다중로봇을 휘한 관리제어 시스템의 설계 (A design of supervisory control system for a multi-robot system)

  • This paper presents a design experience of a control language for coordination of a multi-robot system. To effectively program job commands, a Petrinet-type Graphical Robot Language(PGRL) is proposed, where some functions, such as concurrency and synchronization, for coordination among tasks can be easily programmed.In our system, the proposed task commands of PGRL are implemented by employing formal model languages, which are composed of three modules, sensory, data handling, and action module. It is expected that by using our proposed PGRL and formal languages, one can easily describe a job or task, and hence can effectively operate a complex real-time and concurrent system. The control system is being implemented by using VME-based 32-bit microprocessor boards for supervisory, each module controller(arm, hand, leg, sensor data processing module) and a real time multi-tasking operating system(VxWorks). The Operation of Domestic Women's Apparel Fashion Designer - Focusing on Brand type and Fashion Merchandising Process -

  • For comprehending the duties of fashion designer, Sharon(1989) has suggested to look at the procedure how the goods are being produced. The purpose of this research is to identify the task of domestic fashion designer by comparing and analyzing one's work range and performing level in the fashion merchandising process according to the brand types which one is involved in. The preliminary research for the questionnaire was conducted with 5 chief designers of woman's apparel manufactures in Seoul. They were asked to judge if designer's tasks fit to their carry-out operations in the pre-fixed questionnaire which had been done based on preliminary researches and literatures related with fashion merchandising process. The contents of research questionnaire are 11 questions to understand the general characteristics of companies and the participated subjects, and 42 questions to understand the designers' operations. For the selection of NB, among 503 domestic female apparel brands that were in 'Korean Textile Fashion yearbook (2002-2003), the companies that were located in Seoul and possible for cooperation by researcher's personal relationship were selected. For DB, cooperation was requested for brands that were located in Seoul among the 137 brands that participates on Domestic Collection. For GB, 50 stores were selected at random or by personal relationship among 32 GB shops such as Freya Town, Doosan Tower, New Zone, and so on. Total 300 questionnaire distributed to the designers, 192 copies were used for final data analysis. For data analysis, descriptive statistics and ANOVA, Sceffe test were used using SPSS V. 11 1. The participated fashion designers operated 41 categories of suggested 42 categories in the fashion merchandising process. 2. The ranges and contents of tasks in the fashion merchandising process that fashion designers mainly carry-out are very different according to the brand types and showed much different level of task carry-out. Only in the categories of 'fashion trend information' and 'design ideation', all three brand type showed the highest level of task performance. And the design related tasks presented common higher level of performance than the other tasks in all brand types. In order to comprehend the operation of fashion designer, various approaching methods are required according to various apparel manufactures' characteristics.

  • 최근 인터넷 환경에서의 기술 향상으로 인하여 다양한 정보를 공유하고, 네트워크로 연결된 여러 시스템 자원을 이용하는 것이 용이하게 되었다. 특히, 자바의 애플릿(applet)을 이용한 코드 이동(code migration) 기술은 인터넷의 웹 환경에서 프로그램의 분산을 용이하게 하며, 그 애플릿을 수행하는 브라우저는 이동된 코드의 신뢰성을 보장해준다. 본 논문은 웹 환경에서 이동 가능 코드를 분산시키고, 대량의 연산수행을 지닌 작업을 분배하여 병렬적으로 수행시킨 뒤, 그 결과를 취합하는 웹 기반 병렬 시스템의 설계 및 구현에 관하여 기술한다. 또한, 이 시스템에 참여하는 이질적인 다수의 호스트들은 인터넷이라는 환경에서 지리적으로 떨어져 연결되어 있으므로 성능의 차이 및 가변성을 예상하기 힘들다. 그러므로, 그들 간의 성능 차이를 고려한 태스크 할당 알고리즘 및 심각한 가변성에 대한 적응력이 요구된다. 이 논문에서는 시스템의 구현에 사용될 적응성 향상 기법을 제시하고, 시스템의 작업 처리 성능 및 제안하는 알고리즘들의 효율을 나타내는 성능 평가 결과를 제시한다.

자연과학분야 연구자들의 연구계획서 작성을 위한 정보추구행동의 탐색적 연구 (An Exploratory Study of Natural Scientists' Information Seeking Behavior When Writing a Research Proposal)

  • 본 연구는 자연과학분야 연구자들이 펀딩을 획득하기 위해 연구계획서를 작성할 때 발생하는 정보요구 및 정보추구행동과 이러한 정보행동에 영향을 미치는 요소를 파악하는 것을 목표로 한다. 정보행동의 하위분야인 과업중심 정보추구행동을 바탕으로, 질적연구방법인 심층면담과 다이어리 연구를 통해 연구자들의 정보행동에 대해 조사하였다. 연구결과로 자연과학분야 연구자들의 연구계획서 작성과 관련된 구체적인 하위업무가 드러났는데 커뮤니케이션 관련 업무가 제일 활발히 수행되었다. 그리고 펀딩 지원 관련, 연구 설계 관련 정보요구가 발생하였고 정보요구 해결을 위해 인적자원, 문서, 온라인 데이터베이스, 웹사이트가 주된 정보원으로 이용되었다. 이러한 정보행동에는 개인적 요소, 과업관련 요소, 사회문화적 요소가 영향을 주고 있는 것으로 드러났다. 본 연구의 결과는 연구자의 펀딩 확보 활동에 관련된 정보행동에 대한 이해를 높이고 연구자의 펀딩 지원을 돕기 위한 정보서비스 전략 수립의 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

Utilizing Usability Metrics to Evaluate a Subway Map Design

  • Objective: This study aims to evaluate the efficiency of two representative subway map design types, namely a diagram type and a geographical type using physiological metrics, performance metrics, and self-reported metrics, which are representative usability metrics. Background: Subway maps need to be designed in order for users to quickly search and recognize subway line information. Although most cities' subway maps currently use the diagram type designed by Henry Beck, New York City's subway map has recently been changed to the subway map type combined with the geographical type designed by Michael Hertz. However, not many studies on its efficiency are found, and the studies that are available mainly depend on questionnaire surveys or take on a subjective behavioral study type based on experts' experiences. In this regard, evaluation through a more objective method is needed. Method: This study employed usability metrics as a method to evaluate the efficiency of information search targeting the diagram type and geographical type subway maps used mostly as subway maps. To this end, physiological metrics obtained through eye tracking, task completion time, representative metric of task performance, and subjective evaluation metrics were used for the suitability evaluation of subway map designs. Results: In the result of gaze movement distance analysis, no significant difference was shown in the two design types in terms of a process finding a departure station from the starting point and a process finding a transfer station between the departure station and arrival station (destination). However, the gaze movement distance in the process finding the arrival station at the departure station was significantly shorter in the geographical type, rather than in the diagram type. The analysis of task completion time showed a result similar to the gaze movement distance analysis result. Task completion time was significantly shorter in the geographical type, rather than in the diagram type, which is in the process finding the arrival station at the departure station. In other information search processes, no significant difference was shown. As a result of subjective evaluation metrics analysis, no significant difference was revealed in the two design types. Conclusion: An analysis on the two representative subway map design types was carried out via the adoption of usability metrics. As a result, although no significant difference was shown in some information search processes, it was revealed that information search was easier in the geographical type overall. Also, it was found that usability metrics can be effectively used to evaluate the design types of subway maps. Application: The study results can be used to set design direction to offer ease in information search on subway lines. The study also can be used as a method to evaluate a subway map's design type.

AUTOSAR기반 EPS 시스템 소프트웨어 컴포넌트의 스케줄링 설계 및 시뮬레이션 (Scheduling Design and Simulation of Software Components for EPS System based on AUTOSAR)

  • Through the AUTOSAR methodology, the embedded software shall become more flexible, reusable, maintainable than ever. However, it is not mentioned about specific timing constraints of software components in AUTOSAR. There are a few basic principles for mapping runnable entities. At this point, AUTOSAR software design with optimal scheduling method is one of the enabling technologies in vehicle embedded system. This paper presents an approach based on mapping runnable entities and task scheduling design method for EPS (Electric Power Steering) software components, based on AUTOSAR. In addition, the experimental results of concurrent simulation show that the proposed scheduling technique and timing synchronization in the software component design can achieve the improved torque ripple performance and it well suited for EPS application software.

A Dual Problem of Calibration of Design Weights Based on Multi-Auxiliary Variables

  • Singh (2013) considered the dual problem to the calibration of design weights to obtain a new generalized linear regression estimator (GREG) for the finite population total. In this work, we have made an attempt to suggest a way to use the dual calibration of the design weights in case of multi-auxiliary variables; in other words, we have made an attempt to give an answer to the concern in Remark 2 of Singh (2013) work. The same idea is also used to generalize the GREG estimator proposed by Deville and S$\ddot{a}$rndal (1992). It is not an easy task to find the optimum values of the parameters appear in our approach; therefore, few suggestions are mentioned to select values for such parameters based on a random sample. Based on real data set and under simple random sampling without replacement design, our approach is compared with other approaches mentioned in this paper and for different sample sizes. Simulation results show that all estimators have negligible relative bias, and the multivariate case of Singh (2013) estimator is more efficient than other estimators.

Comprehensive evaluation method for user interface design in nuclear power plant based on mental workload

  • Mental workload (MWL) is a major consideration for the user interface design in nuclear power plants (NPPs). However, each MWL evaluation method has its advantages and limitations, thus the evaluation and control methods based on multi-index methods are needed. In this study, fuzzy comprehensive evaluation (FCE) theory was adopted for assessment of interface designs in NPP based on operators' MWL. An evaluation index system and membership functions were established, and the weights were given using the combination of the variation coefficient and the entropy method. The results showed that multi-index methods such as performance measures (speed of task and error rate), subjective rating (NASA-TLX) and physiological measure (eye response) can be successfully integrated in FCE for user interface design assessment. The FCE method has a correlation coefficient compared with most of the original evaluation indices. Thus, this method might be applied for developing the tool to quickly and accurately assess the different display interfaces when considering the aspect of the operators' MWL.

심전도 반응 기반 경쟁, 협동 게임 참여자의 몰입 판단 알고리즘 개발 (Engagement classification algorithm based on ECG(electrocardiogram) response in competition and cooperation games)

  • 최근 청소년들의 인터넷 및 스마트폰 과도한 사용이 사회적 이슈가 되어왔다. 작업에 대한 몰입 수준은 좋은 결과물을 만들 수 있는 긍정적 효과와 과 몰입 같은 부정적 효과를 모두 가지고 있다. 본 연구는 심혈관 반응 기반의 몰입 상태를 판단하는 알고리즘을 개발하고자 하였다. 피험자들은 무 자극 상태, 그리고 몰입을 유발하기 위한 패턴 맞추기 게임을 수행하였고, 몰입 수준을 제공하기 위해 협력과 경쟁 태스크로 나누어 실험 디자인 하였다. 각 태스크에 따라 심박과 진폭의 상관성을 분석하고 다항식 회귀 분석을 통해 회귀식 및 정확도를 확인하였다. 결과는 게임 태스크일 때, 심박과 진폭은 양의 상관성을 보였으며 무자극일 때 음의 상관성을 보였다. 개발된 다차항 회귀식으로 게임 태스크와 무 자극을 구분하는 정확도는 평균 89%의 정확도를 보였다. 태스크간의 차이는 76.5% 정확도를 확인하였다. 본 연구는 실시간으로 몰입 수준을 정량적으로 평가하는데 사용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

A GA-based Floorplanning method for Topological Constraint

  • The floorplanning problem is an essential design step in VLSI layout design and it is how to place rectangular modules as density as possible. And then, as the DSM advances, the VLSI chip becomes more congested even though more metal layers are used for routing. Usually, a VLSI chip includes several buses. As design increases in complexity, bus routing becomes a heavy task. To ease bus routing and avoid unnecessary iterations in physical design, we need to consider bus planning in early floorplanning stage. In this paper, we propose a floorplanning method for topological constraint consisting of bus constraint and memory constraint. The proposed algorithms based on Genetic Algorithm(GA) is adopted a sequence pair. For selection control, new objective functions are introduced for topological constraint. Studies on floor planning and cell placement have been reported as being applications of GA to the LSI layout problem. However, no studies have ever seen the effect of applying GA in consideration of topological constraint. Experimental results show improvement of bus and memory constraint.
