Research on Resource Allocation Method for a Hybrid WSD Based on Location Probability (위치확률 기반의 하이브리드 WSD 무선자원 할당 방안 연구)

  • portable white space device(WSD) obeying the Korean regulations of TV white space(TVWS) can cause harmful interference to a digital TV receiver residing at the same pixel around the edge of the digital TV service coverage for the case with a changed propagation environment. In order to solve this problem, we propose a method to allocate the resource of a hybrid WSD based on TVWS geo-location DB with spectrum sensing. Using the received power of digital TV signal through the spectrum sensing, a hybrid WSD can calculate the maximum permitted EIRP based on location probability. Based on the accurate allocation method proposed in this paper, it is possible to satisfy the Korean TVWS regulations and to eliminate the harmful interference to TV receivers nearby the hybrid WSD.

  • 최근 Full-HD TV, UHDTV의 보급에 따라 고화질 영상에 대한 수요가 증가하고 있으며 N-Screen 서비스의 확장으로 고화질 영상을 빠르게 전송하는 문제의 중요성은 더욱 커지고 있다. 고화질 영상을 빠르게 전송하기 위해서는 압축 효율의 향상이 필요한데, 일반적으로 영상에 잡음이 많을 때에는 압축 효율이 떨어진다. 본 논문에서는 다양한 원인의 잡음들 중에 film grain noise에 초점을 맞추어 이를 조절하여 영상압축의 효율을 높이는 방법을 연구한다. film grain은 영화촬영 방법 및 환경 등에 따라 강도가 달라지기도 하지만 필름으로 촬영한 모든 영화에서 쉽게 관찰할 수 있으며 앞으로도 계속 포함이 될 것으로 예상되고, 디지털 영화의 경우에도 저조도에서는 이와 비슷한 특성의 잡음이 발생한다. 재안하는 방법에서는 film grain이 포함된 영상에서 grain을 추출/제거한 영상을 압축하며 추출한 film grain에서 작은 영역을 선택하여 sample grain을 만든 후 별도로 압축한다. 디코더에서 grain을 없앤 영상만을 보여줄 수 있지만, 경우에 따라 grain이 없으면 심미적으로 오히려 좋지 않은 결과가 보이기도 한다. 따라서 압축을 푼 후에는 sample grain에서 원본 영상 크기의 grain을 합성한 후 grain을 제거한 영상과 더하여 grain이 포함된 영상을 재 생성한다. 실험한 결과 원본과 유사한 grain이 생성되면서 압축효율이 향상됨을 확인할 수 있다.

In-situ Methane Enrichment System Coupled with External $CO_2$ Stripper in Mesophilic Anaerobic Digestion (중온혐기성소화조에서 외부 $CO_2$ Stripping을 이용한 In-situ 고순도 메탄회수 공정 개발)

  • A simple in-situ methane enrichment system in mesophilic anaerobic digestion was developed to take advantage of the differing solubilities of $CO_2$ and methane. The methane enhancement systems consisted of low solids plug-flow maize digester coupled with a leachate recycle loop to an external $CO_2$ stripper. The effects of leachate recycle rate (LRR) and reactor alkalinity on the resulting offgas $CH_4$ contents, biogas productivity and TVS removal efficiency were quantitively evaluated. The results showed that offgas $CH_4$ contents of over 94% was achieved at 3 volume of leachate recycle per volume of reactor per day (3 v/v-d) and at the reactor alkalinity of 4 g/L as $CaCO_3$, as the optimum operating conditions. The TVS removal efficiency of the methane enhancement system was 79% which corresponds to 94% of the control reactor and the methane productivity appeared to be 0.71 v/v-d. Offgas methane contents correlated well with LRR. However excessively high LRR led to the decrease in TVS removal efficiency.

Posture Recognition for a Bi-directional Participatory TV Program based on Face Color Region and Motion Map (시청자 참여형 양방향 TV 방송을 위한 얼굴색 영역 및 모션맵 기반 포스처 인식)

  • As intuitive hardware interfaces continue to be developed, it has become more important to recognize the posture of the user. An efficient alternative to adding expensive sensors is to implement computer vision systems. This paper proposes a method to recognize a user's postured in a live broadcast bi-directional participatory TV program. The proposed method first estimates the position of the user's hands by generation a facial color map for the user and a motion map. The posture is then recognized by computing the relative position of the face and the hands. This method exhibited 90% accuracy in an experiment to recognize three defined postures during the live broadcast bi-directional participatory TV program, even when the input images contained a complex background.

  • In this research, we propose a field mismatch compensation method for interlaced scan image and a image restoration technique for removing motion blur. In order to compensate field mismatch, the edge classification-based linear interpolation technique and the method using the object-based motion compensation are described. We also propose an edge estimation method and an motion-based image segmentation algorithm. For removing motion blur, we adopt an adaptive iterative image restoration method using the motion-based segmentation result to improve the quality of restored image.

View Synthesis Error Removal for Comfortable 3D Video Systems (편안한 3차원 비디오 시스템을 위한 영상 합성 오류 제거)

  • Recently, the smart applications, such as smart phone and smart TV, become a hot issue in IT consumer markets. In particular, the smart TV provides 3D video services, hence efficient coding methods for 3D video data are required. Three-dimensional (3D) video involves stereoscopic or multi-view images to provide depth experience through 3D display systems. Binocular cues are perceived by rendering proper viewpoint images obtained at slightly different view angles. Since the number of viewpoints of the multi-view video is limited, 3D display devices should generate arbitrary viewpoint images using available adjacent view images. In this paper, after we explain a view synthesis method briefly, we propose a new algorithm to compensate view synthesis errors around object boundaries. We describe a 3D warping technique exploiting the depth map for viewpoint shifting and a hole filling method using multi-view images. Then, we propose an algorithm to remove boundary noises that are generated due to mismatches of object edges in the color and depth images. The proposed method reduces annoying boundary noises near object edges by replacing erroneous textures with alternative textures from the other reference image. Using the proposed method, we can generate perceptually inproved images for 3D video systems.

  • 멀티미디어 데이터에 대한 효율적인 검색을 지원하기 위해 제정된 MPEG7이나 TV-AnyTime 등의 표준들은 XML을 사용하여 Metadata를 효과적으로 표현할 수 방법을 제시하고 있다. 플랫폼에 독립적으로 사용가능하다는 XML의 강점에도 불구하고 Text 방식으로 데이터를 저장하기 때문에 보안에 취약할 수밖에 없으며, 대용량의 자료 처리에도 문제점을 드러낸다. 이를 보완하기 위하여 XML 문서를 RDBMS에 저장하는 방법들이 제안되고 있는데, 기존의 Model Mapping이나 Structure Mapping의 경우 노드 검색을 위해 Traversing을 할 경우 많은 조인이 필요하기 때문에 한정된 메모리와 낮은 처리능력을 갖춘 임베디드 멀티미디어 플랫폼에서는 비효율적일 수밖에 없다. 본 논문에서는 MPEG7 Metadata를 RDBMS에 저장하고, 이를 검색할 때, 조인의 횟수를 최소화할 수 있는 저장 모델을 제안하고 있다. 부모, 자식, 형제간의 노드를 효율적으로 검색할 수 있도록 path MetaSchema를 제안함으로써, 최소 1번의 검색으로 필요한 노드 정보들을 추출할 수 있도록 하였다. 그리고 Annotation 작성시에 XML의 Attribute와 Element로 삽입하였기에, 기존의 방법에서 Annotation을 분석하기 위해 필요했던 Annotation 파싱을 제거하고, SAX나 DOM을 사용할 수 있도록 제안함으로써, Annotation의 정보에 대한 접근이 효율적으로 개선되었다.

  • In the digital information age, image processing is essential for various digital devices such as smart phones, cameras, and TVs. However, degradation occurs in analyzing, recognizing, and processing image data, and salt & pepper noise occurs. Therefore, in this paper, we applied linear interpolation method, newton interpolation method, lagrange interpolation method, and spline interpolation method to the image damaged by salt & pepper noise in order to find more effective interpolation method in salt & pepper noise environment, The methods were compared using the PSNR (peak signal to noise ratio).

  • LCD televisions and monitors use cold cathode fluorescence lamps (CCFLs) to illuminate the screen. Most CCFLs contain mercury and they have to be carefully handled at the end of their lives as per minimum treatment standards under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directives. CCFLs were carefully separated from mold frames of waste LCD units for primary decontamination of mercury/fluorescent compound mixture using CCFL decontamination system designed and fabricated in the present research. Residual mercury was further removed by employing a pyro-process, where crushed CCFL tubes transferred from primary decontamination process were subject to heat treatment at $550^{\circ}C$ in a box furnace: more than 99% of mercury was removable from waste CCFLs.

Consider the directional hole filling method for virtual view point synthesis (가상 시점 영상 합성을 위한 방향성 고려 홀 채움 방법)

  • Recently the depth-image-based rendering (DIBR) method is usually used in 3D image application filed. Virtual view image is created by using a known view with associated depth map to make a virtual view point which did not taken by the camera. But, disocclusion area occur because the virtual view point is created using a depth image based image 3D warping. To remove those kind of disocclusion region, many hole filling methods are proposed until now. Constant color region searching, horizontal interpolation, horizontal extrapolation, and variational inpainting techniques are proposed as a hole filling methods. But when using those hole filling method some problem occurred. The different types of annoying artifacts are appear in texture region hole filling procedure. In this paper to solve those problem, the multi-directional extrapolation method is newly proposed for efficiency of expanded hole filling performance. The proposed method is efficient when performing hole filling which complex texture background region. Consideration of directionality for hole filling method use the hole neighbor texture pixel value when estimate the hole pixel value. We can check the proposed hole filling method can more efficiently fill the hole region which generated by virtual view synthesis result.
