  • In this task, the tool dynamometer design and manufacture, and the Ansys S/W structural analysis program for tool attachment that satisfies the cutting force measurement requirements of the tool dynamometer system are used to determine the cutting force generated by metal cutting using 3-axis static structural analysis and the LabVIEW system. The cutting power in a cutting process using a milling tool for processing metals provides useful information for understanding the processing, optimization, tool status monitoring, and tool design. Thus, various methods of measuring cutting power have been proposed. The device consists of a strain-gauge-based sensor fitted to a new design force sensing element, which is then placed in a force reduction. The force-sensing element is designed as a symmetrical cross beam with four arms of a rectangular parallel line. Furthermore, data duplication is eliminated by the appropriate setting the strain gauge attachment position and the construction of a suitable Wheatstone full-bridge circuit. This device is intended for use with rotating spindles such as milling tools. Verification and machining tests were performed to determine the static and dynamic characteristics of the tool dynamometer. The verification tests were performed by analyzing the difference between strain data measured by weight and that derived by theoretical calculations. Processing test was performed by attaching a tool dynamometer to the MCT to analyze data generated by the measuring equipment during machining. To maintain high productivity and precision, the system monitors and suppresses process disturbances such as chatter vibration, imbalances, overload, collision, forced vibration due to tool failure, and excessive tool wear; additionally, a tool dynamometer with a high signal-to-noise ratio is provided.

  • This study aims to propose various ways to utilize CLO, which focuses mainly on the production of 3D virtual samples, by comparing it with the pattern drafting functions of Four apparel CAD experts, who have teaching experience in YUKA and CLO, participated in a focus group interview, and a basic bodice prototype drafting was carried out by each participant to evaluate the pattern drafting functions of YUKA and CLO. The result of this study showed that the pattern drafting tools of YUKA are subdivided since YUKA is a CAD tool inherently specialized in pattern making. Though CLO provided a relatively limited pattern drafting menu compared to YUKA, it was found that pattern drafting could be accomplished with the help of supplementary tools and functions. This finding suggests that each CAD offers the corresponding tools for the same use of menus or functions in the prototype drafting process. The major difference between YUKA and CLO is that YUKA defines the pattern area by a set of line segments, whereas CLO utilizes an outline composed of closed curves. YUKA provides various specific tools according to the options such as angles, straight lines, and curves, while CLO produces the same results using combinations of a limited number of tools. Compared with YUKA, the advantage of CLO is its user-friendly task environment such as the Windows-based user interface, from the usability perspective. This study concludes that pattern drafting education using CLO would help not only industrial 3D design practitioners but also pattern education in academia

  • As the postsecondary school-age population continues to decline, the competition among universities to attract potential students has intensified. As an alternative, we propose to introduce a collaborative marketing strategy to universities to gain the attention of precollege students and parents. This study examines perceived fit, the prestige of university and fashion brands, consumption values, and the category of fashion brands in the context of collaboration between university identity and fashion brands. Utilizing an online survey, we collected 391 responses. The results indicate that perceived fit between universities and fashion brands has a significant impact on the purchase intention of collaborative university merchandise. In addition, the prestige of fashion brands plays a key role, while the prestige of universities has no direct effect on purchase intention. However, the indirect effect of university prestige on purchase intention mediated by perceived fit is significant. Also, this study confirms that social value and emotional value have significant impacts on purchase intention. These findings present a guideline for selecting a collaborative partner, which is the most important task in a collaboration strategy. Finally, merchandising strategies reflected consumption values based on precollege students and their parents' needs are proposed.

  • As the range of sensor network's applicability is getting wider, it creates new application areas which is required real-time operation, such as military and detection of radioactivity. However, existing researches are focused on effective management for resources, existing sensor network operating system cannot support to real-time areas. In this paper, we propose the ${\mu}TMO$ model which is lightweight real-time distributed object model TMO. We design the real-time sensor network operation system ${\mu}TMO-NanoQ+$ which is based on ETRI's sensor network operation system Nano-Q+. We modify the Nano-Q+'s timer module to support high resolution and apply Context Switch Threshold, Power Aware scheduling techniques to realize lightweight scheduler which is based on EDF. We also implement channel based communication way ITC-Channel and periodic thread management module WTMT.

  • In this paper, we propose a Web navigation guidance system which automatically provides a user with semantically related links based on an ontology. The system associates each web page to a concept in the ontology and creates new links between web pages by considering relationships of the concepts defined in the ontology. It focuses on enhancing web navigation by offering semantic links based on an ontology. We experimented the proposed system with 5th grade students who were performing tasks by searching Web pages and found that the degree of disorientation, the ratio of revisits for Web pages, and time spent for completing tasks for students in the experimental group were smaller than those for students in the control group. In addition, the task performance ratio for students in the experimental group were higher than that for students in the control group. It is expected that the proposed system can help design a navigable web site that is important in Web-based education.

  • This paper presents the design of the Safety Programmable Logic Controller (SPLC) used in the Nuclear Power Plants, an analysis of a reliability for the SPLC using a markov model. The architecture of the SPLC is designed to have the multiple modular redundancy composed of the Dual Modular Redundancy(DMR) and the Triple Modular Redundancy(TMR). The operating system of the SPLC is designed to have the non-preemptive state based scheduler and the supervisory task managing the sequential scheduling, timing of tasks, diagnostic and security. The data communication of the SPLC is designed to have the deterministic state based protocol, and is designed to satisfy the effective transmission capacity of 20Mbps. Using Markov model, the reliability of SPLC is analyzed, and assessed. To have the reasonable reliability such as the mean time to failure (MTTF) more than 10,000 hours, the failure rate of each SPLC module should be less than $2{\times}10^{-5}$/hour. When the fault coverage factor (FCF) is increased by 0.1, the MTTF is improved by about 4 months, thus to enhance the MTTF effectively, it is needed that the diagnostic ability of each SPLC module should be strengthened. Also as the result of comparison the SPLC and the existing safety grade PLCs, the reliability and MTTF of SPLC is up to 1.6-times and up to 22,000 hours better than the existing PLCs.
