  • In this paper, we have described a Simulated Radar Target Generation Equipment(SRTGE) for evaluating the performance of a developed radar system. In order to change a simulated target range(or time delay), the variable optical delay line structure is used in SRTGE, In addition, SRTGE is required to generate a target return signal which is composed of variable amplitude and Doppler velocity. The interference such as noise jamming and clutter is also produced from SRTGE for evaluating ECCM(Electronic-Counter-Counter Measure) capability of radar.

  • Estimating underwater target state variables(position, velocity, course, etc) is necessary to counteract threatening targets. In passive sonar systems, conventional target motion analysis(TMA) techniques using bearing and frequency measurements of an underwater target are widely introduced. However, it is not clear how conventional TMA techniques can be used if some of frequency measurements are unavailable during parts of the scenario, partially unavailable frequency measurements are common in the ocean with complicated acoustic conditions where frequency measurements often come and go. This paper proposes a new TMA algorithm, which is robust to partially unavailable frequency measurements, using the frequency measurements fusion method.

  • This paper presents a multiple target tracking system using target feature information. In the proposed system, the state of target is defined as its kinematic as well as feature : the kinematic includes a location and a velocity; the feature contains the image correlation between a prior target and a current measurement. The feature information is used for generating the validation matrix and association probability of joint probabilistic data association (JPDA) algorithm. Through the Kalman filter, the target kinematic is updated. Then the tracking information is cycled by the track management algorithm. The system has been evaluated using the images obtained from Electro-Optics/ InfraRed (EO/IR) sensor. It is verified that the proposed system can reduce the complexity burden of JPDA process and can enhance the track maintenance rate.

  • In this study a path control scheme of simulation models of various vehicles to evaluate their handling characteristic is developed. Based on the forward target method, path deviation error is estimated and the required steering effort to reduce the error is computed by Ziegler-Nichols PID control rule. Velocity control model is also included in the proposed path control scheme to achieve the desired velocity. The path control scheme is implemented on a full vehicle model to perform ISO test procedures, such as steady state cornering, lane change, and sinusoidal input, etc. Through the simulations of ISO test procedures and comparison with actual tests, effectiveness and validity of the path control model is demonstrated.

  • In this paper, The Frenet-Serret formula of classical geometric curve theory with the concept of a missile pointing velocity vector are used to analyze and design a missile guidance law. The capture capability of this guidance law is qualitatively studied by comparing the rotations of the velocity vectors of missile and target relative to the line of sight vector. when fuzzy Table look-up theory applied in target-missile distance & angle displacement, this research. It's performance is better then classical research.

  • Self-organizing systems arise very naturally in artificial intelligence, and in physical, biological and social sciences. In this paper, we modify the classic Cucker-Smale model at both microscopic and macroscopic levels by taking the target motion pattern driving forces into consideration. Such target motion pattern driving force functions are properly defined for the line-shaped motion pattern and the ball-shaped motion pattern. For the modified Cucker-Smale model with the prescribed line-shaped motion pattern, we have analytically shown that there is a flocking pattern with an asymptotic flocking velocity. This is illustrated by numerical simulations using both symmetric and non-symmetric pairwise influence functions. For the modified Cucker-Smale model with the prescribed ball-shaped motion pattern, our simulations suggest that the solution also converges to the prescribed motion pattern.

  • An efficient and accurate algorithm is proposed to estimate flutter safety factor of suspension bridges satisfying prescribed reliability levels. Uncertainties which arise from the basic wind speed at the bridge deck location, critical flutter velocity, the wind conversion factor from a scaled model to the prototype structure and the gust speed factor are incorporated. The proposed algorithm integrates the concepts of the inverse reliability method and the calculation method of the critical flutter velocity of suspension bridges. The unique feature of the proposed method is that it offers a tool for flutter safety assessment of suspension bridges, when the reliability level is specified as a target to be satisfied by the designer. Accuracy and efficiency of this method with reference to three example suspension bridges is studied and numerical results validate its superiority over conventional deterministic method. Finally, the effects of various parameters on the flutter safety factor of suspension bridges are also investigated.

  • In this paper, two Fuzzy Logics for path planning of an autonomous mobile robot are proposed. If a target point is given, such problems regarding the velocity and object recognition are closely related with path to which the mobile robot navigates. Therefore, to ensure safety navigation of the mobile robot for two fuzzy logic parts, path planning considering the surrounding environment was performed in this paper. First, feature points for local and global path are determined by utilizing Cell Decomposition off-line computation. Second, the on-line robot using two Fuzzy Logics navigates around path when it tracks the feature points. We demonstrated optimized path planning only for local path using object recognition fuzzy logic corresponds to domestic situation. Furthermore, when navigating, the robot uses fuzzy logic for velocity and target angle. The proposed algorithms for path planning has been implemented and tested with pioneer-dxe mobile robot.

  • In this study, the penetration characteristic from the cubic and cylindrical penetrator consisting of tungsten material with the velocity of 2,300 m/s is evaluated and the penetration possibility into the target is confirmed. The design of shape and size of penetrator is directly related to space and weight of the warhead. AUTODYN-3D simulation is used to study the penetration effect of penetrator. The purpose of numerical analysis is to verify the penetration characteristic with various L/D penetrator. The penetration performance of penetrator with identical weight due to the shape is also confirmed. The cylindrical and cubic penetrator has enough penetration energy on constant target body. Because the possibility of 2'nd penetration is important factor after 1'st penetration into target body, residual velocity of residual mass must be existed as much as possible. As geometrical shape ratio increases, penetration performance is confirmed to improve.

  • In this paper, a transmitter and a receiver using a Gunn diode and SBD was designed and fabricated in X-band. This system detects Doppler shift signal reflected by moving target through the homodyne detection, which is Doppler radar sensor for the measurement of the velocity of moving target. By the experimental results, the oscillating condition of the transmitter was satisfied at about the half wavelength between the supporting post of the Gunn diode in the waveguide and the waveguide short. And using the fabricated Doppler radar sensor, the velocity measurement deviation of moving target was 1.24%.
