  • This study analyzes the motivation for selecting child-care profession, job environment, director's transformational leadership associated with child-care center teacher's (lead teacher and head teacher) role performance. The subjects of this study were 336 teachers (lead teacher and head teacher) who worked in a child-care center located in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. Data were collected through self-report questionnaires. Collected data were analyzed using the IBM SPSS Statistics ver. 23.0 program using t-test, F-test, analysis of variance, post-hoc analysis (Duncan), Pearson's correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. The results of the study are as follows. First, the study inquired on if the child-care center teacher's general characteristics (year) influence the child-care center teacher's role performance. Consequently, significant differences were not found in overall role performance according to teacher's career but not in the child-care center teacher's age, academic ability, and licensing. Second, the motivation for selecting profession (teaching aptitude, teacher's desire for social respect, and possibility of self-realization), job environment, and director's transformational leadership had a significant positive correlation with overall role performance. The motivation for selecting profession (without motives) had a significant negative correlation with overall role performance. Third, the strongest predictors of 'overall role performance' were teaching aptitude, variable of motivation for selecting child-care profession, and director's transformational leadership variable.

The findings were as follows: Among the sub-factors of major satisfaction based on DISC typy behavioral patterns, S type is higher in the contents of instruction and the way of teaching, the type C and S are higher in school facilities and environments. Among the sub-factors of job preference based on DISC typy behavioral patterns, the type D is higher in honor, development and stability, the type S is higher in aptitude, interest, development, stability and working environment, and the type C is higher in aptitude and interest. As DISC typy behavioral patterns, major satisfaction, and job preference were found to be related to one another, this finding should be considered when teaching career guidance for college students.

In order to provide the best curriculum appropriate for the student's level. (1) the diagnosis of the individual student's level should be made first ; (2) the syllabus focused both on the grammar and on the communicative functions should be prepared ; (3) the teaching material on the basis of the syllabus should be selected considering the student's interest. and requirements. The new method of teaching-learning English should also be developed with the enforcement of the new curriculum discussed here. The curriculum appropriate for the student's level has many kinds of problems but these disadvantages should be overcome for providing the better educational system for the individual student.

  • This study examined the multicultural efficacy and job satisfaction of multicultural family visiting instructors. The subjects were 750 visiting instructors from 140 multicultural family support centers in Seoul, 6 metropolitan cities, 9 provinces, and other cities and counties. Data were analyzed through frequency, percentages, Pearson's correlations, One-way ANOVA, Scheff$\acute{e}$ post-hoc test, independent t-test, and stepwise multi-regression using PASW 18.0. The findings are as follows. First, there were statistically significant differences in all subscales of multicultural efficacy according to the teaching experiences of the multicultural family visiting instructors. On the other hand, there was a statistically significant difference only in trust in the relationships with multicultural families according to the teaching experiences of the multicultural family visiting instructors. Meanwhile, the independent t-test showed that there was a significant difference only in satisfaction regarding treatment and salary according to the assigned work. Second, the stepwise multi-regression models revealed that three subscales (job performance, trust in the relationships with the multicultural families, job aptitude) of job satisfaction were influenced by multicultural efficacy according to both the teaching experiences and assigned work, but this was no the case for satisfaction about treatment and salary. Regardles of teaching experience or assigned work, teaching efficacy in multicultural efficacy affected all subscales of job satisfaction except for satisfaction about treatment and salary. The implications for future studies are also discussed.

  • The purpose of this research is to estimate the chemistry teacher's perceptions of Chemistry I course based on the 7th national curriculum through actual class teaching situations and interviews and teaching guidance of an actual class through a lesson and an interview. For this research, four chemistry teachers who have had an experience teaching the chemistry I course were selected. As the results of the research show, chemistry teachers had the correct understanding of the purpose of the Chemistry I course, but they were teaching the concepts of Chemistry II . They thought the reason for the teaching was the national scholastic aptitude test. But according to analysis, the contents of the previous tests were hardly beyond the limit of Chemistry I course. For this research, the chemistry teachers looked for the purpose of Chemistry I course based on the 7th curriculum only at the superficial views, and the teacher's wrong understanding about the tests disturbed the revelation of the spirit of Chemistry I course of the 7th national curriculum.

  • This study investigated differences in beliefs about English learning of 286 EFL college students and 52 English teachers in Korea. Data was collected using Horwitz's Beliefs About Language Learning Inventory and compared between students and teachers in beliefs. To address the research questions, the data were analyzed through descriptive statistics including frequencies, factor analysis, MANOVA, ANOVA, t-test, and reliability coefficients. The results showed four factors in student beliefs: Difficulty of learning English, nature of learning English, importance of correctness in learning English, and motivation and perceived importance of learning English. Clear differences were found in students and teachers' beliefs in English learning aptitude and importance of translation, error correction, and grammar rules. A few belief differences were also identified between Koreans and native-speaking English teachers related to the importance of vocabulary learning, pronunciation, and cultural knowledge. The findings of the study indicated that background variables such as gender and major field of study have an effect on student beliefs about L2 learning. The present study also provided pedagogical considerations to reduce mismatch between students and teachers beliefs and to improve the L2 planning and instruction.
