디지털 트윈 국제표준화 현황 및 전망 (Digital Twin Standardization: Trends and Future Prospects)

  • Digital twins are gaining attention and traction across various industries and societies owing to their potential for technological advancement, utilization, and service innovation. Digital twins involve creating a software system that mirrors a real-world entity, enabling them to interact and cooperate, therfore resembling interaction between a real-world entity and a digital twin. By recognizing the importance of this technology, international standardization efforts for digital twins are actively underway toward enhancing its application across various industrial sectors. We aims to provide an overview of the current status and future prospects of digital twin standardization, focusing on the ISO/TC 184/SC 4 and ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 41 efforts.

ChatGPT는 우리에게 어떤 우려를 초래하는가?: 유튜브 영상 뉴스 댓글의 CTM(Correlated Topic Modeling) 분석을 중심으로 (What Concerns Does ChatGPT Raise for Us?: An Analysis Centered on CTM (Correlated Topic Modeling) of YouTube Video News Comments)

  • 본 연구는 ChatGPT로부터 촉박된 생성형 인공지능에 대해 국내의 특수성을 고려한 대중의 우려를 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 유튜브에서 102개의 윤리 관련 뉴스 영상에 포함된 댓글을 파이썬 스크래퍼를 개발하여 수집하였으며, 텍스톰을 통해 형태소 분석 및 전처리를 통해 15,735개 댓글을 대상으로 상관토픽모델(CTM)을 통해 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 뉴스 영상에 포함된 댓글의 주요 토픽은 '법적 및 윤리적 고려 사항', '지적 재산권 및 기술', '기술 발전과 인류 미래, 정보 처리에서 인공지능의 잠재력', 'AI에서의 감정 지능 및 윤리적 규제', '인간모방' 등 6개로 확인되었다. 또한 6개의 토픽을 10% 이상의 상관계수 값을 보이는 관계로 구조화한 결과 '법적 및 윤리적 고려 사항', 'ChatGPT의 데이터 생성 관련 이슈(지적 재산권 및 기술, 정보 처리에서의 인공지능의 잠재력, 인간모방', '인류 미래에 대한 두려움(기술 발전과 인류 미래, AI에서의 감정 지능 및 윤리적 규제)' 등 3개로 구조화할 수 있었다. 이를 바탕으로 ChatGPT로 인해 촉발된 생성형 인공지능에 관한 관심과 더불어 다양한 우려가 공존하고 있는 것을 확인하였고, 국내의 역사적 및 사회적 맥락을 반영한 특수성을 가진 우려도 존재하고 있음을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과를 통해 데이터 공정성에 대한 국가 주도의 노력이 필요함을 제안하였다.

Structural Change as a Source of Growth: An Empirical Evidence from OECD Countries

  • From the economic development perspective, economic growth should accompany structural improvement in order to meet complex demands from a society. In the context of development economics, economic growth is critically dependent on successful structural advancement. The issue of structural change is also important for advanced economies as the landscape of modern industry is changing fast. Many advanced countries of slow growth are experiencing dawdling changes in industry structure. However, there is no definitive answer to the question of whether there is a causal relationship between structural change and growth. This study empirically assesses the relationship between structural change or 'speed' thereof and economic growth in developed countries of OECD. Rather than looking into the causes of structural changes, this study simply measures structural changes in OECD economies and examines if structural change is really contributing to growth. The reason why this study focuses on advanced countries of OECD is rather obvious; technological innovation and emergence of new industries pressure these countries to restructure their economies to address these new challenges though they are at stages well beyond conventional industrialization. And structural rigidity can always limit growth even in advanced countries. The main results of this study can be summarized as a positive relationship between 'change and growth'. 'Change' in this study refers to changes in the industrial structure based on value-added and was analyzed to have a close positive relationship with economic growth. This result is consistent with arguments of early development economists emphasizing structural upgrade as an indispensable process for growth and development. The result of this study potentially confirms that the main argument of development economics is valid also for advanced economies. One of our results suggests that business/professional services and social services should be main targets for restructuring for advanced economies. The rational may be that rapid convergence of manufacturing and services is a key for structural advancement in the era of new technologies. Obviously, as manufacturing technology and production are standardized, it is difficult to secure international competitiveness through traditional manufacturing alone and the role of R&D, design, logistics, and marketing is becoming more important.

플랫폼 서비스 혁신에 있어 인공지능(AI)의 역할과 효과에 관한 연구: 카카오 그룹의 인공지능 활용 사례 연구 (The Role and Effect of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the Platform Service Innovation: The Case Study of Kakao in Korea)

  • The development of platform service based on the information and communication technology has revolutionized patterns of commercial transactions, driving the growth of global economy. Furthermore, the radical advancement of artificial intelligence(AI) presents the huge potential to innovate almost all the industrial and economic activities. Given these technological developments, the goal of this paper is to investigate AI's impact on the platform service innovation as well as its influence on the business performance. For the goal, this paper presents the review of the types of service innovation, the nature of platform services, and technological characteristics of leading AI technologies, such as chatbot and recommendation system. As an empirical study, this paper performs a multiple case study of Kakao Group which is the leading mobile platform service with the most advanced AI in Korea. To understand the role and effect of AI on Kakao platform service, this study investigated three cases, including chatbot agent of Kakao Bank, Smart Call service of Kakao Taxi, and music recommendation system of Kakao Mellon. The analysis results of the case study show that AI initiated innovations in platform service concepts, service delivery, and customer interface, all of which lead to a significant decrease in the transaction costs and the personalization of services. Finally, for the successful development of AI, this research emphasizes the significance of the accumulation of customer and operational data, the AI human capital, and the design of R&D organization.

특허의 정량적 지표와 동시분류 네트워크를 활용한 반도체 세정장비 분야 국가별 기술경쟁력 분석 (Analyzing Technology Competitiveness by Country in the Semiconductor Cleaning Equipment Sector Using Quantitative Indices and Co-Classification Network)

  • 한국은 반도체 산업에서의 독보적 우위에도 불구하고, 반도체 장비 분야에서는 두각을 나타내지 못하고 있다. 세정장비는 반도체 장비 중 한 분야로, 반도체 기술의 고도화에 따라 향후 중요성이 더욱 강조되는 분야이다. 본 연구는 특허 정보를 분석하여 한국을 포함한 주요 국가별 세정장비 분야 기술경쟁력을 파악하고 국가별 중점 기술분야를 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 최근 10년 간 미국 특허청에 등록된 세정장비 특허를 검색하여, 정량적 특허분석 및 특허 동시분류 네트워크 분석을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 미국과 일본이 이 분야 기술을 선도하고 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 한국은 이들 선도국에 비해 경쟁력이 크게 뒤쳐짐은 물론, 경쟁국인 대만이나 후발국인 중국에 비해서도 우위에 있다고 보기 어려운 상황이다. 또한 국가별 전문화가 진행되어 있어, 국가 간 협력체제가 원활치 못할 경우 기술장벽으로 작용할 가능성도 없지 않다. 따라서 국내 세정장비 산업의 발전을 위한 적극적인 연구개발과 기술역량 확충이 요구된다.

온라인상에서 부정적 편향에 따른 평판 확산 차이에 관한 연구 : 선거 사례를 중심으로 (A Study on the Impact of Negativity Bias on Online Spread of Reputation : With a Case Study of Election Campaign)

  • As a social being, people can cooperate and control one another through the power of reputation, which is a critical opinion of someone given by others. Nevertheless, there have been obstacles in clarifying the identity of traditional types of reputation, for they are mostly words of mouth passed among members of a society. However, due to dramatic technological advancement and widespread use of the Internet and social media, now we can clearly see and analyze written reputations, which used to be passed only from mouth to mouth. Against this background, this study examines whether a negativity bias-a notion that an event of a more negative nature has a greater effect on one's psychological state than a positive event-applies to spread of reputation online, and examines related factors and effects. To this end, reputation-related online comments left by social media users during the election period of Korea's 6th provincial election on 4 June 2014 were analyzed. For the analysis, a Bass diffusion model was used, which is based on the innovation diffusion theory. The analysis results confirmed that, at online forum, negative reputations spread more quickly and more widely than positive ones, had a greater impact, and mass media such as online news outlets had a significant influence on spread of reputation online.

Diagnosis and treatment of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis

  • Tuberculosis (TB) is still a major health problem worldwide. Especially, multidrug-resistant TB (MDR-TB), which is defined as TB that shows resistance to both isoniazid and rifampicin, is a barrier in the treatment of TB. Globally, approximately 3.4% of new TB patients and 20% of the patients with a history of previous treatment for TB were diagnosed with MDR-TB. The treatment of MDR-TB requires medications for a long duration (up to 20-24 months) with less effective and toxic second-line drugs and has unfavorable outcomes. However, treatment outcomes are expected to improve due to the introduction of a new agent (bedaquiline), repurposed drugs (linezolid, clofazimine, and cycloserine), and technological advancement in rapid drug sensitivity testing. The World Health Organization (WHO) released a rapid communication in 2018, followed by consolidated guidelines for the treatment of MDR-TB in 2019 based on clinical trials and an individual patient data meta-analysis. In these guidelines, the WHO suggested reclassification of second-line anti-TB drugs and recommended oral treatment regimens that included the new and repurposed agents. The aims of this article are to review the treatment strategies of MDR-TB based on the 2019 WHO guidelines regarding the management of MDR-TB and the diagnostic techniques for detecting resistance, including phenotypic and molecular drug sensitivity tests.

Sustainability and International Environmental Agreements

  • This paper examines the perceptions of sustainability, which is conceptualised as cross-generational social preferences, on the formation of international environmental agreements (IEAs) in a two-stage game in two periods. There are two scenarios are considered: myopic and sustainable development scenarios. The myopic scenario assumes the decision makers only concern the present welfare. Whilst the scenario of sustainable development has two characters: cross-generational fairness and altruism. When both are taken into account, a coalition will be expanded. The numerical example indicates that the marginal cost of the total emissions is the crucial factor for the formation of IEAs. Only when the marginal cost is low, a sustainable system can be succeeded. While, the technological advancement may lead to a more efficient production per unit of emissions, it also encourages countries to emit more in total and have a lower level of welfare. The results confirm the importance of sustainability to IEAs. The lesson learnt from this study is: when decision makers are myopic, the system is unsustainable even if an IEA is formed. Only when the perception of sustainability is considered, the system could be sustainable. Regardless of the existence of IEAs, international environmental conventions shall not neglect the fundamental goal to pursue sustainable development.

  • There is a new evolution in technological advancement taking place called the Internet of Things (IoT), The IoT enables physical world objects in our surrounding to be connected to the Internet. ISM (Industrial Scientific Medical) band that is 2.4GHz band authorized free of charge is being widely used for smart devices. Accordingly studies have been continuously conducted on the possibility of coexistence among nodes using ISM band. In particular, the interference of IEEE 802.11b based Wi-Fi devices using overlapping channel during communication among IEEE 802.15.4 based wireless sensor nodes suitable for low-power, low-speed communication using ISM band. Because serious network performance deterioration of wireless sensor networks. In this paper, we will propose an algorithm that identifies the possibility of using more accurate channels by mixing utilization of interference signal and RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) Min/Max/Activity of Interference signal by wireless sensor nodes. In addition, it will verify our algorithm by using OPNET Network verification simulator.

  • Biochips are a powerful emerging technology for biomedical, environmental applications. Especially, making use of bioseonors in the evaluation of toxicity becomes increasingly important. For biosensor as a toxicity detection, biomolecules like antibodies or aptamers have been developed to specifically capture the toxic target molecules. In addition, the development of optimal chip materials capable of maintaining the activity of embedded biomolecules such as proteins or aptamers has proven challenging. Here, using sol-gel materials, new chip material, whose ability for immobilizing the embedded aptamers and maintaining the ability of embedded aptamers is optimal, was searched. We used sol-gel formulation screening methods previously developed and found the best formulation which shows high sensitive and specific interactions of aptamers. This study results will support the technological advancement for diagnosis and environmental sensor.
