Lifetime Assessment for Oil-Paper Insulation using Thermal and Electrical Multiple Degradation

  • In this paper, in order to investigate the lifetime of oil-paper insulation, specimens were artificially aged with thermal and electrical multiple stresses. Accelerated ageing factors and equivalent operating years for each aging temperatures were derived from results of tensile strengths for the aged paper specimens. Also, the evaluation for the multi-stress aged specimens were carried out through the measurement of impulse breakdown voltage at high temperature of $85^{\circ}C$. The lifetimes of the oil-paper insulations were calculated with the value of 66.7 for 1.0 mm thickness specimens and 69.7 for 1.25 mm thickness specimens throughout the analysis of impulse BD voltages using equivalent operating years, which means that dielectric strengths would not be severely decreased until the mechanical lifetime limit. Therefore, for the lifetime evaluation of the oil-paper insulation, thermal aging would be considered as a dominant factor whereas electrical degradation would be less effective.

  • This paper describes a method to estimate the thermal lifetime of coil used in the dry-type molded transformer which is widely used in the domestic distribution system. In order to reduce the testing time, temperature accelerated aging test is planned. Finally, the thermal lifetime estimation method is composed of a temperature aging test and a cyclic test of temperature, humidly and lightning impulse voltage withstand test.

  • The thermal impact of mica/epoxy paper(130${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$) is investigated using XRD, DSC and TGL X-ray diffraction(XRD) analysis was performed to know the position and structure of mica crystal in insulation materials. A differential scanning calorimeter(DSC) was used to measure glass transition temperature and excess enthalphy of the composite materials that had been subjected to thermal aging. The glass transition temperature(T$_{g}$) measured by DSC is observed at 95.43$^{\circ}C$ and 113.43$^{\circ}C$, respectively. The T$_{g}$ also increases with increased aging time. Measurements performed by TGA(thermogravimetric analysis) have showed that weight loss profile of sound specimens are lower than those aged.ged.

2.5Y-TZP의 안정성에 관한 연구 (Thermal Stability of 2.5Y-TZP under Low-Temperature Aging)

  • The degradation phenomena and thermal stability of 2.5Y-TZP at low-temperature were studied by means of XRD, Raman spectra and microstructural analysis. The degradation of heat-treated 2.5Y-TZP at 20$0^{\circ}C$-20hr in air was observed on the TZP surface, be caused by the cracks generated from tlongrightarrowm transformation, and the cracks was propagated inside the polycrystalline body. The ZrO2 grain boundaries and grains near the crack were revealed as if these were diffused and dissolved. And it was also observed mlongrightarrowt transformation as the degraded TZP was refired at 140$0^{\circ}C$, and it was thought to be the fact that the moisture in atmosphere during the aging process contributed to the degradation. The thermal stability of 2.5Y-TZP was improved dramatically with an addition of 3w/o CeO2 or a provision of high Y2O3 concentration on the TZP surface.

  • The effects of thermal cycle, aging heat treatment and Boron addition on the phase transformation characteristics and mechanical properties of the shape memory alloys of Cu-Zn-Al system, which was designed to operate about $80^{\circ}C$ by this research group, were studied. From the view point of the effects of thermal cycle on the phase transformation temperature change, it was found that up to 100 cycles Ms and Af points increased by $3-7^{\circ}C$ and Mf decreased a little bit and after that all of them were remain constant, and As point was not affected. All of the phase transformation temperatures were decreased $5-7^{\circ}C$ by aging heat treatment, at $140^{\circ}C$ for 24h however the effects of thermal cycle on aged alloys were same as on unaged alloys. As the thermal cycle increased the shape memory ability decreased a little up to 20 cycles, but above that it kept almost same ability. By Boron addition, grain size was refined from $1500{\mu}m$ to about $330{\mu}m$ and the hardness, fatigue property were improved but shape memory ability was lowered.

가속 열화 후 해수 담수 침지된 Chlorosulfonated Polyethylene의 이온 점도와 압축 강도의 특성 변화 (The Behavior Variation of the Ion Viscosity and the Compressive Strength of the Seawater and Freshwater Flooded Chlorosulfonated Polyethylene After Accelerated Thermally Ageing)

  • This study performs the thermal aging of chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSPE) for 807.36 and 1,614.48 hours at $110^{\circ}C$, which is equivalent to 40 and 80 years of aging at $50^{\circ}C$ in nuclear power plants, respectively. Flat-type CSPEs were soaked in seawater for five days and then dried for five days at room temperature. Furthermore, the soaked CSPEs were cleaned for 5 days with fresh water and dried for 1,100 days at room temperature. Through this process, the log IV of the CSPEs decreases, whereas the dissipation factor of the CSPEs increases as thermally accelerated aged years increase at the measured frequency. Although the phase degree of the response voltage versus excitation voltage of the CSPEs increases, that of the response current versus excitation voltage decreases with the thermally accelerated aging. The thermal conductivity of the CSPEs increases slightly, but the thermal diffusivity does not vary with the thermally accelerated aged year increase. The displacement of the compressive strength of the CSPEs decreases gradually as the thermally accelerated aged years increase.

마그네시아 부분안정화 지르코니아 소결체의 특성에 미치는 열처리 효과 (Effects of Aging on Properties of MgO-Partially Stabilized Zirconia)

  • 9mol% 의 MgO로 $1650^{\circ}C$에서 4시간 고상반응과 동시에 소결시킨 부분안정화 지르코니아 소결체(9MZ-PSZ)를 소성후 냉각중 $1200^{\circ}C$~$1400^{\circ}C$의 온도범위에서 열처리하여 이의 열분해 반응, 열충격기등 및 기전력 특성에 대하여 조사하였다. 열충격시럼 전과 후의 강도, 열팽창률, X-선 회절분석에 의한 단사정사 함률과 상전이, 밀도 및 갈바닉 전위를 측정하였으며 SEm에 의한 미세구조를 관찰하였다. 입체부근의 미소화학분석은 $1350^{\circ}C$ 열처리 시편에 한하여 EDX 로 정량하였다. 9MZ-PSZ 시편의 열처리에 의하여 입방정상의 $ZrO^{2}$는 상기 온도범위에서는 준안정-정방정상의 $ZrO^{2}$와 MgO로 열분해되는데, 이때 생성된 준안정 정방정상은 열충격 시험후의 잔류강도를 응력유기상전이 효과에 의해 증가시킨다. 또한 MgO는 입계에 연속적으로 존재하는데 이런하 MgO의 연속상을 통한 열전도롤 인하여 PSZ의 열충격 저항이 크게 향상된다. 이때 PSZ의 열분해 속도와 단사정상 함량은 열처리 온도가 $1400^{\circ}C$에서 $1200^{\circ}C$로 감소됨에 따라 증가한다. 갈바닉전의 측정결과 이상의 열처리에 의하여도 양호한 기전력 특성을 갖는 지르코니아 고체전해질을 제조할 수 있다.

  • 열적 특성은 에너지 물질 분야에서 중요한 특성 중 하나로, 분해열을 방출하기 때문에, 열적 특성 분석에 DSC(Differential Scanning Calorimetry)가 자주 사용된다. 그러나 DSC 측정의 경우, 용융과 같은 열역학적 변화가 kinetics 분석에 방해를 끼친다. 이번 연구에서는 이 문제점을 해결하는 방안으로, 등온 조건으로 한 DSC 기초 데이터와 g 단위로 측정하는 ARC(Accelerating Rate Calorimetry)의 데이터를 이용하여 AKTS(Advanced Kinetics and Technology Solutions) thermokinetic 프로그램을 이용하여 열적 노화 특성을 예측, 비교한다.

The information system concept for thermal monitoring of a spent nuclear fuel storage container

  • The paper notes that the most common way of handling spent nuclear fuel (SNF) of power reactors is its temporary long-term dry storage. At the same time, the operation of the dry spent fuel storage facilities almost never use the modern capabilities of information systems in safety control and collecting information for the next studies under implementation of aging management programs. The author proposes a structure of an information system that can be implemented in a dry spent fuel storage facility with ventilated storage containers. To control the thermal component of spent fuel storage safety, a database structure has been developed, which contains 5 tables. An algorithm for monitoring the thermal state of spent fuel was created for the proposed information system, which is based on the comparison of measured and forecast values of the safety criterion, in which the level of heating the ventilation air temperature was chosen. Predictive values of the safety criterion are obtained on the basis of previously published studies. The proposed algorithm is an implementation of the information function of the system. The proposed information system can be used for effective thermal monitoring and collecting information for the next studies under the implementation of aging management programs for spent fuel storage equipment, permanent control of spent fuel storage safety, staff training, etc.

전력용 변압기의 열화에 의해 생성된 부산물의 분석 (Analysis of Produced By-products Due to Oil/Paper Degradation on Power Transformers)

  • According to thermal degradation on power transformers, it is known that electrical, mechanical and chemical characteristics for power transformer's oil-paper are changed. In the chemical property, especially, when the kraft paper is aged, the cellulose polymer chains break down into shorter lengths. It causes decrease in both tensile strength and degree of polymerization of paper insulation. Also the paper breakdown is accompanied by an increase in the content of various furanic compounds within the dielectric liquid. It is known that furanic components in transformer oil come only from the decomposition of insulating paper rather than from the oil itself. Therefore the analysis of furanic degradation products provides a complementary technique to dissolved gas analysis for monitoring transformers when we evaluate the aging of insulating paper by the total concentration of carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide dissolved in oil only. Recently, the analysis of furanic compounds by high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC) using IEC 61198 method for estimating degradation of paper insulation in power transformers has been used more conveniently for assessment of oil-paper. It is know that the main products which is produced by aging are 2-furfuryl alcohol, 2-furaldehyde(furfural), 2-furoic acid, 2-acetylfuran, 5-methyl-2-furaldehyde, and 5-hydroxymethyl-2-furaldehyde. For investigating the accelerated aging process of oil-paper samples we manufactured accelerating aging equipment and we estimated variation of insulations at $140^{\circ}C$ temp. during 500 hours. Typical transformer proportions of copper, silicon steel and iron have been added to oil-paper insulation during the aging process. The oil-paper insulation samples have been measured at intervals of 100 hours. Finally we have analyzed that 2-furoic acid and 2-acetylfuran products of furanic compounds were detected by HPLC, and their concentrations were increased with accelerated aging time.
