누설 모양에 따른 파이프 누수 특성에 대한 수치 해석 연구 (Numerical Investigation of the Effect of Crack Shape on Leak Flow Characteristics in Pipelines)

  • The effect of crack shape on the leak flow characteristics in pipelinesis investigated using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations. In the present study, two different crack shapes are considered: axial crack andcircumferential crack. The present simulation results showed that under the same crack area, the aspect ratio influences the leak rate. When the aspect ratio is1, the leak rate reaches the minimum value. Moreover, the leak rate in the circumferentialcrack is slightly larger than that in the axial crack. The change in the leak rateaccording to the crack shape could be explained by the different velocitydistributions at the leak position depending on the aspect ratio.

Design of LNG fuel tank for a light duty truck and numerical analysis of heat leak to LNG tank

  • The LNG tank are properly designed to fit with the limited installation space of a light duty truck, Hyundai Porter II. This designed LNG tank has 36 liter capacity, so two LNG tanks installed on Porter II truck allow it to run about 432 km per fueling. It is almost two times greater than CNG mileage for same truck. To analyze the relationship between car acceleration and heat leak for different fuel vapor/liquid ratios, the modified Fortran program "Pro-Heatleak" is used. Computational analysis shows that the relationship between the heat leak and vapor/liquid ratio is linearly inversed. Heat leak increases with increasing of car acceleration when fuel vapor/liquid ratio is less than 0.5 and decreases when fuel vapor/liquid ratio is greater than 0.5. The difference between maximum and minimum heat leak for full tank is about 12 percents. For the fuel vapor/liquid ratio equal to 0.5 heat leak does not depend on car acceleration.

Coolant Heater의 기밀성 품질 향상을 위한 Leak Test Machine 구조 개선 (Design Alterations of a Leak Machine Structure for the Improved Leak Quality of Coolant Heater)

  • Electric Vehicle industry requires high technologies to stabilize apparatuses for the Coolant heater manufacturing. Vibrations of Leak Machine are one of the most critical factors for causing delivered of the defective product or poor inspection, which are the main reasons of the defects. In this study, the structure of the Leak Machine was analyzed through the experiment and the computer simulation to investigate the main reasons of the vibrations, and further to alter the design for the improved stability. And that design alterations were applied to the machine to identify the effects of those alterations. The result of the study shows that design alterations of the Leak Machine can effectively suppress about 97.8% of the vibrations, and further can improving the Inspection precision of the Coolant heater.

천연가스자동차용 LNG용기에서의 차량가속도와 Heat leak 관계 해석 (Analysis of heat leak with the car acceleration for LNG tank of Natural Gas Vehicle)

  • LNG is a valuable fuel since it offers some environmental, energy security and economic benefits over diesel. It could be used mainly in heavy-duty trucks and buses. Car acceleration induces the slope angle of the liquid fuel in the tank. Slope angle changes the surface area wetted by liquid fuel and consequently heat leak to the tank. This research is a result of numerical simulation of the heat leak with the car acceleration to LNG tank. The "Pro-HeatLeak" Fortran program is developed and the verification test of the developed program is done. The difference between numerical results and calculated results from MathCad verification test is less than 0.07 percent. The smallest heat leak is correspond to the case without oscillation. For the high car acceleration the value of heat leak is greater than that for the small acceleration. The difference between maximum and minimum heat leak for 10 gallons of fuel vapor in the tank is about 10 percent.

  • 발사체의 신뢰성과 추진제 또는 가스의 누설은 매우 밀접한 상관관계를 갖는다. 본 논문에서는 누설에 대한 정성적인 분석을 위한 누설량의 정의와 각 단위계의 변환 관계를 소개하였다. 또한 누설량에 영향을 미치는 인자를 분석하였다. 발사체 기밀시험에 사용하는 가스의 품질 요구조건과 발사체 또는 부품의 기밀을 확인하기 위한 여러 가지 시험 방법을 소개하였다. 아울러 발사체의 추진시스템에 대한 기밀시험에서 사용된 방법과 절차를 간략히 기술하였다.

  • 최근 국내 기업의 핵심기술 유출은 해마다 증가하고 있고 국가적인 차원에서 피해액 손실도 매년 크게 증가하고 있다. 최근 5년 간 우리나라 주요 사업의 기술유출에 따른 피해액은 220조 원에 달했고 2010년 총 예산과 비슷한 액수이다. 또한 핵심기술 유출 유형별로는 전직 직원, 현직 직원, 협력 업체 직원, 유치과학자, 투자업체 순으로 내부 인력에 의한 핵심기밀 유출이 가장 많은 것으로 나타났다. 이처럼, 사람에 의해서 핵심기밀 유출이 가장 많이 발생한 것에 따라 기업의 인원 보안 관리에 대한 대책 및 관리가 제대로 이루어 지지 않는 것을 미루어 짐작할 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문은 기업에서의 핵심기술 유출을 방지하기 위하여 내부 인력에 대한 사전 정보를 데이터 마이닝 방법을 통해서 핵심기술 유출 징후 분류 방법을 제안한다.

ESTIMATION OF LEAK RATE THROUGH CIRCUMFERENTIAL CRACKS IN PIPES IN NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS

  • The leak before break (LBB) concept is widely used in designing pipe lines in nuclear power plants. According to the concept, the amount of leaking liquid from a pipe should be more than the minimum detectable leak rate of a leak detection system before catastrophic failure occurs. Therefore, accurate estimation of the leak rate is important to evaluate the validity of the LBB concept in pipe line design. In this paper, a program was developed to estimate the leak rate through circumferential cracks in pipes in nuclear power plants using the Henry-Fauske flow model and modified Henry-Fauske flow model. By using the developed program, the leak rate was calculated for a circumferential crack in a sample pipe, and the effect of the flow model on the leak rate was examined. Treating the crack morphology parameters as random variables, the statistical behavior of the leak rate was also examined. As a result, it was found that the crack morphology parameters have a strong effect on the leak rate and the statistical behavior of the leak rate can be simulated using normally distributed crack morphology parameters.

  • Many welding processes are performed to construct cryogenic system. Leak-tight for the cryogenic system is required at low temperature environment. Helium leak detection techniques are commonly used to find leak for the cryogenic system. The helium leak detection techniques for spraying, sniffing and pressurizing techniques are introduced. High vacuum is also necessary to use helium leak detector. So, types of fluid flow, effective temperature, conductance and pumping speed are introduced for vacuum pumping. Leak test procedure is shown for pipe welding, cryomodule and low temperature test. Cryogenic seals which include copper gasket, helicoflex gasket and indium are investigated.

  • In this study, the leak detection technique of pressure vessel by using acoustic emission(AE) signal is suggested experimentally. The leak of pressure vessel is located at the welding line due to welding defects. we measured the AE signal using Rl5I sensor, and examined the AE parameters in leak condition. It is investigated that the mean value of AE signal is dependent on leak source location. So the absolute mean value of AE signal is adopted as dominant AE parameter. We proposed leak detection algorithm using AE signal mean value for monitoring the leak source location.

Effect of a Series Connection of a Bi-Electrolyte Hydrogen Sensor in a Leak Detector

  • Conventional leak detectors are widely based on helium gas sensors. However, the usage of hydrogen sensors in leak detectors has increased because of the high prices of helium leak detectors and the dearth in the supply of helium gas. In this study, a hydrogen leak detector was developed using solid-state hydrogen sensors. The hydrogen sensors are based on Park-Rapp probes with heterojunctions made by oxygen-ion conducting Yttria-stabilized zirconia and proton-conducting In-doped $CaZrO_3$. The hydrogen sensors were used for determining the potential difference between air and air balanced 5 ppm of $H_2$. Even though the Park-Rapp probe shows an excellent selectivity for hydrogen, the sensitivity of the sensor was low because of the low concentration of hydrogen, and the oxygen on the surface of the sensor. In order to increase the sensitivity of the sensor, the sensors were connected in series by Pt wires to increase the potential difference. The sensors were tested at temperatures ranging from $500-600^{\circ}C$.
