Determinants of Functional MicroRNA Targeting

  • MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play cardinal roles in regulating biological pathways and processes, resulting in significant physiological effects. To understand the complex regulatory network of miRNAs, previous studies have utilized massivescale datasets of miRNA targeting and attempted to computationally predict the functional targets of miRNAs. Many miRNA target prediction tools have been developed and are widely used by scientists from various fields of biology and medicine. Most of these tools consider seed pairing between miRNAs and their mRNA targets and additionally consider other determinants to improve prediction accuracy. However, these tools exhibit limited prediction accuracy and high false positive rates. The utilization of additional determinants, such as RNA modifications and RNA-binding protein binding sites, may further improve miRNA target prediction. In this review, we discuss the determinants of functional miRNA targeting that are currently used in miRNA target prediction and the potentially predictive but unappreciated determinants that may improve prediction accuracy.

Accuracy Improvement of Stereo-Based Distance Measurement for Close Range Vessel Positioning

  • This paper describes a distance measurement system with high accuracy that utilizes a stereo-based camera and a pan-tilt unit for automatically maintaining the positional relationship between a vessel and a target on the side of a facility at a close range. The measurement system offers an advantage in that it can measure the distance to a target while tracking it. In order to improve the ability to control the position of a vessel between it and a target while maintaining the distance especially at a close range, the accuracy of the measurement system has to be improved. The accuracy of the distance measured by our system is increased with revisions of the conclusively generated data of distance measurement. We verified the accuracy of our system from an experiment, which generated results that had an accuracy of 30 mm for distances in the range between 2-8 m.

  • In object tracking based on the particle filter algorithm controlling the proper distribution of the samples is essential to accurately track the target. If the samples are spread too wide compared to the target size, the tracking accuracy may degrade as some samples can be caught by background clutters that is similar to the target. On the other hands if the samples are spread too narrow, the particle filter may fail to track the abrupt motion of the target. To solve this problem we propose an improved particle filter that adopts "re-weighting" technique at the observe step. We estimate the distribution of the weights of the current samples by its mean and variance. Then the samples are re-weighted so that the appropriate distribution of the samples in proportional to the target scale is obtained at the next select step. The proposed tracking method can avoid convergence to local mean and improve the accuracy of the estimated target state.

지상 전투차량의 명중률 영향요소 분석을 위한 포의 동역학 해석 (Dynamic Analysis of the Turret for Analyzing the Accuracy Impact Factor of the Ground Combat Vehicle)

  • There are many factors that contribute to hit probability of the gun shot of ground combat vehicles. Aiming accuracy is mainly affected by the dynamic state of the vehicle. The stabilization error of the turret under system vibration is one of the major factors that affect the aiming accuracy. The vibration of the vehicle is affected by both the state of the road and the speed of the vehicle. This paper analyzes the aiming accuracy of the gun equipped on the GCV when the vehicle drives on the different roads and at different speed. The vertical displacement and the pitch angle of the gun are calculated and the impact points of the target are calculated. Distribution of the impact points on the target is greatly influenced by the pitch rotation rather than vertical displacement. And this aiming errors result in the errors of point of impacts on the target after the bullet flies through the air under trajectory equations. The GCV is modeled using a half-car model with 6 D.O.F. and the specifications of the M2 machine gun are used in trajectory calculation simulation and the target is located in 1000 m away from the gun.

Structurally Enhanced Correlation Tracking

  • In visual object tracking, Correlation Filter-based Tracking (CFT) systems have arouse recently to be the most accurate and efficient methods. The CFT's circularly shifts the larger search window to find most likely position of the target. The need of larger search window to cover both background and object make an algorithm sensitive to the background and the target occlusions. Further, the use of fixed-sized windows for training makes them incapable to handle scale variations during tracking. To address these problems, we propose two layer target representation in which both global and local appearances of the target is considered. Multiple local patches in the local layer provide robustness to the background changes and the target occlusion. The target representation is enhanced by employing additional reversed RGB channels to prevent the loss of black objects in background during tracking. The final target position is obtained by the adaptive weighted average of confidence maps from global and local layers. Furthermore, the target scale variation in tracking is handled by the statistical model, which is governed by adaptive constraints to ensure reliability and accuracy in scale estimation. The proposed structural enhancement is tested on VTBv1.0 benchmark for its accuracy and robustness.

  • The theodolite system consists of two theodolites, a scale bar and a target bu. A measurement accuracy of theodolite system is affected by a measurement distance of each equipment. This study was performed fir measuring an accuracy when the distance from theodolite to scale bar was changed 2~ 6 m on two theodolites distance 3 a The results showed thai the measurement accuracy could be $\pm$0.021 mm when the distance from theodolite to target was 2,3 and 6 n Specially, it was found that the maximum measurement accuracy was 10.017mm on theodolite collimation distance 3m and the distance 4 m of the theodolite and scale bar.

  • The affected factors for an accuracy of theodolite system are not only the measurement environment of temperature, illumination, etc. but also the measurement processes of the distance between two theodolites, the distance from theodolite system to scale bar and the distance from theodolite system to targets. We have known that the best collimation distance between two theodolites and the best distance from theodolite system to scale bar is $3{\sim}4m$. This study was performed for searching the best distance from theodolite system to targets on above measurement configuration. And, we could know that the best distance from theodolite system to targets is $2{\sim}6m$ and the system accuracy could be within ${\pm}0.025mm$.

간접 분기의 타형태 타겟 주소의 정확한 예측 (Accurate Prediction of Polymorphic Indirect Branch Target)

  • 현대적인 프로세서들은 그 성능을 높이기 위해서 분기 예측과 같은 투기적인 방식으로 가용한 ILP 즉 명령어 수준의 병렬성을 추구한다. 전통적으로, 분기 방향은 2-단계 예측기를 사용하여 아주 높은 비율의 정확도로 예측이 가능하고, 분기 타겟 주소는 BTB를 사용하여 예측한다. 간접 분기를 제외한 모든 분기들은 그 자신의 타겟 주소가 유일하기 때문에 BTB로 거의 정확하게 예측되지만, 간접 분기는 그 타겟 주소가 동적으로 수시로 달라지기 때문에 예측하기가 매우 어렵다. 일반적으로, 분기 방향을 예측하는 기술을 간접 분기의 타겟 주소를 예측하는데 적용하여 전통적인 BTB 보다 훨씬 좋은 정확도를 얻고 있다. 본 논문에서는 간접 분기 명령과 이와 데이터 종속적인 관계를 갖고 있는 이 간접 분기 명령 보다 훨씬 앞서 수행되는 명령어의 레지스터 내용을 결합하여 간접 분기의 타겟을 예측하는 전혀 새로운 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방식의 효율성을 검증하기 위해 심플스칼라 시뮬레이터 상에서 제안된 예측기를 구현하고 SPEC 벤치마크를 시뮬레이션하여, 수시로 바뀌는 간접분기의 타겟을 거의 완벽하게 예측할 수 있음을 보이고, 기존의 다른 어떤 방법보다도 우수한 결과임을 보인다.

  • 항공관제시스템을 구성하는 하부 시스템중 하나인 감시자료처리시스템(SDP, Surveillance Data Processor)은 항공 감시 레이더 등 다양한 감시 센서로부터 감시자료를 전달 받아 항공기의 항적을 추적하는 시스템으로서, SDP의 항적 추적 성능은 항공기의 안전 운항에 직접적인 영향을 미친다. 따라서 개발과정에서 SDP의 요구 성능에 대한 검증은 필수적이며, 특히 대표적인 다중 센서 다중 타겟 추적(Multi-Sensor Multi-Target Tracking)시스템으로서 다양한 타겟 추적 방법이 존재함에 따라 정량적인 추적 정확도 성능 평가가 중요하게 여겨지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 현재 한국항공우주연구원에서 개발 중인 SDP의 항적 추적 성능 검증을 위한 요구 성능 정의, 테스트 환경 구축, 테스트 결과에 대해 정리하였다.

Prediction of eLoran Positioning Accuracy with Locating New Transmitter

  • eLoran refers to a terrestrial navigation system using high-power low-frequency signals. Thus, it can be regarded as a positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) system to back up a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) or an alternative to GNSS. South Korea is vulnerable to interference such as GNSS jamming in particular. Therefore, South Korea has made an effort to develop an independent navigation system through eLoran system. More particularly, an eLoran testbed has been developed to be used in the northwest sea area and research on applicability of eLoran in South Korea has been underway. The present study analyzes expected performance of eLoran according to locations of newly built eLoran transmitting stations as part of the eLoran testbed research. The performance of eLoran is analyzed in terms of horizontal position accuracy, and horizontal dilution of precision (HDOP) information was used since it affects accuracy significantly. The target service areas of the eLoran testbed are Incheon and Pyeongtaek Ports, and the required target performance is positioning accuracy of 20 m position within 30 km coverage of the target service area.
