In the advent of ubiquitous information technology (u-IT) as a new emerging horizon of information society, inflated expectations regarding u-IT are growing very fast and higher than those made in the past, which would perhaps result in serious bust after boom and incur tremendous amount of social costs. This paper thus investigates a dynamic mechanism underlying the coevolution between information technology and society by applying systems thinking, particularly, with a focus on the typical phenomenon, 'hype curve' which shows how new technologies initially grow too fast for their own good, crashing from a peak of inflated expectations into a trough of disillusionment before stabilizing on a plateau of productivity. Three basic questions are explored to answer by investigating the mechanisms underlying the 'boom-bust' phenomenon: First, why hype curve appears in the process of technology and society coevolution. Second, how to enhance the stabilization level. Third, when is the right time for the policy intervention.
The paper deals with the identification of Pareto optimal solutions using GA based coevolution in the context of multiobjective optimization. Coevolution is a genetic process by which several species work with different types of individuals in parallel. The concept of cooperative coevolution is adopted to compensate for each of single objective optimal solutions during genetic evolution. The present study explores the GA based coevolution, and develops prescribed and adaptive scheduling schemes to reflect design characteristics among single objective optimization. In the paper, non-dominated Pareto optimal solutions are obtained by controlling scheduling schemes and comparing each of single objective optimal solutions. The proposed strategies are subsequently applied to a three-bar planar truss design and an energy preserving flywheel design to support proposed strategies.
By applying Systems Simulation technique, this paper aims to investigates the dynamics underlying the coevolution of IT(information technology) and the society. Particularly, a series of basic questions are explored to answer by developing a simulation model for the mechanisms underlying the 'hype curve' ever occurring in the course of technology diffusion into society: First, why hype curve appears in the process of technology and society coevolution. Second, how to enhance the tapering level at the final stage of coevolution. Third, what are the key policy leverages and when is the right time for the policy intervention. As now, inflated expectations regarding ubiquitous information technology (u-IT) are growing very fast and higher than those for the previous technologies, which would result in overshoot followed by collapse of visibility and thus incur tremendous amount of social costs. In this regard implications drawn from this study perhaps give some insights not necessarily to the academics but also to the practitioners and policy makers facing the advent of u-IT as a new emerging horizon of information society.

In order to draw some strategic implications for the sustainable growth of emerging technologies this paper attempts to dynamics underlying the 'hype cycle' ever occurring in course of coevolution of technology and society. Particularly, a series of basic questions in the context of sustainability are explored to answer by simulating the hype system structure: What makes hype cycle occur? how to enhance the tapering level at the final stage of coevolution? what are the key policy leverages and when is the right time for the policy intervention? This study perhaps give some insights not necessarily to the academics but also to the practitioners and policy makers.
This study aims at integrating the sociological study of technology and the economic study of technological learning. It is argued that the sociological approaches of innovation have some strong points in criticizing technological determinism, but have some weak points in explaining how the knowledge base for innovation is accumulated. On the contrary, the economic approaches of innovation have strong points in explaining technology accumulation, but ignore socio-political process of innovation. This study suggests the model which integrates the socio-political process and technological loaming process.
Despite a growing literature focusing on technological development as a key driving force behind the economic performance of a firm or a nation's industy, we still fall short of a comprehensive understanding of how each of the elements required of technological developent and innovation fits togther and leads to economic progress and industry change. This paper seeks to fill this gap by bringing together some of key insights from the theory and research on the coevolutionary process of technology, organizations, and industry, and on the role of institutions in this process. By combining a diverse array of research streams, we provide a broad suvey of foundational work on the following two questions: (1) how the creation and diffusion of innovation occurs and gives rise to structural reconfigurations of the industry, (2) how organisations and technology coevolve, and (3) what is the role of institutions in this coevolutionary process? Based on this literature survey, we also offer a synthesis that can serve as a ground that allows a more nuanced understanding of the sources, dynamics and impacts of technological development and innovation, and interrelationships among technology, organizations and industry change.
Cyber singer appeared in the late 1990s has disappeared briefly appeared. although a few attempts in the 2000s, it did not show significant successes. cyber singer was born thanks to the technical development of the IT industry and the emergence of an idol training system in the music industry. It was developed by Vocaloid 'Seeyou' starting from 'Adam'. cyber singer that differenatiated typical digital characters in a cartoon or game may be subject to idolize to the music as a medium. They also feature forming a plurality of fandom. therefore, such attempts and repeated failures, this could be considered a fashion, but it flew content creation and ongoing attempts to take advantage of the new media, such as Vocaloid can see that there are expectations for a true Cyber-born singer. Early-Cyber singer is made only resemble human appearance, but 'Sciart' and 'Seeyou' has been evolving to becoming more like the human capabilities. in this paper, stylized cyber singer had disappeared in the past in the process of developing the technology to evolve into own artificial life does not end in failure cases, gradually led to a change in public perceptions of the image look looking machine was an attempt in that sense. With the direction of the evolution of the mechanical function to obtain a human, fun and human exchanges and mutual feelings. And it is equipped with an artificial life form that evolved with it only in appearance and function. in order to support this logic, I refer to the study of the coevolution of man and machine at every Bruce Mazlish. And, I have analyzed the evolution of cyber singer Bruce research from the perspective of the development process since the late 1990s, the planning of the eight singers who have appeared and design of the cyber character and important voices to be evaluated as a singer (vocal). The machine has been evolving coevolution with humans. cyber singer ambivalent development targets are recognized, but strive to become the new artificial creatures of horror idea of human desire and death continues. therefore, the new Cyber-organisms are likely to be the same style as 'Seeyou'. because, cartoon forms and whirring voice may not be in the form of a signifier is the real human desires, but this is because the contemporary public's desire to be desired and the technical development of this type can be created at the point where the cross-signifier.
Using theories of sectoral innovation system and supply chain management, this paper examines the status quo of Korean IT SoC industry's innovation system by comparing it with Taiwanese one. Taiwan IT SoC industry has accomplished a rapid growth on the basis of government policies that foster domestic firms after the establishment of Hsinchu Science Park. Cooperative networks between foundries firms and fablesses have been formed within the supply chain in this process. Therefore, Taiwan industry has possessed the possibility of the coevolution in sectoral innovation system. However, Korean IT SoC industry has failed to form cooperative networks, because of weak networks between related firms. In other words, there exists an interaction failure, which is a kind of the system failure, and it means a lack of linkage between actors as a result of insufficient use of complementarities and interactive learning. Therefore, Korean industry has little possibility of the coevolution in sectoral innovation system. The cooperative networks between actors are prerequisite towards evolution of innovation system of Korean IT SoC industry. Above all, the cooperative networks between fablesses and system companies need to be strengthened within the supply chain.
This paper aims at examining technological catching-up in the Korean IT SoC industry using the theories of technological catching-up and sectoral system of innovation. The Korean IT SoC industry has accomplished rapid technological catching-up by the process of variety generation and selection. In the process, Korean fabless ventures have pursued the technological path-creative pattern in niche markets. But the cooperative networks among various firms are prerequisite for the coevolution of sectoral innovation system.
The purpose of this article is to re-interpretate 'Post Catch-up Studies' on the Korean innovation system with the framework of 'Transition Studies'. The viewpoints of the vision, research area and system innovation process of Post Catch-up studies are reviewed and reconfigurated. The Transition Studies concepts of Sustainability, Coevolution of industry and society, and transition management are introduced into the Post-catch up Studies and discussed. It is suggested that Post catch-up studies should support sustainability system transition and make use of transition management tools for the sustainable post catch-up innovation and policy.
