The influence of treated, extruded, partially expelled soybean meals as undegradable protein and bypass fat sources on lactation performance and ruminal fermentation of dairy cows was studied. Experiment 1: nine cows were used in a replicated 3${\times}$3 Latin square design with each period being 3 wk in duration. Cows were fed 440 g/kg forage and 560 g/kg grain diet with one of three extruded soybean meals fed at 110 g/kg of the diet. The 3 soybean meals were 1) twice-extruded soybean meal (ESM; as a control); 2) lignosulfonate-treated, twice-extruded soybean meal (LSM); and 3) calcium oxide plus lignosulfonate-treated, twice extruded soybean meal (CLSM). Experiment 2: 3 ruminally cannulated cows were used in a 3${\times}$3 Latin square to study the treatment influence on ruminal fermentation characteristics. Feeding treated soybean meal to cows in LSM and CLSM treatments did not improve feed intake, milk yield, or milk composition except that cows fed the LSM and CLSM treatments produced less milk protein compared with the ESM treatment. The proportion of $C_{18:2}$ was greater in milk fat of cows fed CLSM compared with that of cows fed the ESM or LSM treatments. Ruminal pH, ammonia, and total volatile fatty acids were not affected by treatment. An increased proportion of $C_{18:2}$ in milk fat suggests that there is a potential use of calcium salts of fatty acids in protecting the lipid portion of extruded soybean meal and further research is needed to explore this potential with full-fat extruded soybeans not with extruded and partially oil expelled soybeans.
This study was carried out ot investigate effects of X-537A on hydrogen ion concentration insperm washed solution and sperm acrosome reaction. The results obtained were as follows. 1. When bovine sperm was twice washed with SHP solutions of pH 6.8 and 7.4 and again washed with SHP solution containing 4$\mu$M of X-537A, in case of pH 6.8 the sperm washed with 4$\mu$M of X-537A showed signifciantly(p<0.01) higher hydrogen ion concentration in sperm washed solution than the sperm washed without X-537A. 2. When the sperm was twice washed with SHP solution and then washed with SHP solution containing 4$\mu$M of X-537A, sperm acrosome rection rate was signifciantly(p<0.01) increased from 12min after incubation in the sperm washed without X-537A, but was signifciantly(p<0.01) increased from 8 min after incubation in the sperm washed with 4$\mu$M of X-537A. 3. When the sperm was twice washed with SHP solution and then washed with SHP solution containing 0, 4 and 40$\mu$M of X-537A, and then incubated in m-TALP for 120 min, sperm acrosome reaction rate was significantly(p<0.01) increased from 15 min after incubation in 0, 4 and 40$\mu$m OF X-537A. However at 60 min incubation 40$\mu$M of X-537A showed significantly(p<0.01) higher sperm acrosome reaction rate than 0 and 4$\mu$M and at 120 min incubation 4 and 40$\mu$M of X-537A showed signifciantly(p<0.01) higher acrosome reaction rate than 0$\mu$M of X-537A.

The aim of this study was carried out to investigate the protective effect of Rhizoma Dioscoreae on the gastric mucosal lesions induced by alcohol in rats. Experimental groups were treated by oral infusion with Rhizoma Dioscoreae extract at the dose of 0.03465 g/ml(OA-RD1 group), 0.0693 g/ml(OA-RD2 group), and 0.1386 g/ml(OA-RD3 group), while D.W group was administrated with the distilled water and control group did not pretreated. Experimental groups pretreated for 14 days, and given orally 1 ml of 75% alcohol two times(30min interval). The animals were killed 1hr 30min after alcohol treatment, and measured rats body weight, absolute stomach weight, relative stomach weight, SOD activity, glutathione peroxidase(GPx) activity, observed gastric mucosal lesions. The body weight was unremarkable changed. In once as dose intake group's absolute stomach weight was increased and In once as dose intake group, twice as dose intake group's relative stomach weight was increased. SOD activity, glutathione peroxidase activity in twice as dose intake group is remarkably increased. Light microscopy Observations of congestion, hemorrhage, and erosion in gastric mucosal lesions were shown severely in control group than OA-RD1, OA-RD2, OA-RD3. These results suggest that the proposed gastroprotective effect may involve activation of antioxidant effect. And Twice as dose is especially effective.
The ultrasound-guided oocytes cllection (ovum pick-up ; OPU) has become a substitution for superovlation in cattle. The objective of this study was to examine the effect of OPU frequency on the in vitro production of embryos in Hanwoo cattle. Six cycling Hanwoo cows were distributed into two groups for either once or twice weekly OPU sessions. Oocytes were collected by ultrasound-guided follicle aspiration(SA600) using a 6.5HMz transducer and attached with 18 gauge needle, with vacuum pressure of 40 mmHg. The cumulus-oocyte complexes (COCs) collected from each donor were matured in TCM 199 supplemented with 10% fetal bovine serum at 5% CO2 in air at 38.5$^{\circ}C$ for 22h and in vitro matured oocytes were co-incubated with sperm(separated by Percoll gradient) for 6h. The zygotes were co-cultured on cumulus cell monolayer in 10ul droplets in the same culture medium and conditions used for IVM for 7 days. On Day 7 of culture, development to blastocysts was examined. Although the number of oocytes collected was variable depending on individuals, overall embryo production in the twice per week OPU sessions was better that in the once per week sessions(6~21 vs 2~7 blastocysts produced, respectively). Two cows(E, A) were good oocyte donors and embryo production was superior in cow C ; however, cow F was a poor donor as compared to the others. In conclusion, these results suggest that for embryo production, twice weekly OPU sessions were better than once per week for producing embryos in vitro from Hanwoo cattle.
Objectives: The purpose of the study was to investigate the relationship between internet addiction and health in dental hygiene students. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 216 dental hygiene students in Daegu from June 9 to 13, 2014. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, and ANOVA using SAS 9.2 program. The instruments included Korean internet addiction scale(K scale) and Korean version of the general health questionnaire. General characteristics consisted of grade, religion, residential types, economic condition, place of internet use, duration, purpose, and time of use. Physical characteristics consisted of subjective physical condition, smoking, alcohol drinking, exercise above twice per week, musculoskeletal disease, and location of physical symptoms. Psychiatric scale and 6 questions of physical characteristics were consulted by the statistician of preventive medicine department. Results: Internet users over 4 hours manifested the poor mental health, while those who uses internet under 2 hours showed good mental health(F = 1.41, p < 0.01). The students having good physical condition showed better mental health than those with poor physical condition(t = -2.81, p < 0.01). The students exercising at least twice a week showed better mental health than those who do not exercise(t = -3.10, p < 0.01). Those who having musculoskeletal symptoms showed higher index of internet addiction score than those who do not(t = 4.21, p < 0.01). Those who have no musculoskeletal symptoms tended to have better mental health than those who have musculoskeletal symptoms(t = 2.28, p < 0.05). The variables correlated to mental health were internet addiction, subjective physical condition, and exercise at least twice a week. The severity level of internet addiction leads to poor mental health(r = 0.26, p < 0.001). Conclusions: Internet addiction is closely related to mental health. So the students must know the danger of internet addiction. Proper health education is necessary for the prevention of addiction symptoms.

Application of plasma technology on microbial sterilization has been frequently studied. In spite of accumulating number of studies, many have been focused on bacteria. Reports on eukaryotic yeasts and filamentous fungi are limited. In addition, mechanism of plasma effect still needs to be clarified. In this study, we analyzed the effect of non-thermal atmospheric pressure plasma on the budding yeast, Saccharomyces cerevisiae using DBD-type device. When yeast cells were exposed to plasma (at 2 mm distance) and then cultured on YPD-agar plate, number of cells survived (shown as colony) were reduced proportionally to exposure time. More than 50% reduction in number of colonies were observed after twice exposure of 5min. each. Colonies much smaller than those of control (no plasma exposure) were appeared after twice exposure of 5 min. each. It seems that small colonies are resulted from delayed cell growth due to the damage caused by plasma treatment. Microscopic analysis demonstrates that yeast cells treated with plasma for 5 min. twice have more rough and shrinked shape compared to oval shape with smooth surface of control.

Purpose : This study aimed to compare the effects of spinal manipulation combined with medication on low back pain (LBP), range of motion, and disability in patients with chronic LBP. Methods : Twenty patients with chronic LBP were included in this study. The participants were randomly assigned to the spinal manipulation with medication group (n=10) or the medication only group (n=10). The intervention group received spinal manipulation for 15 minutes, twice a week, and took medication twice a day for eight weeks. The control group received the medication twice daily for eight weeks. Pain intensity assessed using the visual analog scale (VAS), range of motion, and disability due to LBP assessed using the Oswestry disability index were measured before and after the intervention. Results : The intervention group showed a significant improvement in pain intensity compared to the control group (p<.05), and the intervention and control groups significantly improved low back pain after the intervention (p<.05). The intervention group showed a significant improvement in the range of motion in flexion, extension, right lateral flexion, left lateral flexion, and right rotation (p<.05). The intervention group also showed a significant improvement in the change of disability in total score, pain intensity, personal care, lifting and standing compared to the control group (p<.05). Conclusion : This study showed that the combination of spinal manipulation and medication can benefit patients with chronic LBP, as evidenced by significant improvements in pain intensity, ROM, and disability. These findings suggest that utilizing both spinal manipulation and medication can positively affect individuals with chronic LBP. The results of this study should be applied in clinical settings to optimize treatment outcomes in patients with chronic LBP.
Purpose: A retrospective study was performed to evaluate the efficiency and feasibility of twice daily radiation therapy plus concurrent chemotherapy for limited-stage small cell lung cancer in terms of treatment response, survival, patterns of failure, and acute toxicities. Materials and Methods: Between February 1993 and October 2002, 76 patients of histologically proven limited-stage small cell lung cancer (LS-SCLC) were treated with twice daily radiation therapy and concurrent chemotherapy. Male was in 84% (64/76), and median age was 57 years (range, 32-75 years). Thoracic radiation therapy consisted of 120 or 150 cGy per fraction, twice a day at least 6 hours apart, 5 days a week. Median total dose was 50.4 Gy (range, 45-51 Gy). Concurrent chemotherapy consisted of CAV ($cytoxan\;1000mg/m^2,\;adriamycin\;40mg/m^2,\;vincristine\;1mg/m^2$) alternating with PE ($cisplatin\;60mg/m^2,\;etoposide\;100mg/m^2$) or PE alone, every 3 weeks. The median cycle of chemotherapy was six (range, 1-9 cycle). Prophylactic cranial irradiation (PCI) was recommended to the patients who achieved a complete response (CR). PCI scheme was 25 Gy/10 fractions. Median follow up was 18 months (range, 1-136 months). Results: Overall response rate was 86%; complete response in 39 (52%) and partial response in 26 (34%) patients. The median overall survival was 23 months. One, two, and three year overall survival rate was 72%, 50% and 30%, respectively. In univariate analysis, the treatment response was revealed as a significant favorable prognostic factor for survival (p<0.001). Grade 3 or worse acute toxicities were leukopenia in 46 (61%), anemia in 5 (6%), thrombocytopenia in 10 (13%), esophagitis in 5 (6%), and pulmonary toxicity in 2 (2%) patients. Of 73 evaluable patients, 40 (55%) patients subsequently had disease progression. The most frequent first site of distant metastasis was brain. Conclusion: Twice daily radiation therapy plus concurrent chemotherapy produced favorable response and survival for LS-SCLC patients with tolerable toxicities. To improve the treatment response, which proved as a significant prognostic factor for survival, there should be further investigations about fractionation scheme, chemotherapy regimens and compatible chemoradiotherapy schedule.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the relation between Asthenopia of near lateral phoria and fusional reserve and also to provide fundamental clinical data. A total of 97 subjects, aged between 17 and 35 years old, who had no strabismus, an eye trouble or whole body disease, were examined nacked visual acuity, corrected visual acuity, corrected diopter, phoria, fusional reserve tests from October of 2005 to July of 2006. We excluded 8 subjects for the following reasons: if they had an amblyopia affecting binocular vision or inaccurate data. After these exclusions, 87 subjects remained. The results were as follow. According to interview results was that in near works, exophoria and esophoria with asthenopia was 59.6%, 64.7%, and 52.6% respectively. The subjects who have exophoria of $0-6{\Delta}$ in the range of normal state was 19.1%. The subjects who have exophoria of $7{\Delta}$ over in the range of abnormal state was 80.9%. The fusional reserve was in inverse proportion to phoria. The fusional reserve was twice over of phoria were 30.3%, and twice under were 69.7%. The asthenopia complain persons were 33.9% with the twice over fusional reserve of phoria. The asthenopia no complain persons were 66.1% with the twice under fusional reserve of phoria. In conclusion, our research has shown conclusively that there is a link between asthenopia of lateral phoria and fusional reserve and we also find that fusional reserve must be examined when we prescribe for a patient who has phoria.
