  • This study was to understand perception level and education need on hospice, and to development effective education contents of hospice for medical students. Descriptive survey research design was used. Participants were 426 and the data collecting period was from July. 22. to July. 29. in 2008. The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, chi-square test, Wilcoxon's signed rank test. The participants experiencing in hospice education program demonstrated higher perception level and education need about hospice than non-participants. Also, The participants experiencing in hospice education showed more concerning on effective education contents of hospice than non-participants. Therefore, hospice education program must be prepared in a continual and systematic way in order to provide for effective education of medical students in Korea.

  • Purpose: In this study, we suggest the systematic and comprehensive model to develop PI(Performance Indicators) of the organization or the process. Methods: The model is developed theoretically by using SIPOC(Supplier, Input, Process, Output, Customer) approach which is a tool to analyze the process and is compared with existing models to develop PI or KPI(key performance indicators); financial indicators, BSC, IPOO(input, process, output, outcome), traditional QCD (quality, cost, delivery), and IOS(input, output system). Results: The model provides more systematic method to develop PI and more comprehensive set of PI pools for all kinds of hierarchical levels of process than any other models to develop PI or KPI. Conclusion: This model will provide useful tools for the managers and the organizations who wish to develop PI.

  • Recently, the green business/IT-related issues such as $CO_2$ emission and energy consumption have become spread out rapidly through the world. EU, the United States, Japan and other developed countries are using IT-related environmental regulations as trade barriers. Korea which has high rate of IT exports needs to establish systematic strategies to respond to these environmental regulations. However, it is not easy to find the related research about making green business/IT strategies. This research aims to deduce the green business/IT strategy framework and the suitable green business/IT strategies for the Korean situation. The green business/IT strategy framework is constructed from the analysis of preceding researches and those of the green business/IT strategies of Japan, the United States, and EU. The Korean green business/IT strategies are deduced from survey of experts using Delphi method. We expect that the results contribute to establish the systematic policy and action plan to reduce $CO_2$ emission and energy consumption of IT industry.

  • There are many quality control(QC) tools useful for solving quality problems. In this paper, QC 7 tools, new QC 7 tools, and other quality tools are first compared with respect to their frequency of use. We suggest an integrated problem-solving procedure to systematically deal with various quality problems. For each step a streamlined flow chart is presented to help the practitioners to adopt relevant tools depending on certain situations they face. The procedure will help quality practitioners solve field quality problems.

  • The systematic information management of chemical accidents has been required as a tool for the policy making, system improvement and release of information concerning accident prevention. However, there is not yet a systematic chemical accidents tracking system in Korea, which make confusion among the related government agencies and the parties to accidents that the related statistics are different from each others. In this study, We developed the Chemical Accident Tracking System (CATS) using chemical accident classification which was made up of 12 upper classes, 70 middle classes, 272 lower classes. The CATS is mainly consist list up module, reporting module, searching and statistic module, etc. The CATS is expected to be applied to the information tracking and database system for chemical accidents and improve its manageability.

  • Construction delays occur frequently in outrigger framework of tall buildings due to the unexpected conditions and lack of experience. However, delay factors of the outrigger framework has not been managed efficiently. Therefore, the systematic management is needed by perceiving possible delay factors before constructing management system. In this study, the major delay factors of outrigger framework are conducted to derive by using the Importance Performance Analysis(IPA). It is expected that the results of this study are utilized for planning of systematic scheduling in outrigger framework of tall building.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the characteristics of the pre-design of brownfield's by comparing LDA, EPA, and BRA of UK and USA in terms of establish mainbody, brownfield information, development process, opening development information. Such analysis will generate important implications for the development and renewal of brownfield in Korea by gaining insights into the characteristics of brownfield that reflect systematic and effective management and planning for urban renewal. The findings from this study indicate that: 1. Information on brownfield plays an important role at the development and planning stages that precede architectural design. 2. There is a great need for organizations that are responsible for brownfield renewal, such as LDA of UK, EPA and BRA of USA, in Korea, to make information public and to practice systematic management. 3. Discussion on the pre-design that follows contamination and renewal of brownfield and the developmental strategies that satisfy both the developmental and public profits are warranted.

  • As the functional and nonfunctional requirements of defence systems become more complex and precise, concerning about the systematic development of software embedded into the defence systems has become surged up. In order to develop more reliable and correct software, and to extend the life cycle of the developing software, adoption of some engineering technologies such as development process, methodology, CASE tools and documentation is essentially required. This paper introduce an approach to technical information management in embedded software development process, with an instance, airborne ECM system development project. Particularly, we suggest and explain how to guide the software development according to process and methodology, and how to generate technical documents using CASE tool.

  • The purpose of this study is to introduce a modified CPS(Creativity Problem Solving) procedure as a new method for comparative analysis of creative techniques such as SIT(Systematic Inventive Thinking) and Brainstorming(BS) techniques. For this, a new sports game is employed as a case study. The results show that the ideas from SIT are more creative in terms of originality and practicality than those of BS. Several considerations for effective practical use of the proposed method are discussed in this study.

  • Aging populations and the increasing mental health issues among them have set a new challenge for the international community, governments, and people. Given this, society's role is very important, and involving the local community in resolving the problems can play a pivotal role. The current study presented the systematic review of the financing mechanism and cost-effectiveness of the "social prescribing" (SP) project in the United Kingdom and how SP can be adapted for other settings. The data showed comparatively low running costs and the overall effectiveness of SP projects. The running cost of SP projects varied between £54,525 and £1.1 million. The cost-effectiveness of the projects reported as 12% and the return of investment was about 50% depending on the type of analysis and the activities implemented. This type of intervention can be one of the options that support solving the issues of aging populations and their accompanying mental disorders.
