Idiopathic type-4 hiatal hernia in a middle-aged cat

  • A 6-year-old female domestic short hair cat presented with acute onset of vomiting, anorexia, lethargy, and tachypnea. The cat was apparently healthy prior to presentation without history of trauma. On diagnostic imagings, the entire stomach and spleen were detected in the thoracic cavity. An emergent celiotomy was performed, and a type-4 hiatal hernia was confirmed; the stomach, spleen, pancreas, and duodenum were herniated through the esophageal hiatus. It was corrected using phrenicoplasty, esophagopexy, and left-sided gastropexy and there was no recurrence 16 months after surgery. This is the first case report of an idiopathic type-4 hiatal hernia in a cat.

공학 교과목의 강의평점에 영향을 미치는 요인: CTL 프로그램 참여와 CQI 작성을 중심으로 (Influential Factors on Teaching Evaluation Scores in Engineering Subjects: Participating in CTL Program and Making of CQI)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze that hours for participating in CTL program and whether or not make of CQI have a effect on the student evaluation about teaching of engineering professor. This inquiry have done a multiple regression analysis that student evaluation grade of teaching on 2018-1st semester of 240 engineering subjects of N University in Chungcheongnam-do as dependent variable, and background factors and work factors as independent variable. Research results is follows. First, employment type haven't a effect on teaching evaluation scores. And subject type, student' concentration of class, teaching evaluation pre-scores have a positive effect on teaching evaluation rating, but student number have a negative effect. Second, hours for participating in CTL program haven't a effect on teaching evaluation scores, but to make of CQI report have a positive effect on teaching evaluation scores. And I suggested to make CQI for improve teaching evaluation scores and manage the quality of education.

e-러닝 콘텐츠의 정보제시방식이 교수실재감 및 학업성취도에 미치는 효과 (The Effect of e-Learning Contents' Information Presentation Method on Teaching Presence and Academic Achievement)

  • 본 연구는 이중부호화, 매체풍부성, 인지부하의 정도가 다른 e-러닝 콘텐츠가 학습에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고자 실행되었다. 이를 위해 e-러닝 콘텐츠의 학습내용 요약과 설명의 정보제시방식을 정보 양과 종류에 띠라 분류한 후, 교수실재감과 학업성취도에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 요약 제시방식은 텍스트형과 텍스트+그림형으로, 설명 제시방식은 음성형과 음성+영상형으로 구분하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 요약방식 중 텍스트+그림형의 교수실재감이 텍스트형보다 의의 있게 높았다. 둘째, 설명방식 중 음성형의 학업성취도가 음성+영상형보다 의의 있게 높았다. 셋째, 요약방식과 설명방식 간에 교수실재감과 학업성취도에서 유의미한 상호작용이 있었다.

A Case Study on the Implement of Teaching and Learning Models aiming at Training Creative Engineers: focused on the SICAT

  • The purpose of this paper is to apply the newly developed SICAT teaching and learning model to the actual scene of teaching and learning and draw a point of discussion for utilizing teaching and learning model, by uncovering the satisfaction of students and the inhibiting/facilitating elements when using the model. SICAT(Scientific Inquiry and Creative Activity with Technology; from here on SICAT), a teaching and learning model custom-built for engineering education, was developed, as more and more people paid attention to the demand for creative engineers. It was developed from the basis of PBL(Problem Based Learning), includes three sub-types which can be applied to the actual theory, design, and experimentation fields within engineering education. The three sub-types, which are ARDA(Analysis-Reasoning Activity & Discussion-Argumentation Activity), CoCD (Collaboration Activity & Capstone Design Activity), and ReSh(Reflection Activity & Sharing Activity), respectively support deductive and argumentation activities, creative design and collaboration activities, and retrospection and sharing activities. However, no research has been conducted to investigate whether or not there are inhibiting or facilitating elements in the application procedure, or what the rate of satisfaction for students is, when applying the SICAT model, which was newly developed to innovate existing engineering education, to the actual site of teaching and learning. Therefore, this research applied three types of SICAT teaching and learning models to the theory, design, and experimentation classes at the department of materials science and engineering at Hanyang University for eight weeks. After application, the students, teachers and tutors were surveyed and interviewed, and then the results analyzed in order to uncover inhibiting/facilitating elements and the rate of satisfaction. The satisfaction rate of students from the SICAT teaching and learning model was 3.78(in a perfect score of 5: The A type-3.65, The C type-3.80, The R type-3.90), and inhibiting/facilitating elements were drawn from the aspects of learning activities, support system. In conclusion, they can be contributed for implications of SICAT teaching and learning model universal use at engineering education in University.

초등학교 표현활동수업에서의 교수행동유형이 몰입과 유능감에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Teaching Behavior Type of Expression Activity Class on Flow and Competence in Elementary School)

  • 본 연구는 초등학교의 표현활동수업에서의 교수행동유형이 몰입 및 유능감에 미치는 영향을 알아보는데 목적이 있다. 본 연구에서는 B광역시 소재 초등학생을 모집단으로 선정하였다. 연구 설계에 준하여 비확률 표본추출방법 중의 하나인 편의표본추출법을 사용하여 표본을 추출하였다. 총 300부를 배포하여 280부를 회수하였고 응답이 불성실하거나 적합하지 않은 자료를 제외하고 216부를 최종분석에 사용하였다. 자료처리는 Window용 SPSS 통계 Package 22.0 Version을 이용하여 빈도분석, 탐색적 요인분석, 신뢰도 분석, 상관관계 분석 및 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 교수행동유형의 하위요인인 지시형, 권위형, 민주형, 보상형 모두 몰입에 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 교수행동유형의 하위요인인 민주형, 보상형은 유능감에 유의한 것으로 나타났으나, 지시형, 권위형은 유의하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 몰입은 유능감에 유의한 것으로 나타났다.

인터넷상에 올려진 Radiology Teaching File에 관한 연구 (Radiology Teaching Files on the Internet)

  • There is increasing attention about radiology teaching files on the Internet in the field of diagnostic radiology. The purpose of this study was to aid in the creation of new radiology teaching file by analysing the present radiology teaching file sites on the Internet with many aspects and evaluating images on those sites, using Macintosh IIci computer, 28.8kbps TelePort Fax/Modem, Netscape Navigator 2.0 software The results were as follow : 1. Analysis of radiology teaching file sites (l) Country distribution was the highest in USA(57.5%). (2) Average number of cases was 186 cases and radiology teaching file sites with search engine were 9 sites (22.5%). (3) At the method of case arrangement, anatomic area type and diagnosis type were found at the 10 sites(25%) each, question & answer type was found at the 9 sites(22.5%). (4) Radiology teaching file sites with oro-maxillofacial disorder were 9 sites(22.5%). (5) At the image format, GIF format was found at the 14 sites(35%). and ]pEG format found at the 14 sites(35%). (6) Created year was the highest in 1995(43.7%). (7) Continuing case upload was found at the 35 sites(87.5%). 2. Evaluation of images on the radiology teaching files (l) Average file size of GIF format (71 Kbyte) was greater than that of JPEG format(24 Kbyte). (p<0.001) (2) Image quality of GIF format was better than that of JPEG format. (p<0.001).

Immersive Learning Technologies in English Language Teaching: A Meta-Analysis

  • The aim of this study was to perform a meta-analysis of the learning outcomes of immersive learning technologies in English language teaching (ELT). This study examined 12 articles, yielding a total of 20 effect sizes. The Comprehensive Meta-Analysis (CMA) program was employed for data analysis. The findings revealed that the overall effect size was 0.84, implying a large effect size. Additionally, the mean effect sizes of the dependent variables revealed a large effect size for both the cognitive and affective domains. Furthermore, the study analyzed the impact of moderator variables such as sample scale, technology type, tool type, work type, program type, duration (sessions), the degree of immersion, instructional technique, and augmented reality (AR) type. Among the moderators, the degree of immersion was found to be statistically significant. In conclusion, the study results suggested that immersive learning technologies had a positive impact on learning in ELT.

초등 예비 교사와 현직 교사의 과학 교수 효능감에 관련된 몇 가지 배경 변인 연구 (A Study on Some Background Variables Related to the Science Teaching Efficacy Beliefs of Pre-service and In-service Elementary School Teachers)

  • In this study, we investigated the variables related to the science teaching efficacy beliefs of pre-service and in-service elementary school teachers. The participants were 176 freshmen and 260 seniors from an university of education and 234 teachers from 25 elementary schools located in Jeonju. Variables concerning pre-service teachers include their sex, career/study tracks (science or non-science), and the number of science courses taken either at high school or at university. Variables concerning in-service teachers include their sex, academic degree, the frequency and type of participation in science in-service training, and their teaching career experience. The Science Teaching Efficacy Beliefs Instrument was used to measure teachers' self-efficacy beliefs. The results indicated that the personal science teaching efficacy belief scores of seniors were significantly lower than those of freshmen and in-service teachers, whereas the science teaching outcome expectancy scores of seniors were significantly higher than those of freshmen. Among variables investigated, sex, career/study track, the number of science courses taken at high school, and the frequency and type of participation in science in-service training were found to significantly influence teachers' science teaching efficacy beliefs.

초등학교 수학과 교육과정에 근거한 도형영역 교수단위 추출 연구 (Extracting Teaching Units for the Area of Geometrical Figures Based on the Elementary School Mathematics Curriculum)

  • 이 연구는 강완, 김남준(2010) 이 Wittmann(1984)의 이론을 근거로 2007년 개정수학과 교육과정에 근거한 교수단위를 추출한 것과 동일한 방법을 통해 도형영역의 교수단위를 분석한 것이다. 교수단위는 수학에서 가르쳐야 할 내용들을 목적, 자료, 활동, 배경 등의 4 요소에 따라 알갱이 단위로 조직화 한 것이다. 본 연구에서는 2007년 개정수학과 교육과정 도형영역에서 추출된 교수단위의 특징과 제목을 분석하여 교수단위를 개념알기형, 개념적용형, 관계알기형으로 분류하여 교육적 의미를 살펴보았다. 또한, 도형영역의 교육과정연구에 어떻게 활용될 수 있는지 그 방안을 모색해 보았다. 앞으로 많은 수학연구자와 현장 교사의 참여로 교수단위가 보다 체계적으로 조직적으로 연구된다면 새로운 교육과정을 수립하는 데 중요한 자료로 활용될 수 있다.

  • At the conclusion from the hypothesis testing, there is a possibility of making Type I error and Type II error. The purpose of this article is to use this program in statistics teaching through developing the program for studying on the concept about these two errors, two kinds of the probability of errors by the variation of rejection region, two kinds of the probability of errors by the variation of sample size, the relations of the probability $\alpha$ and $\beta$ by these two errors, and power function, power curve.
