일정표면적 변단면 보의 자유진동 (Free Vibrations of Tapered Beams with Constant Surface Area)

  • This paper deals with free vibrations of the tapered beams with the constant surface area. The surface area of the objective beams are always held constant regardless shape functions of the cross-sectional depth. The shape functions are chosen as the linear and parabolic ones. Ordinary differential equations governing free vibrations of such beams are derived and solved numerically for determining the natural frequencies. In the numerical examples, hinged-hinged, hinged-clamped and clamped-clamped end constraints are considered. As the numerical results, the relationships between non-dimensional frequency parameters and various beam parameters such as section ratio, surface area ratio, end constraint and taper type are reported in tables and figures. Especially, section ratios of the strongest beam are calculated, under which the maximum frequencies are achieved.

  • This paper deals with free vibrations of the tapered circular arches with constant volume, whose cross sectional shape is the solid regular polygon. Volumes of the objective arches are always held constant regardless shape functions of the cross-sectional depth. The shape functions are chosen as the linear, parabolic and sinusoidal ones. Ordinary differential equations governing free vibrations of such arches are derived and solved numerically for determining the natural frequencies. In the numerical examples, hinged-hinged, hinged-clamped and clamped-clamped end constraints are considered. As the numerical results, the relationships between non-dimensional frequency parameters and various arch parameters such as rise ratio, section ratio, side number, volume ratio and taper type are reported in tables and figures.

  • The main purpose of this paper is to determine the dynamic optimal shapes of tapered column with constant volume. The linear, parabolic and sinusoidal tapers with the regular polygon cross-section are considered, whose material volume and span length are always held constant. The ordinary differential equation including the effect of axial load is applied to calculate the natural frequencies. The Runge-Kutta method and Regula-Falsi methods are used to integrate the differential equation and compute the frequencies, respectively. Then the dynamic optimal shape whose lowest natural frequency is highest is determined by reading the critical value of the frequency versus section ratio curve plotted by the frequency data. In the numerical examples, the tapered columns are analysed and the numerical result of this study are shown in table and figures.

형상계수를 이용한 사질토 지반에 타설된 테이퍼말뚝의 지지력 산정 (Calculation of Bearing Capacity of Tapered Drilled Shafts in Cohesionless Soils Using Shape Factor)

  • 지반조건과 말뚝의 테이퍼각도가 태야퍼말뚝의 지지력에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위해서 원통형말뚝과 테이퍼각도가 다른 두 개의 메이퍼딸뚝을 이용해서 모형말뚝재하시험을 수행하였다. 시험결과에 띠르면 지반의 평균응력과 상대밀도가 커지면 테이퍼말뚝의 단위 선단지지력은 증가하였고, 말뚝의 테이퍼각도가 커집에 따라 느슨한 지반에서는 단위 선단지지력은 증가하였으나 조밀한 지반에서는 단위 선단지지력이 반대로 감소하였다. 그리고 테이퍼말뚝의 단위 주면마찰력은 지반의 수평 및 연직응력과 상대밀도, 말뚝의 테이퍼각도가 커짐에 따라 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 한편, 모형말뚝재하시험의 결과에 근거해서 형상계수를 표함한 테이퍼말뚝의 지지력 산정식을 제안하였고, 이 제안식에서는 지반조건과 테이퍼각도가 말뚝의 지지력에 미치는 영향이 고려되였다. 제안한 지지력 산정식에 대한 정확도를 검증하기 위해서 점토질 모래지반에 설치된 중간규모의 원통형말뚝과 테이퍼말뚝에 대한 현장재하시험이 실시되었고, 이때 측정된 지지력이 제안식에서 얻은 예측치와 비교되었다. 그 결과 제안된 지지력 산정식은 테이퍼말뚝의 지지력을 비교적 정확하게 예측하는 것으로 나타났다.

  • Numerical methods are developed for calculating the natural frequencies and mode shapes of the tapered cantilever arches with variable curvature. The differential equations governing the free vibrations of such arches are derived and solved numerically, in which the effect of rotatory inertia is included. The parabolic shape is chosen as the arch with variable curvature while both the prime and quadratic arched members are considered as the tapered arch with variable curvature while both the prime and quadratic arched members are considered as the tapered arch. Comparisons the natural jfrequencies between this study and finite element method SAP 90 seve to validate the numerical method developed herein. The lowest four natural frequencies are reported as a function of four non-dimensional system parameters. The effects of both the rotatory inertia and cross-sectional shape are reported. Also, the typical mode shapes of stress resultants as well as the displacements are reported.

  • 본 논문에서는 테이퍼 마찰말뚝의 자유진동을 평가할 수 있는 해석모델을 제안하였다. 불균질 지반에 설치된 정적 수직하중을 받는 테이퍼 마찰말뚝의 자유진동을 지배하는 미분방정식을 유도하였다. 이 지배방정식을 Runge-Kutta 법을 이용하여 직접 수치적분하였고, 미분방정식의 고유치인 고유진동수는 Regula-Falsi 법을 이용하여 산정하였다. 원통형 말뚝의 고유진동수 계산값은 기존 문헌값과 잘 일치하였다. 수치예를 통해 말뚝의 변단면, 주면마찰력, 단부조건, 수직압축하중 및 지반의 불균질성이 고유진동수와 모드형상에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다.

  • The main purpose of this paper is to present both the natural frequencies and the first critical loads of tapered columns. The ordinary differential equation governing the free vibration for tapered columns under compressive axial force is derived. Three kinds of cross sectional shape are considered in the governing equation. The Runge-Kutta method and determinant search method are used to perform the integration of the differential equation and to determine the natural frequencies, respectively. Additionally, the bisection method is used to determine the critical loads. In numerical examples, the effects of compressive axial force on the natural frequencies of tapered columns are investigated varying the end conditions.   • A bearing is a mechanical component that transmits rotation and supports loads. According to the type of rotating mechanism, bearings are categorized into ball bearings and tapered roller bearings. Tapered roller bearings have higher load-bearing capabilities than ball bearings. They are used in applications where high loads need to be supported, such as wheel bearings for commercial vehicles and trucks, aircraft and high-speed trains, and heavy-duty spindles for heavy machinery. In recent times, the demand for reducing the driving friction torque in automobiles has been increasing owing to the CO2 emission regulations and fuel efficiency requirements. Accordingly, the research on the driving friction torque of bearings has become more essential. Researchers have conducted various studies on the lubrication, friction, and contact in tapered roller bearings. Although researchers have conducted numerous studies on the friction in the lips and on roller misalignment and skew, studies considering the influence of roller shape, specifically roller shape errors including lips, are few. This study investigates the driving friction torque of tapered roller bearings considering roller geometric uncertainties. Initially, the study calculates the driving friction torque of tapered roller bearings when subjected to axial loads and compares it with experimental results. Additionally, it performs Monte Carlo simulations to evaluate the influence of roller geometric uncertainties (i.e., the effects of roller geometric deviations) on the driving friction torque of the bearings. It then analyzes the results of these simulations.

  • The swirl spray for direct-injection spark-ignition (DISI) engines was investigated using a nozzle whose exit surface shape was cut with a certain tapered angle. The reason for the change in spray's characteristics at various tapered angles was explained by the data correlating the taper and flow angles. The spray tended to shift its characteristics from the symmetric to asymmetric when the tapered angle was increased; furthermore, the spray penetration and spray cone angle were also increased. When the tapered angle was greater than the $90^{\circ}$ minus flow angle, an opened hollow cone spray was formed because of the fuel impingement against the tapered surface area of the nozzle exit. This behavior indicates that the reduction in the air pressure difference between the inner and outer spray of the spray can be achieved. This behavior also promises the potential use of the tapered nozzle for the case where the independence of the spray performance from atmospheric pressure and fuel temperature is desired.

  • The main purpose of this paper is to investigate a more accurate behavior analysis of tapered column with initial imperfection. The nonlinear differential equations governing the deflected shapes of the tapered column with initial imperfection are derived by large deflection theory and solved numerically using the Runge-Kutta method and Regula-Falsi method. Three kinds of cross-sectional shape with simply supported end constraint are considered in numerical examples. The load versus displacement curves including the left and right end rotations are presented in figures. The effect of cross-sectional shapes on deflected shape is analyzed, and the deflected shapes of column for several initial imperfections are shown in figure.
