CJ-50001(rG-CSF)에 대한 항원성시험 (Antigenicity of Recombinant Human G-CSF (CJ-50001))

  • Antigenic potential of genetically engineered human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (CJ-50001) was assessed in guinea pigs and mice. In active systemic anaphylaxis (ASA) test, although CJ-50001 at 50 $\mu\textrm{g}$ /head induced anaphylactic responses, CJ-50001 5 $\mu\textrm{g}$ /head alone or 50 $\mu\textrm{g}$ / head with adjuvant did not induce anaphylactic responses. In passive systemic anaphylaxis test (PCA) or passive hemagglutination test (PHA), CJ-50001 did not induce positive responses. It is concluded that, in light of the fact that CJ-50001 was antigenic only in ASA but not in PCA or PHA and also that CJ-50001 is a foreign human recombinant protein to guinea pigs, CJ-50001 may not induce systemic allergic react-ion in its clinical use in human.

Prognostic Significance of the Peripheral Blood Absolute Monocyte Count in Patients with Locally Advanced or Metastatic Hepatocellular Carcinoma Receiving Systemic Chemotherapy

  • Background: The prognostic significance of the circulating absolute monocyte count (AMC) in patients with locally advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is uncertain. This study was designed to assess the association of circulating AMC with survival outcomes in patients diagnosed with locally advanced or metastatic HCC receiving systemic chemotherapy. Materials and Methods: Between January 1, 2005 and December 30, 2012, locally advanced or metastatic HCC patients who had Child-Pugh stage A or B disease and received systemic chemotherapy were retrospectively enrolled. Patient features including gender, age, extrahepatic metastasis, Child-Pugh stage, serum alpha-fetoprotein(AFP) level and AMC were collected to investigate their prognostic impact on overall survival(OS). Results: A total of 216 patients were eligible for the study. The optimal cut-off value of AMC for OS analysis was $0.38{\times}10^9/L$. Median OS was 5.84 months in low-AMC group (95% confidence interval [CI], 5.23 to 6.45), and 5.21 months in high-AMC group (95% CI, 4.37 to 6.04; p=0.003). In COX multivariate analysis, elevated AMC remained as an independent prognostic factor for worse OS (HR, 1.578; 95% CI, 1.120 to 2.223, p=0.009). Conclusions: Our results indiicate that circulating AMC is confirmed to be an independent prognostic factor for OS in patients with locally advanced or metastatic HCC receiving systemic chemotherapy.

Inhibitory effect of Taemyeongcheong on allergic reactions

  • Taemyeongcheong (TMC) is Korean traditional extracted drink with various health ingredients. TMC has been used to treat hepatic damage, obesity, gastritis, and colitis. However, the role of TMC on allergic reaction has not been studied yet. In this study, we investigated the anti-allergic effects of TMC against a compound 48/80-induced systemic anaphylactic reaction and IgE-mediated passive cutaneous anaphylaxis (PCA). TMC significantly inhibited the compound 48/80-induced systemic anaphylactic reaction and IgE-mediated PCA reaction. Furthermore, TMC reduced the levels of interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-4, IL-13, and vascular endothelial growth factor in the serum of mice under PCA reaction. Taken together, these results suggest that TMC can play a useful role as an anti-allergic agent.

종과 비오톱 보전을 위한 가치평가 모형 개발 및 적용 (Development and Application of an Evaluation Model for Biotope Appraisal in terms of Species and Biotope Preservation)

  • This research This research aims at developing systemic evaluation model in terms of biotope preservation through reports, literatures, and expert survey analysis by implementing biotope structure analysis in area level with selecting Hyunpoong and Yuga-myeon, Dalseong county, Daegu metropolitan city as a site. First of all, as a result of biotope type classification of research site, biotope type groups are classified into total 13, and its biotope types are divided into total 61. Also, as a result of literature analysis, total 18 items are drawn such as diversity of biotope typical species as a index item to assess the preservation value of biotope, and the first evaluation index are divided into 10 and the second ones are divided into 8 according to characteristic of index items. As a result of expert survey analysis, All 10 index items, first evaluation index, show high importance average (above 4.7). As a result of implementation of main cause for categorizing evaluation index by characteristic, there are 3 factors such as 'obstructive factor.' Based on above survey analysis result, as a result of estimating the weight of each item, 'restoration factor' showed the highest, 3.4541, but 'factor of habitat stability' showed 3.1468, which is the lowest The systemic value evaluation was set by comprehensively analyzing these results. As a result of biotope preservation value evaluation through applying research site, total 19 types which are abundant in vegetation are classified into I class, 12 types in II class, 5 types in III class, 10 types in IV class, and 15 types in V class respectively. Lastly, as a result of second evaluation, it is analyzed that there are 17 special meaningful space to preserve species and biotope(1a, 1b) and 61 meaningful space to preserve species (2a, 2b, 2c).

Predictive Factors for Neutropenia after Docetaxel-Based Systemic Chemotherapy in Korean Patients with Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer

  • The aim of this study was to determine predictive factors for neutropenia after docetaxel-based systemic chemotherapy in patients with castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC). The study included 40 Korean CRPC patients who were treated with several cycles of docetaxel plus prednisolone from May 2005 to May 2012. Patients were evaluated for neutropenia risk factors and for the incidence of neutropenia. In this study, nine out of forty patients (22.5%) developed neutropenia during the first cycle of docetaxel-based systemic chemotherapy. Four experienced grade 2, three grade 3, and one grade 4 neutropenia. Multivariate analysis showed that pretreatment white blood cell (WBC) count (p=0.042), pretreatment neutrophil count (p=0.015), pretreatment serum creatinine level (p=0.027), and pretreatment serum albumin level (p=0.017) were significant predictive factors for neutropenia. In conclusion, pretreatment WBC counts, neutrophil counts, serum creatinine levels, and serum albumin levels proved to be significant independent risk factors for the development of neutropenia induced by docetaxel-based systemic chemotherapy in patients with CRPC.

Rubus croceacanthus Leveille inhibits mast cell-mediated immediate-type allergic reactions and tumor necrosis factor-$\alpha$ secretion

  • We studied the effect of Rubus croceacanthus Leveille (RCL) on mast cell-mediated anaphylactic reactions. RCL inhibited compound 48/80-induced systemic anaphylactic shock. When RCL was given at concentrations ranging from 0.01 to 1 mg/$m\ell$, the histamine release from rat peritoneal mast cells induced by compound 48/80 was reduced in a dose-dependent manner. RCL also inhibited passive cutaneous anaphylaxis activated by anti-dinitrophenyl IgE. In addition, RCL inhibited phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate and A23187-induced tumor necrosis factor-${\alpha}$ secretion from human mast cell line HMC-1 cells. These results indicate that RCL may possess a strong anti-anaphylactic activity.

우리나라 노인의 우울과 주관적 구강건강 관련성: 국민건강영양조사 제6기 2차(2014년) 자료 이용 (Association between depression and poor oral health in Korean elderly: the six Korean national health and nutrition examination survey (KNHANES VI-2))

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the association between depression and poor oral health in Korean elderly using Korean version of the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) for assessment of depressive symptoms. Methods: This study used the data from Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES VI-2). The study included 1,454 elderly Korean aged over 65. Variables included demographic characteristics (gender, age), socioeconomic factor (income, education), systemic diseases, oral health related factor (tooth brush, dental products), health related factor (alcohol drinking, smoking), and depression. Logistic regression analysis was used as sequential models. Effects were quantified as odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI). Results: From frequency analysis, being female, primary school or less, non-alcohol drinking, poor oral health were significantly related to depression. In the multiple logistic regression model, depression was significantly associated with poor oral health (OR=1.96, CI=1.15-3.53) after adjustment for other covariates including demographic characteristics, socioeconomic factor, systemic diseases, oral health related factor, and health related factor (OR=1.91, CI=1.13-3.27). Conclusions: Depression had an influence on the poor oral health after adjustment as confounding variable in the elderly. It should be focused on the health promotion for the elderly vulnerable to depression and poor oral health. The development of the mental health and oral health should be established.

치과 임플란트와 전신질환과의 연관성에 관한 임상적 고찰 (A Clinical Study on the Relationship between Dental Implant and Systemic Disease)

  • 연구배경: 전신질환을 보유한 대상자를 위한 임상치과위생사 주도의 치위생관리과정에서의 중요성을 강조하고자 임상적 자료를 근거로 치과 임플란트에 영향을 미치고 있는 전신질환을 파악하고자 하였다. 연구방법: 치과 임플란트에 영향을 미치는 전신질환을 파악하고자 2023년 3월 1일부터 5월 31일까지 문헌고찰을 실시하였으며, 검색 시기는 2000년 1월~2020년 12월까지 국내·외 학술지에 게재된 연구 논문을 대상으로 하였다. 검색에 활용된 국내 database는 학술정보서비스(RISS), 누리미디어(DBpia), 한국학술정보(http://www.papersearch.net;KISS)를 활용하였으며, 국외 database는 Pubmed에서 '치과 임플란트 실패'와 '임플란트와 전신질환' 그리고 Dental implant failures와 Dental implant and systemic disease를 검색하여 전체 383편 중 최종적으로 13편의 자료를 선별하여 분석하였다. 결과: 임플란트의 누적생존률은 평균 94.3%이었으며 실패율은 5.7%이었다. 임상적으로 임플란트와 관련된 전신 질환에 대한 분석결과는 당뇨에 대한 연구가 13편(100.0%)으로 가장 높은 빈도를 차지하였으며 고혈압과 흡연에 대한 연구가 각각 8편(61.5%), 심혈관질환 7편(53.8%), 골관련 질환은 5편(38.5%) 순으로 위험요인이 조사되었다. 그 외 간질환 및 갑상선 이상 그리고 혈액이상 질환과 장기이식 및 감염성 질환 등이 확인되었다. 결론: 임상 치과위생사는 조절되지 않는 전신질환은 임플란트 실패의 위험요인이므로 전신질환이 임플란트에 미치는 영향에 대한 인식과 치위생 사정-판단-수행-평가 등의 주기적인 예방적 치위생관리 과정에서 환자와의 정보공유로 지속적으로 건강한 구강상태를 유지하도록 하여야 할 것이다.
