최근 스마트 시대에 디지털 컨버젼스(digital convergence)의 대표기기로 대두되고 있는 태블릿 PC는 휴대전화와 컴퓨터의 기능을 바탕으로 장소의 제한 없이 네트워크에 접속할 수 있다. 이는, 개인의 일상생활에서 큰 영향을 미치고 있는 실정이다. 10년 이상 e러닝이 주도해 온 IT교육시장에서 스마트러닝으로의 변화는 새로운 플랫폼을 구축하는 그 이상의 의미를 가진다. 스마트 러닝은 기존의 수직적인 학습방식을 수평적, 참여적, 지능적, 그리고 상호작용적인 방식으로 전환하여 학습의 효과를 높였다. 이러한 트랜드를 반영하여 스마트러닝의 장점을 극대화 시킬 수 있는 학습자 중심의 컨버젼스 러닝시스템(learning system)을 구현하고자 하였다. 또한, 영어의 중요성이 대두되면서 영어 인증시험에 대한 관심이 날로 커지고 있다. 그리하여 바쁜 일상생활 중에서 시간과 장소에 구애 받지 않고 태블릿 PC를 통하여 영어 인증시험을 공부할 수 있는 어플리케이션을 기획하였다. 본 LEMON(Learn English Mobile ON-air) 앱(application)은 영어 학습 시간이 충분하지 않은 대학생 및 직장인 등을 대상으로 TOEIC, TOEFL, TOEIC SPEAKING 영어 인증시험에 대한 학습이 가능하도록 구현하였다.

This paper explores the ways to reshape humanistic values of the curriculum of the English department of Korean universities. The English curricula are usually composed of three fields of literary studies, general education, and English proficiency, whose conventional humanistic values have been currently dwindling. As for literary studies, teaching literature still hovers over the canonical works of past decades, not allowing students to access the canon with their own ideas and ending up with authoritative monologues. The general education field leans toward edited texts rather than authentic ones, which ignores a genuine path of communication between the author and its readers. Subjects for English proficiency such as "TOEIC" tend to be taught online with no teacher's presence for the nominal purpose of optimizing economic efficiency in teaching. All these testify to the attenuation of humanistic values in the curriculum, which motivates us to suggest some ways to reshape the values. Authoritative monologue in teaching literature can be shifted to the open-ended conversation by using role-play methods as well as accepting extra-canonical works into the curriculum. Authentic texts for general education prove to be preferred by students with the successful result of our experiment. Lastly, it is teacher's presence in the class that helps get higher achievement of "TOEIC" than some online classes. As suggested above, open-ended conversation, wider communication between author and readers, and human presence of the class will help reshape humanistic values in the English curriculum.

In this study, in order to investigate the factors that affect the percentage of correct answers and the degree of discrimination of the TOEIC test, a regression analysis was performed using corpus indicators that influence correct answer rate and the degree of discrimination for each part derived from the item analysis. The basic calculation word_length, consistency index LSA_overlap_adjacent_sentences, lexical diversity MTLD_VOCD, conjunction All_logical_causal_connectives_incidence, situational model casual_particles_causal_verbs_Ratio, syntactic complexity Left_embeddedness, and syntactic pattern density Infinitive_density were found to have negative effects. These factors that lower the correct answer rate can be utilized when setting learning goals. Vocabulary diversity index MTLD_VOCD, conjunction Additive_connectives_incidence, syntactic pattern density Infinitive_density, and lexical information person1_2_pronoun_incidence were found to have a positive effect. Factors influencing the increase in discrimination may provide important information for developing a learning program.

The English language listening environment in Korea nowadays is situated in a quiet and artificial state rather than one of natural exposure. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of convergence for pronunciation and listening activities using English advertisements. A survey sample of 40 students was chosen for this study. These 40 students successfully answered the questionnaire and took a 3 hour English course as an elective. Pre and post surveys tests were done for listening ability and learning interests. For the listening tests, TOEIC L.C. test were used and survey questions about interests made by Sunhee Park were revised to be proper used. The results of this study show a positive impact on TOEIC listening ability and that students are able to listen and naturally pronounce more successfully through convergence using English advertisements with higher learning motivation.

In this paper, we propose a CMS(Career Management System) based on the Android Platform, which is able to manage the result of MBTI, an aptitude test and English skills such as TOEIC, conversation, writing, etc. and to deal with the performance of the on-the-job practice, internship, project participation, graduation exhibition, contest exhibition, etc. during the period of attendance at school, This system is divided into the server module and the client one. First, the server module is used to build up the web site of the CMS that can serve to save the data related to each student's career. Second, the client module is to develop the application based on the Android Platform. This application can easily access the career-related information and always function as maintaining and managing the new data. If we make good use of the CMS proposed in this study, the relevant departments and bureaus in colleges and universities can activate the service capacity and also enhance the employment competitiveness by adding value to the students.

Data mining techniques enable us to generate useful information for decision support from the data sources which are generated and accumulated in the process of routine organizational management activities. College administration system is a typical example that produces a warehouse of student records as each and every student enters a college and undertakes the curricular and extracurricular activities. So far, these data have been utilized to a very limited student service purposes, such as issuance of transcripts, graduation evaluation, GPA calculation, etc. In this paper, we utilize Holland career search test results, TOEIC score, course work list, and GPA score as the input for data mining and generation the student advisory information. Factor analysis, AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process), artificial neural net, and CART(Classification And Regression Tree) techniques are deployed in the data mining process. Since these data mining techniques are very powerful in processing and discovering useful knowledge and information from large scale student databases, we can expect a highly sophisticated student advisory knowledge and services which may not be obtained with the human student advice experts.

The purpose of this paper is to suggest a proposal for the betterment of the English curriculum in the Department of Tourism of a women's college. The paper includes not only the needs analysis of students but also that of personnel officers of tourism related companies and offices. Since the students will have to look for desirable jobs after graduation, the needs and demands of their potential employers or personnel officers are crucial in deciding what and how to teach. Based on these analyses, the paper also examines the current curriculum offered by the department. The needs, wants and necessities of the students, potential personnel officers, and the current curriculum will have to be taken into consideration in designing a more effective future curriculum. The results of the study reveal that more emphasis should be given on the improvement of students' communicative abilities and TOEIC scores.

This paper investigated the relationships among Korean EFL learners' listening anxiety, listening strategy use, and listening proficiency. One hundred and forty four Korean college students who were enrolled in the required practical English classes participated in this study. Questionnaires related to students' listening strategy use and listening anxiety were administered and a TOEIC listening comprehension test was given to measure the students' listening proficiency. The one-way ANOVA was used to analyze the data. The findings of this study are that the students' listening performance is positively correlated with their strategy use and negatively correlated with their anxiety level, and their strategy use is negatively correlated with their anxiety level. The results suggest that successful learning will occur when anxiety is reduced and when the use of strategies is encouraged more often. The pedagogical implications for EFL educators and teachers are described.

This study examines the effect of sense of community on the relationship between learner satisfaction and influencing factors related to the online learning environment. Influencing factors related to the online learning environment are derived from previous literature and classified into two groups : social dimension (leader's enthusiasm, offline activities) and system dimension (usefulness, ease of use, enjoyability). Learner satisfaction is defined as the learners' perceived learning gains from taking an online class. Study participants included 250 university students from two different institutions. The participants were divided into 43 groups and asked to complete an online TOEIC preparation module using a commercial cooperative learning system over 4 weeks. Data were collected at three points for each participant, at the beginning, 3 weeks after, and at the end of the online module. Two system factors related to the online learning environment (ease of use, usefulness) directly influenced learner satisfaction, while social factors indirectly influenced learner satisfaction through the mediating role of sense of community.
