  • Laser photolithography technique is useful for fabricating micro-patterns of silicon wafers. In this work, the laser photolithography micromachining technique is optimized based on Taguchi method. Sensitivity analysis was performed using laser scanning speed and laser power level as the parameters. The results show that for the photoresist used in this work, a laser scan speed of $70{\mu}m/s$ at 50mW laser power gives the best result.

  • In this paper, we propose new methods which is to determine level of noise factor. Even Taguchi give level of noise factor which is best(or maximum) and worst(or minimum) condition, we give level of noise factor which is representative value by observing noise factor frequency. Sometimes level of noise factor is given one, two and three. We know this method is more fit in real fields.

  • Frictional properties of ultra-thin carbon coatings on silicon wafer were investigated based on Taguchi experimental design method. Sensitivity analysis was performed with normal load, relative humidity, deposition process, and coating thickness as the variables. It was found that despite low thickness, the carbon coating resulted in relatively low friction coefficient. Also, the frictional behavior was affected significantly by humidity and normal load.

  • With the progress of industrial technology, industrial machinery and home appliances have multi-function and high performances by the electronic control technology. Various results are given from the measuring switching induction noise according to environmental condition and its effects cannot be predicted accurately. Therefore, the output results should be analyzed and applied to practical work. To minimize the false operation, Taguchi Method used to solve the quality problem is adopted to analyze the characteristics within the constrained measuring level.

  • The Taguchi parameter design in industry is an approach to reducing performance variation of quality characteristic in products and processes. In the Taguchi parameter design, the product array approach using orthogonal arrays is mainly used. It often requires an excessive number of experiments. An alternative approach, which is called the combined array approach, was studied. In these studies, only single response was considered. In this paper we propose how to simultaneously optimize multiresponse for the robust design using the combined array approach.

  • In the proto design stage of a new car, the performances of an occupant protection system can be evaluated by CAE even though the real test should be carried out. The number of the real test is reduced by the exact predictions followed by the appropriate design recommendation. However, the existing researches using CAE in predicting the performances do not consider the uncertainties of parameters. That often leads to inconsistency between test and CAE. In this research, the robust design of a protection system such as airbag and load limiter is suggested considering the frontal crash. The parameter design scheme of the Taguchi method is introduced to obtain the robust design of arbitrary airbag and load limiter. It is performed based on the frontal crash test condition of US-NCAP with an arbitrary passenger car. The variances of the performances such as HIC, chest acceleration and probability of combined injury are calculated by the outer array and the Taylor series expansion. Through the analysis of the Taguchi method, the robust optimum is determined.

  • In the present study, ceramic brake pads without fiber phases were manufactured by the low temperature heat treatment below$ 700 ^{\circ}C$. The manufacturing parameters of ceramic brake pads and those levels were investigated by the analysis results of signal-to-noise ratios, ANOVA based upon the Taguchi method. The ceramic brake pads prepared in the Mg experiment had a friction coefficient of 0.30~0.55 very close to the target coefficient (0.35~0.45) of commercial brake pads utilized in the automobiles. The frictional properties of ceramic brake pads could be stabilized with the adjustment of amounts of lubricating additives. The optimum preparation conditions as well as batch formulations for the fabrication of non-fibrous ceramic brake pads were finally determined using Taguchi method in this study.

  • Robust design in industry is an approach to reducing performance variation of quality characteristic value in products and processes. Taguchi has used the signal-to-noise ratio(SN) to achieve the appropriate set of operating conditions where variability around target is low in the Taguchi parameter design. Taguchi has dealt with having constraints on both the mean and variability of a characteristic (the dual response problem) by combining information on both mean and variability into an SN. Many Statisticians criticize the Taguchi techniques of analysis, particularly those based on the SN. In this paper we propose a substantially simpler optimization procedure for robust design to solve the dual response problems without resorting to SN. Two examples illustrate this procedure. in the two different experimental design(product array, combined array) approaches.
