A Study on Socio-technical System for Sustainability of the 4th Industrial Revolution: Machine Learning-based Analysis

  • The era of the 4th industrial revolution is a complex environment in which the cyber world and the physical world are integrated and interacted. In order to successfully implement and be sustainable the 4th industrial revolution of hyper-connectivity, hyper-convergence, and hyper-intelligence, not only the technological aspects that implemented digitalization but also the social aspects must be recognized and dealt with as important. There are socio-technical systems and socio-technical systems theory as concepts that describe systems involving complex interactions between the environmental aspects of human, mechanical and tissue systems. This study confirmed how the Socio-technical System was applied in the research literature for the last 10 years through machine learning-based analysis. Eight clusters were derived by performing co-occurrence keywords network analysis, and 13 research topics were derived and analyzed by performing a structural topic model. This study provides consensus and insight on the social and technological perspectives necessary for the sustainability of the 4th industrial revolution.

  • Nowadays learning has developed to a new way of anywhere and anytime by using mobile devices called m-learning which can provide flexibility, independency and creativity in academic environment. Most studies about m-learning are for higher education and the most users of m-learning are higher education students. Although developed countries are using m-learning in educational sectors, most of the Middle East countries are far from m-learning, and facing number of challenges. In Iran m-learning is still in early stage of implementation in higher education and in terms of technical and infrastructural aspects there is a vast gap in compare with developed countries. Although technical and infrastructural difficulties are one of the significant aspects in implementation and integration of m-learning technologies in education, the technology will not be successful if could not adopt with users. Due to the importance of user adoption with m-learning, there are limited studies about m-learning adoption in higher education of Iran. This paper attempts to review on technical and infrastructural aspects that facilitate m-learning which have effect on adoption of Iran higher education system. The review of the trend in the literature provides a reference for higher education institutes for decision making in developing m-learning for their students.

Technical Aspects of Endobronchial Ultrasound-Guided Transbronchial Needle Aspiration

  • Endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) is becoming a standard method for invasive mediastinal staging and for the diagnosis of paratracheal and peribronchial lesions. It is essential to understand the technical aspects of EBUS-TBNA to ensure safe and efficient procedures. In this review, we discuss the practical aspects to be considered during EBUS-TBNA, including anesthesia, manipulation of equipment, understanding mediastinal ultrasound images, target selection, number of aspirations needed per target, sample handling, and complications.

  • In order to improve the speed of railway, several parameters and/or technical issues, which are affecting speed improvement negatively, need to be considered in addition to the enhancement of physical performance of the railway system such as maximum speed, speed at curve, and speed at turnout track. The parameters under complicated situation of railway system are from the areas of rolling stocks, track, power system, signalling, etc. In general, two different aspects of technical issues can be evaluated; Technical issues in the hardware aspect and technical issues in the software aspect. The hardware parameters include running performance, braking performance, and power performance, while the software factors are rules, regulations, and riding quality. In this investigation, a comparison study between hardware and software aspects in technical issues was conducted to provide technical information on the amendment of railway speed-up regulations.

A study of the improvement of the national technical qualification practical evaluation method for National Competency Standards in the seed and horticulture industry

  • The purpose of this study was to suggest an improvement plan ultimately to develop practical evaluation methods for national technical qualifications in the field of seeds and horticulture based on the National Competency Standards. Through this, national technical qualifications can be strengthened in terms of professionalism in the seeds and horticulture field. In order to conduct this study, the national technical qualification currently in use was matched to certain competency units and competency unit elements of National Competency Standards. We then visited an industrial site to understand the practical factors related to the technical, facility and equipment aspects of the seeds and horticulture industrial field, after which a practical evaluation exam was developed. Also, for a feasibility study, a pilot test assessment was conducted for students majoring in seeds and horticulture, with a survey also conducted with field experts and an advisory committee consisting of experts in seeds and horticulture. Based on the results, by suggesting an improvement plan for a practical evaluation method leading to better national technical qualifications in the field of seeds and horticulture, it was shown to be possible to improve knowledge, technical, and literacy aspects. This can lead to the training of outstanding technical professionals. Ultimately, the results here are expected to contribute to the improvement of the seeds and horticulture industry.

Ten technical aspects of baseplate fixation in reverse total shoulder arthroplasty for patients without glenoid bone loss: a systematic review

  • The aim of this systematic review was to collect evidence on the following 10 technical aspects of glenoid baseplate fixation in reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (rTSA): screw insertion angles; screw orientation; screw quantity; screw length; screw type; baseplate tilt; baseplate position; baseplate version and rotation; baseplate design; and anatomical safe zones. Five literature libraries were searched for eligible clinical, cadaver, biomechanical, virtual planning, and finite element analysis studies. Studies including patients >16 years old in which at least one of the ten abovementioned technical aspects was assessed were suitable for analysis. We excluded studies of patients with: glenoid bone loss; bony increased offset-reversed shoulder arthroplasty; rTSA with bone grafts; and augmented baseplates. Quality assessment was performed for each included study. Sixty-two studies were included, of which 41 were experimental studies (13 cadaver, 10 virtual planning, 11 biomechanical, and 7 finite element studies) and 21 were clinical studies (12 retrospective cohorts and 9 case-control studies). Overall, the quality of included studies was moderate or high. The majority of studies agreed upon the use of a divergent screw fixation pattern, fixation with four screws (to reduce micromotions), and inferior positioning in neutral or anteversion. A general consensus was not reached on the other technical aspects. Most surgical aspects of baseplate fixation can be decided without affecting fixation strength. There is not a single strategy that provides the best outcome. Therefore, guidelines should cover multiple surgical options that can achieve adequate baseplate fixation.

계층적 분석 방법을 활용한 3D콘텐츠 활성화 요인 중요도 분석 (Priority Analysis of Factors for Activating 3D Contents lndustry Using AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process))

  • 2009년 3D 영화인 '아바타'의 흥행 성공으로 본격적인 3D영화 시대가 열었다. 우리나라에서도 3D 콘텐츠에 대한 새로운 산업적 가능성이 예측되었고, 다양한 미디어 플랫폼에서 제작지원이 이루어지기 시작했다. 정부 또한 3D콘텐츠를 중심으로 한 콘텐츠산업 육성정책을 발표했다. 하지만 3D콘텐츠 산업은 활성화 되지 못하고 있다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 계층적분석방법(AHP, Analytic Hierarchy Process)을 적용하여 3D콘텐츠 산업 활성화에 있어 중요하게 고려되는 콘텐츠측면, 기술적측면 및 정책적측면의 상대적 중요도 분석을 통해 3D 활성화 미비의 원인을 파악해 보고자 하였다. 연구 결과, 콘텐츠 측면의 상대적 중요도가 기술적 측면과 정책적 측면보다 높게 분석되어서 콘텐츠 부족이 3D 활성화 미비의 주요 원인으로 판단되었으며, 기술적 측면의 하부요인으로 시각적 피로도와 같은 휴먼팩트의 완화가 선결되어야 할 과제로 분석되었다.

제조 벤처기업에 대한 벤처인증과 이노비즈 인증의 효과 차이 분석 (Analysis of Difference in Effect of Venture Certification and Innobiz Certification of Manufacturing Venture Enterprise)

  • 벤처를 지원하는 제도로써 벤처 인증과 이노비즈 인증, 경영혁신기업 인증의 제도 등이 있다. 본 연구는 '2010년 벤처기업정밀실태조사'의 데이터를 이용하여 벤처 인증과 이노비즈(InnoBiz) 인증의 생산적 측면과 기술적 비효율성 측면의 효과를 비교하였다. '벤처 인증'의 경우 정부에서 추측하는 6가지 벤처 인증의 효과 분야 중에서 재무적 효과에서는 생산성을 향상시키지만, 기술적 비효율성 제거에 대해서는 4개 분야에서 효과를 나타내는 것으로 나타났다. 반면 이노비즈 인증의 효과는 직접적 생산성 향상에는 효과가 적었고, 또한 기술적 비효율성 제거에도 다소 미미한 효과를 보였다. 그러나 이노비즈 인증의 경우 인증의 특색인 마케팅 능력제고 분야는 생산성과 기술적 비효율성 모두에서 유의적 효과를 나타내어 이노비즈 인증의 본래의 목표는 달성하고 있음을 보여 주었다.

Organizational Self-Assessment for Six Sigma Initiative

  • Six sigma is much less of a technical program than it is a leadership and cultural change program. Nevertheless, most of literatures on six sigma have mainly focused on technical and tactical aspects. This paper introduces a self-assessment for six sigma initiative in a major Korean software company. The self-assessment gives a valuable clue to how to manage leadership and cultural aspects of six sigma initiative.

심해석유 탐사 및 개발의 검토 (Review of Deepwater Petroleum Exploration & Production)

  • General aspects of deepwater petroleum exploration and production were identified and related technical challenges were addressed. Historical perspectives, insight, processes, and engineering applications are reviewed to enhance the design capability of the domestic offshore industry. The technical challenges and unique aspects of deepwater exploration and production were identified. The assessment of deepwater exploration, drilling, and production systems is a key stage for performing the front end engineering design (FEED). The global trends in deepwater development, including the feasibility for Korea, were reviewed.
