 2.47%, T4 point 2.16%, and T5 point 0.91% The difference between the average relative humidity was 7.3%. In case of independent sampling T test according to traffic volume, changes in wind velocity and temperature were directly proportional to the level of statistical significance(p<0.01). On the other hand, relative humidity tended to be inversely proportional; however, there was no statistical significance.
Shoulder hand syndrome is characterized by pain, vasomotor instability, and tenderness, mainly in the distal upper extremity. The pathophysiologic mechanism of this syndrome is not yet proved. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the usefulness of thermographic imaging on shoulder hand syndrome after stroke for early diagnosis and its clinical pattern analysis including acupuncture and electroacupuncture therapy. This study was performed from June to September in 1996 on 46 stroke patients who were admitted at Oriental hospital of Kyung Hee Medical Center. The study group were 23 patients with shoulder hand syndrome. The control group were 23 patients without shoulder hand syndrome. Skin temperatures on the both upper extremities were measured by Digital Infrared Thermographic Imaging(D.I.T.I.) before the study and 3 weeks later again. The results were as follows; 1. The shoulder hand syndrome group were significantly more restricted in shoulder passive range of motion than the control group. 2. The shoulder hand syndrome group showed significant temperature difference of both dorsal hands. 3. The electroacupunture therapy group were significantly more improved on the temperature difference of both dorsal hands than acupuncture therapy group in 3 weeks later. 4. Both posterior arms showed the biggest temperature difference from 11 to 30 days in shoulder hand syndrome group. 5. The lesser passive ROM(range of motion) of shoulder group showed significantly increased temperature difference of both hands. The above results show that measurement of shoulder passive range of motion and D.I.T.I. is a useful method for early diagnosis on shoulder hand syndrome and its clinical pattern analysis including evaluation of acupuncture and electroacupuncture therapy. Continuous study will be needed for more clinical application and evaluation on shoulder hand syndrome.

In this study, two different technologies which can measure temperature simultaneously at many points are introduced. One is to use a thermal sensor cable that is comprised of addressable thermal sensors connected in parallel within a single cable. The other is to use an optic fiber with Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS) system. The difference between two technologies can be summarized as follows. A thermal sensor cable has a concept of 'point sensing' that can measure temperature at accurate position of a thermal sensor. So the accuracy and resolution of temperature measurement are up to the ability of the thermal sensor. Whereas optic fiber sensor has a concept of 'distributed sensing' because temperature is measured by ratio of Stokes and anti-Stokes component intensities of Raman backscatter that is generated when laser pulse travels along an optic fiber. It's resolution is determined by measuring distance, measuring time and spatial resolution. The purpose of this study is that application targets of two temperature measurement techniques are checked in technical and economical phases by examining the strength and weakness of them. Considering the functions and characteristics of two techniques, the thermal sensor cable will be suitable to apply to the assessment of groundwater flow, geothermal distribution and grouting efficiency within 300m distance. It is expected that the optic fiber sensor can be widely utilized at various fields (for example: pipe line inspection, tunnel fire detection, power line monitoring etc.) which need an information of temperature distribution over relatively long distance.

Electronic packages consist of various materials, and as temperature changes, warpage occurs because of the difference in coefficient of thermal expansion. Shadow $moir{\acute{e}}$ is non-contact, whole field measurement technique for out-of-plane displacement. However, the technique has low sensitivity above $50{\mu}m/fringe$, it is not adequate for the warpage measurement in some circumstance. In this paper, by applying phase shifting process to the traditional shadow $moir{\acute{e}}$, measurement system having enhanced sensitivity of $12.5{\mu}m/fringe$ is constructed. Considering Talbot effect, the measurement is carried out in the half Talbot area. Shadow fringe pattern having four times enhanced sensitivity is obtained by the image process with four shadow fringes. The measurement technique is applied to the fibered package substrate and coreless package substrate for measuring warpages at room temperature and at about $100^{\circ}C$.

In this paper, the appropriate thermal storage time of an air-conditioning system with slab thermal storage was considered by use of summer measurement values. Two standards of heat extraction rate and criterion function were established as the standard that evaluates appropriateness. When heat extraction rate was a standard, zero hour and seven hours were obtained as appropriate thermal storage time, in the case of evaluation by energy consumption and running cost individually. Also, when criterion function was a standard, the difference between energy consumption and running cost was small, it was because the weight function to room air temperature deviation was much bigger than heat extraction rate.

For high-temperature superconducting power applications that need large current capacity, a large current conductor manufactured using multiple superconducting tape is required. Conductors being studied for large currents capacity such as CORC, TSTC, and RACC have advantages and disadvantages, and in order to use these conductors in coil form and apply them to AC power devices, research on magnetization loss occurring in superconductors due to external magnetic fields is essential. To accurately measure magnetization loss in a conductor that is twisted by stacking straight conductors like TSTC, the correlation between the measuring system and the shape of the sample must be clearly known to accurately measure the loss. In this paper, we will confirm the difference in magnetization loss measurement values according to the correlation between the length of the pickup coil and the twist pitch of the sample in CORC and TSTC shapes, and review considerations for accurate magnetization loss measurement from the results.

It was found possible to evaluate the temperature at which major scale failure takes place during cooling by installing a most modem acoustic emission(AE) analytical system. Ultra low carbon steel and low carbon steels containing a few minor alloying elements were oxidized in air at 900, 1050 and $1200^{\circ}C$ for 20 min, and then cooled in vacuum at 30, 70 and $110^{\circ}C/min$. The significance of the present research is the evaluation of the spallation temperature and thus the calculation of apparent thermal stress for scale spallation using the difference between oxidation temperature and spallation temperature. They were assessed as 0.22 to 0.68, 0.45 to 1.80, and 0.65 to 1.95 GPa for oxidation at 900, 1050 and $1200^{\circ}C$, respectively.

We investigated the effect of the abrasive and additive concentrations in Nano ceria slurry on the pad surface temperature under varying pressure through chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) test using blanket wafers. The pad surface temperature after CMP increased with the abrasive concentration and decreased with increase of the additive concentration in slurries for the constant down pressure. A possible mechanism is that the additive adsorbed on the film surface during polishing decreases the friction coefficient, hence the pad surface temperature gets lower with increase of the additive concentration. This difference of temperature was more remarkable for the higher concentration of abrasives. In addition, in-situ measurement of spindle motor was carried out during oxide and nitride polishing. The averaged motor current for oxide film was higher than that for nitride film, which means the higher friction coefficient.

The plasma has been used in various industrial fields of semiconductors, displays, transparent electrode and so on. Plasma diagnostics is critical to the uniform process and the product. We use the electron temperature of the various plasma parameters for the diagnosis of plasma. Generally, the range of the electron temperature which is used in a semiconductor process used the range of 1 eV to 10 eV. The difference of electron temperature of 0.5 eV has a influence in plasma process. The electron temperature can be measured by the electrical method and the optical method. Measurement of electron temperature for various gas flow rates was performed in DC-magnetron sputter and Inductively Coupled Plasma. The physical properties of the thin film were also determined by changing electron temperatures. The transmittance was measured using the integrating sphere, and wavelength range was measured at 300 ~ 1100 nm. We obtain the thin film of the mobility, resistivity and carrier concentration using the hall measurement system. As to the electron temperature increase, optical and electrical properties decrease. We determine it was influenced by the oxygen flow ratio and plasma.
