Network externality can be defined as the effect that one user of a good or service has on the value of that product to other people. When a network externality is present, the value of a product or service is dependent on the number of others using it. There exist asymmetries in network externalities between the online and traditional offline marketing channels. Technological capabilities such as interactivity and real-time communications enable the creation of virtual communities. These user communities generate significant direct as well as indirect network externalities by creating added value through user ratings, reviews and feedback, which contributes to eliminate consumers' concern for buying products without the experience of 'touch and feel'. The offline channel offers much less scope for such community building, and consequently, almost no possibility for the creation of network externality. In this study, we analyze the effect of network externality on the competition between online and conventional offline marketing channels using game theory. To do this, we first set up a two-period game model to represent the competition between online and offline marketing channels under network externalities. Numerical analysis of the Nash equilibrium solutions of the game showed that the pricing strategies of online and offline channels heavily depend not only on the strength of network externality but on the relative efficiency of online channel. When the relative efficiency of online channel is high, the online channel can greatly benefit by the network externality. On the other hand, if the relative efficiency of online channel is low, the online channel may not benefit at all by the network externality.
As the need for switchover to FA and for rationalization increases in the industrial world, educational courses in schools are more and more taking up the subjects of electronic machines, mechatronics and systems, etc., subjects which are a fusion of the previous subjects of electricity, electronics and machines. At our junior college, a control engineering course was inaugurated in 1974 prior to any other schools that offered such courses. As automation progressed, the use of industrial robots spread rapidly. The year of 1980 is regarded as the first year that the use of industrial robots become widespread. Responding to the current requests, a one-year research course was added to the control engineering course in 1983. Moreover, a robot engineering course was newly established in 1984, in which mechatronics and industrial robotics were instructed intensively in high efficiency. As a teaching aid, an air robot system which was based particularly on the FMS model and possessed pattern recognition capabilities was completed in 1982. This system has been used since then as the nucleus for hands-on training with robots and systems. As more and more intelligent machines and artificial intelligence become widespread in industry, these subjects are taking on greater importance and greater sophistication in the education offered by this department. Educational institutions are seeking to provide facilities and curricula which will meet the technological needs of this age. Our college is not an institution at the graduate school level, but rather a school which is at the more practical junior college level. An outline of the facilities introduced at our school is presented and the results of utilizing it in industrial robot engineering education is reported.
Activation Plan for International Health Care through the Resolution of Medical Disputes with Foreign Patients. The field of international health care is currently being expanded and developed into the new industrial field of medical tourism through the convergence of medicine - a public sector - and tourism - a private sector. This study examines problems with medical law regarding the prevention of medical disputes that may occur when attracting foreign patients and the resolution of these disputes. It also introduces the current most ideal resolution plan for medical disputes. Advanced measures for the prevention of medical disputes with foreign patients are as follows: First, when conducting international health care, the obligation to explain a medical treatment should be applied at higher standards for foreign patients. Second, all medical treatment procedures, including appointments, treatments, discharge, post-operation consultations, and follow-up treatments of foreign patients should be charted and recorded. A checklist regarding precautions for each procedure along with a response manual for problems should also be established. These regulations can prevent unexpected conflicts in advance when medical disputes occur. If a medical dispute with a foreign patient occurs despite thorough advance prevention, it can be resolved through reconciliation, mediation, and arbitration. The government and the medical field along with its related industries and authorities should put their efforts into developing these priori/posteriori measures for the activation of international medical health care. The laws and technological/human capabilities in medicine should also be improved in order to activate international medical health care.

The ensuing disaster brought by the massive earthquake and tsunami in the northeastern region of Japan in 2011 placed Japan, one of the three most advanced economic powers in the world, in a defenseless state. With the rising interest in disaster recovery, Korea is also making efforts to provide technological support for barrier-free system operation 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. To protect intelligence assets efficiently, this study draws a job performance plan to prepare for disasters, which systemizes methodical coping capabilities into business plans when disasters occur. Moreover, this study systemizes the job performance plan to allow members easy access to information that will help them proceed without confusion in emergencies. This plant is intended to protect intelligence assets of an organization clearly and promptly.

It has been known since the mid 1960s that Ag can be photodissolved in chalcogenide glasses to form materials with interesting technological properties. In the 40 years since, this effect has been used in diverse applications such as the fabrication of relief images in optical elements, micro photolithographic schemes, and for direct imaging by photoinduced Ag surface deposition. ReRAM, also known as conductive bridging RAM (CBRAM), is a resistive switching memory based on non-volatile formation and dissolution of a conductive filament in a solid electrolyte. Especially, Ag-doped chalcogenide glasses and thin films have become attractive materials for fundamental research of their structure, properties, and preparation. Ag-doped chalcogenide glasses have been used in the formation of solid electrolyte which is the active medium in ReRAM devices. In this paper, we investigated the nature of thin films formed by the photo-dissolution of Ag into Ge-Se glasses for use in ReRAM devices. These devices rely on ion transport in the film so produced to create electrically programmable resistance states [1-3]. We have demonstrated functionalities of Ag doped chalcogenide glasses based on their capabilities as solid electrolytes. Formation of such amorphous systems by the introduction of Ag+ ions photo-induced diffusion in thin chalcogenide films is considered. The influence of Ag+ ions is regarded in terms of diffusion kinetics and Ag saturation is related to the composition of the hosting material. Saturated Ag+ ions have been used in the formation of conductive filaments at the solid electrolyte which is the active medium in ReRAM devices. Following fabrication, the cell displays a metal-insulator-metal structure. We measured the I-V characteristics of a cell, similar results were obtained with different via sizes, due to the filamentary nature of resistance switching in ReRAM cell. As the voltage is swept from 0 V to a positive top electrode voltage, the device switches from a high resistive to a low resistive, or set. The low conducting, or reset, state can be restored by means of a negative voltage sweep where the switch-off of the device usually occurs.

In this paper, Capstone Design Education Program Learning Model was developed and recommended in order to foster convergent talents armed with practical competences and real cooperative capabilities. In this era of convergence and creativity, the fashion world needs human resources with cooperative skills and true professional abilities. A case analysis, an in-depth interview, and 1,2 test method were used for data acquisition and analysis. The summary of this study is described below. First, this program needs to complement the NCS fashion design learning module. Second, material changes to creativity and practical competencies - knowledge, skills, and attitudes - of the students are assessed after applying Capstone Design to the NCS fashion design learning model. Third, the process of converging fashion curriculum with IT and electronic technology, developing a fashion design learning program, and applying the Capstone Design was tested to prove the effectiveness of convergent fashion design education. Among the changes observed between the trial and control groups, it was confirmed that sub-factors of creative personality, i.e. self-assurance and openness, were increased along with knowledge, core competences including communication capability, and self-directed learning capability. The greatest improvement on the technological side was observed in IT literacy while ability to respond to changes was also increased. Besides, effects were demonstrated in behavioral factors such as initiative, spirit of challenge, experience, and openness. Lastly, the Capstone Design Education Program Learning Model was proposed in order to foster convergent talents in the fashion world.

Monitoring and economical design of alternative energy generators such as wind turbines is becoming increasingly critical; however acquisition of the dynamic output data can be a time-consuming and costly process. In recent years, low-cost wireless sensors have emerged as an enabling technology for structural monitoring applications. In this study, wireless sensor networks are installed in three operational turbines in order to demonstrate their efficacy in this unique operational environment. The objectives of the first installation are to verify that vibrational (acceleration) data can be collected and transmitted within a turbine tower and that it is comparable to data collected using a traditional tethered system. In the second instrumentation, the wireless network includes strain gauges at the base of the structure. Also, data is collected regarding the performance of the wireless communication channels within the tower. In both turbines, collected wireless sensor data is used for off-line, output-only modal analysis of the ambiently (wind) excited turbine towers. The final installation is on a turbine with embedded braking capabilities within the nacelle to generate an "impulse-like" load at the top of the tower. This ability to apply such a load improves the modal analysis results obtained in cases where ambient excitation fails to be sufficiently broad-band or white. The improved loading allows for computation of true mode shapes, a necessary precursor to many conditional monitoring techniques.

The EU in order to surpass the United States in the world economy have tried several aspects. Economic growth is possible through the technological competitiveness of this industry, and also through the development of industrial technology and employment. Such EU Commission has taken several support policies in order to raise the R & D capabilities. Non-EU member countries, Korea, R & D pipe central incisor see support for the policy proposal evaluation for women is important. The aim of this paper is to analyze the proposal evaluation process of the EU commission for R&D projects. I argue that the EU's methode of proposal evaluation for EU R&D consists of five stages: expert briefings, proposals for individual assessment, consensus and finally a panel evaluation. The main features of the EU's R&D evaluation process for proposals are experts and panel evaluation. The Korean government could select, operate and manage experts for the EU's R&D evaluation. That would lead to a higher rate of success for Korean proposals in the EU.
Since 1982, the government of Korea has actively promoted vertical cooperative R&D programs between government-sponsored research institutes (GRIs) and private firms. A number of firms participated in the programs because cooperative R&D could lower the risk and could contribute to rapid commercialization of many technologies. This paper examines the effectiveness of vertical cooperative R&D projects by the modes of cooperation between GRIs and industrial firms, and analyzes the performance of participating firms' technology sourcing strategies for commercial utilization of cooperative R&D results at the project performed from 1982 to 1989 under the Government-Industry Cooperative R&D Program sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology(MOST) in Korea. The cooperative R&D projects are classified into 4 groups by two criteria, i.e., the level of participation of firms, and the breadth of cooperation. The findings suggest that firms should actively participate in cooperative R&D projects. In addition, in order to enhance commercial success, cooperation between GRIs and industrial firms should not be limited to R&D stage only. The breadth of cooperation should be extended to commercialization stage. Small- and medium-sized firms participating in vertical cooperative R&D projects in Korea usually lack internal technological capabilities that are needed to commercialize the results of cooperative R&D. Three different technology sourcing strategies - exclusive cooperative R&D strategy, in-house development augmented cooperative R&D strategy, and licensing-in supplemented cooperative R&D strategy - are empirically derived through cluster analysis of the relative usage rates cooperative R&D and of other supplementary technology acquisition methods. The findings suggest that the firms participating in vertical cooperative R&D projects should try to utilize other supplementary technology acquisition methods in order to achieve commercial utilization of the vertical cooperative R&D results.
