  • This paper proposes a conceptual taxonomy of architectures for workflow management systems. The systematic classification work is based on a framework for workflow architectures. The framework, consisting of generic-level, conceptual-level and implementation-level architectures, provides common architectural principles for designing a workflow management system. We define the taxonomy by considering the possibilities for centralization or distribution of data, control, and execution. That is, we take into account three criteria. How are the major components of a workflow model and system, like activities, roles, actors, and workcases, concretized in workflow architecture. Which of the components is represented as software modules of the workflow architecture\ulcorner And how are they configured and operating in the architecture\ulcorner The workflow components might be embodied, as active (processes or threads) modules or as passive (data) modules, in the software architecture of a workflow management system. One or combinations of the components might become software modules in the software architecture. Finally, they might be centralized or distributed. The distribution of the components should be broken into three: Vertically, Horizontally and Fully distributed. Through the combination of these aspects, we can conceptually generate about 64 software Architectures for a workflow management system. That is, it should be possible to comprehend and characterize all kinds of software architectures for workflow management systems including the current existing systems as well as future systems. We believe that this taxonomy is a significant contribution because it adds clarity, completeness, and global perspective to workflow architectural discussions. The vocabulary suggested here includes workflow levels and aspects, allowing very different architectures to be discussed, compared, and contrasted. Added clarity is obtained because similar architectures from different vendors that used different terminology and techniques can now be seen to be identical at the higher level. Much of the complexity can be removed by thinking of workflow systems. Therefore, it is used to categorize existing workflow architectures and suggest a plethora of new workflow architectures. Finally, the taxonomy can be used for sorting out gems and stones amongst the architectures possibly generated. Thus, it might be a guideline not only for characterizing the existing workflow management systems, but also for solving the long-term and short-term architectural research issues, such as dynamic changes in workflow, transactional workflow, dynamically evolving workflow, large-scale workflow, etc., that have been proposed in the literature.

  • In this paper, we have proposed hardware and software architecture of a launch control unit for the compatibility between air defense weapon systems loaded on shipboard. Until now, there is no compatibility between weapon systems loaded in battleships of korean navy. In the case of HaeGung system recently completed the test and evaluations, although it will be deployed on several kinds of shipboards, it has no compatibility and flexibility with other air defense weapon systems. Recently it reports that a long range air defense weapon system will be carried on future korean destroyer KDDX. Because the HaeGung and a long range air defense system will be operated together in KDDX, it is necessary to provide the compatibility between two weapon systems. So we have proposed architecture to provide the compatibility of the launch control unit that controls the launching system and the missile interface unit, and the missile in each weapon systems.

  • Climate change has increased the number of floods and inundation on farmland. Recently various mobile applications through inundation mapping, flood forecasts and evacuation routes have been developed for the prevention and reduction of flood damages. However, most of current prevention systems for farmland flooding are still web-based systems relying on the field survey which needs a lot of human and time resources although mobile devices has been rapidly improved and widely used. The purpose of this study is to design a mobile application for preventing and reducing farmland flood and inundation damages and collecting damage information in real time. We put advanced mobile device functions such as GPS, network communications, cameras into our system design. This system implement 2way communication and intuitive application that will increase information efficiency and decrease flood damage. Our design has been tested through previous flooding data of Jinju city in 2010.

  • Unlike the previous approaches, we analyzed for economic efficiency of renewed heating and cooling systems as the characteristics of space. The purpose of this study is to analysis the energy consumption and economical efficiency of absorption chillers and EHP systems in renovated library. It is important that equipment selection should be considering energy cost as well as space program. In recently, many EHP systems were installed in the building for reducing the energy cost and for seeking the convenience of individual control. In contrast, though absorption chillers have the disadvantage of a central control, absorption chillers are appropriate for the conditions of the library that needs simultaneous operation. The results by payback period method, show that selection of heating and cooling systems should be consider for space program and the characteristics of space.

  • This work describes an availability model of highly available systems to achieve Five-9's availability. Modern railway systems have raised users' expectations of powerful "always on" services. The crucial characteristics of these highly available services are essential to many modern businesses area, such as telecommunications, railway systems, information operations, Web-based businesses, and so on. The architecture-based model of system availability is useful to assess the feasibility of meeting a high availability target. The Markov model approach is straightforward for relative system engineers to adapt when they model highly available system failure and the failure recovery process. This work proposed the improved availability model through UML2.0. It is shown that the architecture-based model of system availability is a good reasonable by its application of the railway systems.

  • In shipbuilding, diverse manufacturing techniques for automation have been developed and used in practice. Among them, however, the hull forming automation is the one that has not been of major concern compared with others such as welding and cutting. The basis of the development of this process is to find out how to extract thermal forming information. There exist various methods to obtain such information and the 3D design shape that needs to be formed should be extracted first for getting the necessary thermal forming information. Except well-established shipyards which operate 3D design systems, most of the shipyards only rely on 2.5D design systems and do not have an easy way to obtain 3D surface design data. So in this study, various shipbuilding design systems used by shipyards are investigated and a 3D design surface data extraction method is proposed from those design systems. Then an example is presented to show the extraction of real 3D surface data using the proposed method and computation of thermal forming information using the data.

  • Vehicular Ad-hoc Network (VANET) facilities envision future Intelligent Transporting Systems (ITSs) by providing inter-vehicle communication for metrics such as road surveillance, traffic information, and road condition. In recent years, vehicle manufacturers, researchers and academicians have devoted significant attention to vehicular communication technology because of its highly dynamic connectivity and self-organized, decentralized networking characteristics. However, due to VANET's high mobility, dynamic network topology and low communication coverage, dissemination of large data packets (e.g. multimedia content) is challenging. Clustering enhances network performance by maintaining communication link stability, sharing network resources and efficiently using bandwidth among nodes. This paper proposes a mobility-based, multi-hop clustering algorithm, (MBCA) for multimedia content broadcasting over an IEEE 802.11p-LTE-enabled hybrid VANET architecture. The OMNeT++ network simulator and a SUMO traffic generator are used to simulate a network scenario. The simulation results indicate that the proposed clustering algorithm over a hybrid VANET architecture improves the overall network stability and performance, resulting in an overall 20% increased cluster head duration, 20% increased cluster member duration, lower cluster overhead, 15% improved data packet delivery ratio and lower network delay from the referenced schemes [46], [47] and [50] during multimedia content dissemination over VANET.

  • The paper is to build recommendation systems leveraging Deep Learning and Big Data platform, Spark to predict item ratings of the Amazon e-commerce site. Recommendation system in e-commerce has become extremely popular in recent years and it is very important for both customers and sellers in daily life. It means providing the users with products and services they are interested in. Therecommendation systems need users' previous shopping activities and digital footprints to make best recommendation purpose for next item shopping. We developed the recommendation models in Amazon AWS Cloud services to predict the users' ratings for the items with the massive data set of Amazon customer reviews. We also present Big Data architecture to afford the large scale data set for storing and computation. And, we adopted deep learning for machine learning community as it is known that it has higher accuracy for the massive data set. In the end, a comparative conclusion in terms of the accuracy as well as the performance is illustrated with the Deep Learning architecture with Spark ML and the traditional Big Data architecture, Spark ML alone.

  • AES is frequently used as a symmetric cryptography algorithm for the Internet. Wireless embedded systems increasingly use more conventional wired network protocols. Hence, it is important to have low-cost implementations of AES for thor The basic architecture of AES unrolls oかy one full cipher round which uses 20 S-boxes together with the key scheduler and the algorithm repeatedly executes it. To reduce the implementation cost further, the folded architecture which uses only eight S-box units was studied in the recent years. In this paper, we will study a low-cost AES implementation for wireless communication technology based on the folded architecture. We first improve the folded architecture to avoid the sixteen bytes of additional state memory. Then, we implemented a single byte architecture where only one S-box unit is used for data encryption and key scheduling. It takes 352 clocks to finish a complete encryption. We found that the maximum clock frequency of its FPGA implementation reaches about 40 MHz. It can achieve about 13 Mbps which is enough for 3G wireless communication technology.
