Optimal thresholds criteria for ROC surfaces

  • Consider the ROC surface which is a generalization of the ROC curve for three-class diagnostic problems. In this work, we propose ve criteria for the three-class ROC surface by extending the Youden index, the sum of sensitivity and specificity, the maximum vertical distance, the amended closest-to-(0,1) and the true rate. It may be concluded that these five criteria can be expressed as a function of two Kolmogorov-Smirnov statistics. A paired optimal thresholds could be obtained simultaneously from the ROC surface. It is found that the paired optimal thresholds selected from the ROC surface are equivalent to the two optimal thresholds found from the two ROC curves.

  • This paper has been realized PCB insert machine automation system. For the reduction of the install programming time as well as possible, a new technique is addressed. In detail, an image frame is initially divided into one area whose size decreases according to the distance from hole to hole on PCB. Searching center of hole using a threshold method after median filtering. At every moment of mouse click, area is shifted to locate the hole, and detect a center of hole in a new area. Experimental results are demonstrated to verify the superiority of this scheme in detecting position of part by comparing with a man of experience.

  • Multipactor-free S-band duplexer based on inter-digital cavity type filter is proposed and demonstrated by in-house mulitpactor test facility for satellite RF components. Multipactor sensitivity of designed duplexer is analyzed by checking it out the maximum field accumulated region inside duplexer and calculating the electric field intensities at each resonator using 3D EM simulation in order to restrict the minimum gap distance as 2.5 mm which handles 43.13 dBm RF input power. Multipactor threshold was finally detected at 44 dBm in experiment for pulse mode test. The developed multipactor test method is cost effective, simple structure and gives a good agreement compared with the previous high cost MP test methodologies.

  • Traffic classification seeks to assign packet flows to an appropriate quality of service (QoS) class based on flow statistics without the need to examine packet payloads. Classification proceeds in two steps. Classification rules are first built by analyzing traffic traces, and then the classification rules are evaluated using test data. In this paper, we use self-organizing map and K-means clustering as unsupervised machine learning methods to identify the inherent classes in traffic traces. Three clusters were discovered, corresponding to transactional, bulk data transfer, and interactive applications. The K-nearest neighbor classifier was found to be highly accurate for the traffic data and significantly better compared to a minimum mean distance classifier.

  • This paper presents a real-time algorithm for collision detection, collision avoidance and guidance. Three-dimensional point-mass aircraft models are used. For collision detection, conflict probability is calculated by using the Monte-Carlo Simulation. Time at the closest point of approach(CPA) and distance at CPA are needed to determine the collision probability, being compared to certain threshold values. For collision avoidance, one of possible maneuver options is chosen to minimize the collision probability. For guidance to a designated way-point, proportional navigation guidance law is used. Two scenarios on encounter situation are studied to demonstrate the performance of proposed algorithm.

  • 음성 인식 기능의 성능 향상을 위해서는 처리 속도가 빠르면서도 잡음 환경에서 정확하게 동작하는 음성 끝점 검출이 선행되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 저잡음 환경에서의 음성 끝점 검출을 위한 간단하면서도 빠른 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안된 알고리즘은 LSP 거리를 측정 기준으로 문턱값 논리를 사용하며 입력 음성으로는 EVRC로 보코딩된 패킷을 이용한다. 제안된 알고리즘을 이용한 실험 결과는 디코딩된 음성 파형으로부터 결정한 결과와 비교되었다. 실험 결과에서 제안된 알고리즘은 만족할만한 정확성을 나타내었다.

  • In this paper, we propose an iris recognition system using Homogeneous Texture descriptor of MPEG-7 standard. The texture of iris is generally used in iris recognition system. We segment the pupil with Hough transform and the boundary of iris with it's gray level difference between the white of the eye. To extract Homogeneous Texture descriptor, this iris image is transformed into polar coordinates. The extracted descriptor is then compared with the reference in DB. If their distance is larger than threshold, they are recognized as different iris. Test results will show that Homogeneous Texture descriptor can be a good measure for iris recognition system.

  • 이미지로부터 타원을 추출하기 위하여 Hough transform을 많이 이용하고 있다. 그러나 이 방법은 시간과 기억 공간을 많이 소모한다. 그리고 기존의 타원분리 방법은 잡음에 예민하거나 많은 breakpoint를 발생시키는 단점이 있다. 이 논문에서는 면적을 이용하여 잡음이 있는 디지털 곡선으로부터 타원을 분리 및 추출하는 빠른 방법을 제시한다. 실험 결과로, 제시된 방법이 잡음을 가지고 있는 곡선으로부터 타원 호의 분리 및 추출이 가능하며, 추출된 타원과 주어진 곡선간의 거리오차평균이 일정 임계값 범위 내에 있는 것을 보여준다.

  • The human faces do not have distinct features unlike other general objects. In general the features of eyes, nose and mouth which are first recognized when human being see the face are defined. These features have different characteristics depending on different human face. In this paper, We propose a face recognition algorithm using the hidden Markov model(HMM). In the preprocessing stage, we find edges of a face using the locally adaptive threshold scheme and extract features based on generic knowledge of a face, then construct a database with extracted features. In training stage, we generate HMM parameters for each person by using the forward-backward algorithm. In the recognition stage, we apply probability values calculated by the HMM to input data. Then the input face is recognized by the euclidean distance of face feature vector and the cross-correlation between the input image and the database image. Computer simulation shows that the proposed HMM algorithm gives higher recognition rate compared with conventional face recognition algorithms.

  • In this paper, the illuminator is designed to recognize the shape and the existence of holes of radiation fin in the point that the light reflection characteristics are different according to the roughness of the material. The threshold value, the positions of holes and the black pixel nembers in the positon are obtained under the illuminator, in accordance with the reference image, by applying binary conversion and hole segmentation algorithm, as they are suggested in this paper, The existence and shape of hole are recognized by calculating the distance and feature value in the test image, which is obtained from the parameters of reference image. It is programmed to apply to GUI(Graphic User the Interface) in windows. More than 98% of recognition rate is shown, as it is applied to three different sizes of the radiation fin.
