  • The primary aim of this study is to investigate the influence of Service Provider Quality (SPQ), System Quality (SQ), Information Quality (IQ), and Training Quality (TQ) on the interconnected aspect of organizational performance known as growth and development (GD). The study examined the influence of information systems (IS) on organisational performance and provided a theory-based technique for conducting research. The theoretical foundation for this study is derived from the widely employed [1]. IS success model in information systems research. The study's framework incorporates several novel elements, drawn from a comprehensive review of both recent and earlier literature, which researchers have utilized to evaluate the dimensions of [1]. In this study, we collected data from a diverse group of 348 individuals representing various industries through a web-based questionnaire. The collected data were subjected to analysis using SPSS. We conducted a multiple regression analysis involving 15 factors to assess several hypotheses regarding the relationship between the independent construct IS effectiveness and the dependent construct organizational performance. Several noteworthy descriptive statistics emerged, which hold significance for management. The study's findings strongly indicate that information systems exert a significant and beneficial influence on organizational performance. To sustain and continually enhance organizational effectiveness, the study recommends that managers periodically scrutinize and assess their information systems.

  • This paper compares the annual energy performance of four different types of air-conditioning systems in a medium-sized office building. Chiller and boiler, air-cooled VRF, ground-source VRF, and ground-source heat pump systems were selected as the systems to be compared. Specifically, the energy performance of the GSHP system and the ground-source VRF system were compared with each other and also with conventional HVAC systems including the chiller and boiler system and air-cooled VRF system. In order to evaluate and compare the energy performances of four systems for the office building, EnergyPlus, a whole-building energy simulation program, was used. The EnergyPlus simulation results show that both the GSHP and the ground-source VRF systems not only save more energy than the other two systems but also significantly reduce the electric peak demand. These make the GSHP and the VRF systems more desirable energy-efficient HVAC technologies for the utility companies and their clients. It is necessary to analyze the impact of partial load performance of ground-source heat pump and ground-source VRF on the long-term (more than 20 years) performance of ground heat exchangers and entire systems.

  • Most research results on the throughput of unit-load automated storage retrieval (AS/R) systems assume the randomized storage; that is, all slots In the entire rack are equally likely to be selected for the storage location. However, for the most existing AS/R systems which use Closest Open location storage policy, Park[6] mathematically showed that this assumption results in a significant difference from the actual performance of AS/R systems. In this study, we present more details about the performance of the unit-load AS/R systems by considering the rack utilization and rack density; and examine their impact on the throughput of AS/R systems by using computer simulation. A new storage policy named Shortest Cycle Location(SCL) is proposed. Simulation results indicate that the performance of SCL policy consistently outperforms the Closest Open location storage policy. We also define the "Extra-Cost Zone" compared to the "No-Cost Zone"[3] and explore its geometric and practical meaning.

  • In this paper, we extend ultra-wideband (UWB) single input single output (SISO) systems with a hybrid pulse amplitude and position modulation (PAPM) to single input multiple output (SIMO) systems using receive antenna diversity. The performance of a rake receive diversity combining scheme for UWB SIMO systems with a PAPM is examined in a log-normal multipath fading channel and also compared with that of a time-switched transmit diversity (TSTD) multiple input single output (MISO) system. It is seen that as the number of receive antennas increases, the receive diversity combining system improves the error performance. It is shown that the TSTD UWB MISO systems offer the performance equivalent to the receive diversity combining scheme for SIMO systems.

  • Recently due to the rapid development of speech synthesis based on the corpora, the performance of TTS systems, which convert text into speech through synthesis, has enhanced, and they are applied in various fields. However, the procedure for objective assessment of the performance of systems is not well established in Korea. The establishment of the procedure for objective assessment of the performance of systems is essential for the assessment of development systems for the developers and as the standard for choosing the suitable systems for the users. In this paper we will report on the results of the basic research for the establishment of the systematic standard for the procedure of objective assessment of the performance of Korean TTS systems with reference to the various attempts for this project in Korea and other countries.

  • In this paper, the Hardware-In-The-Loop Simulation(HILS) of missile systems are studied. The HILS is an effective performance evaluation technique that bridges the simulation fidelity gap between analytic all-digital simulations and actual flight tests of missile systems. The HILS may be required to perform system integration tests, performance evaluation at system or subsystem level. Major elements of this HILS facility will include the flight table, simulation computers, I/O computer and peripheral equipments. HILS of missile systems typically involve computer modeling of flight dynamics coupled with a hardware guidance and control(G/C) systems. This paper describes a real time performance evaluation technique of a G/C system, Development of a HILS for a Autopilot of SAM G/C will be used as an example.

  • In this paper, we propose a performance isolation of shared space for virtualized SSD based storage systems, to solve the weakness in a VSSD framework. The proposed scheme adopts a CFQ scheduler and a shared space-based FTL for the fairness and the performance isolation for multiple users on virtualized SSD based storage systems. Using the CFQ scheduler, we ensure SLOs for the storage systems such as a service time, a allocated space, and a IO latency for users on the virtualized storage systems. In addition, to improve a throughput and reduce a computational latency for garbage collection, a shared space-based FTL is adopted to maintain the information of SLOs for users and it manages shared spaces among the users. In our experiments, the proposal improved the throughput of garbage collection by 7.11%, on average, and reduced the computational latency for garbage collection by 9.63% on average, compared to the previous work.

  • Non-functional requirements plays a critical role in designing variety of applications domain ranges from safety-critical systems to simple gaming applications. Performance is one of the crucial non-functional requirement, especially in control and safety systems, that validates the design. System risk can be quantified as a product of probability of system failure and severity of its impact. In this paper, we devise a technique to do the performance analysis of safety critical and control systems and to estimate performance based risk factor. The technique elaborates Petri nets to estimate performability to ensure system dependability requirements. We illustrate the technique on a case study of Nuclear Power Plant system. The technique has been validated on 17 safety critical and control systems of Nuclear Power Plant.
