  • The objective of this research is to find out status and consciousness about shrouds according to changes of Jeju's rural funeral ritual while reviewing Jeju's traditional shrouds. Consciousness of customs regarding tradition is much stronger in Jeju Island. Since it was said that shrouds and changes of funeral ritual have very systematic correlation according to the result of precedent researches, changes of funeral rituals of Jeju's rural area were examined. At the same time, consciousness about traditional shrouds of Jeju people was also studied. As the result of examination through literary investigation, visits to rural homes, visits to production places of Jeju's shrouds and interviews with grandmothers designated as human cultural assets of traditional Jeju shrouds, etc, it was found out that Jeju's rural funeral rituals had been rapidly changed since 2000. Traditional Jeju shrouds are also disappearing. In particular, old women of Jeju have considered preparation of their own and their husbands' shrouds in advance as a virtue. However, as it gradually became more difficult to produce and prepare traditional shrouds at homes and as the space of funeral was changed from their own houses to hospitals and/or commercial funeral homes, it was found out that a ratio of people's using general shrouds sold in market was increased and it is believed that this kind of trend will be accelerated more and more in the future.

  • Pressure tubes made of Zr-2.5 wt% Nb alloy are important components consisting reactor coolant pressure boundary of a pressurized heavy water reactor, in which unanticipated through-wall cracks and rupture may occur due to a delayed hydride cracking (DHC). The Canadian Standards Association has provided deterministic and probabilistic structural integrity evaluation procedures to protect pressure tubes against DHC. However, intuitive understanding and subsequent assessment of flaw behaviors are still insufficient due to complex degradation mechanisms and diverse influential parameters of DHC compared with those of stress corrosion cracking and fatigue crack growth phenomena. In the present study, a deterministic flaw assessment program was developed and applied for systematic integrity assessment of the pressure tubes. Based on the examination results dealing with effects of flaw shapes, pressure tube dimensional changes, hydrogen concentrations of pressure tubes and plant operation scenarios, a simple and rough method for effective cooldown operation was proposed to minimize DHC risks. The developed deterministic assessment program for pressure tubes can be used to derive further technical bases for probabilistic damage frequency assessment.

  • The ideal housing in the 21st century means that it can provide people with the balanced life between nature and human life, while is possible through the systematic harmony of nature, environment, and human. As our society increasingly pays attention to the importance of environment, environment friendly houses and ecological dwellings are being built. If we add our own cultural environment attribute and historical identity to the ecological housing, we can create the most unique Korean ecological architecture. This study examines ecological interior expression methods from the traditional housing architecture which started out of nature, in order to find out an ecological approach in the interior design of the dwelling space. Based upon this examination, it mainly focuses on how these methods can be applied to a modern housing architecture. From an ecological perspective, the traditional house interior has two distinct characteristics; nature friendly and human friendly, because it considered nature and human harmoniously. The interior of the traditional housing can be divided into three types; nature friendly, health friendly, and human friendly. Finally, this study investigates the ecological value of the three types and application of them to modern housing. It will help to find out the harmonious way of building a house harmonizing both nature and human. Especially, considering that the nature is being destructed and the health of human is deteriorating due to the destruction of the nature, this study will show a feasible alternative to build the most Korean style of environmental architecture.

  • As the quality of life Increases, most people are much interested in their health. The latest knowledge and concepts are newly employed and consistently extended in the field of medical facilities as well. The purpose of this study is to investigate space-structural features of dental clinics, to analyze space components in two aspects, the function and the moving path, to provide with base materials for interior design research, and, as a result, to contribute to the improvement of dental clinics. The visitor survey method was implemented in five dental offices haying opened since 2000. The survey results show that each area is distributed as follows; the consultation room is the largest, the waiting space is secondly largest, and the facility area of medical assistance and administration is the smallest. The consultation space can be designed as semi-opened or opened. Considering moving paths, each should not be too long for the communication between doctors and patients, and for the effective medical examination and treatment. The survey indicates medical assistants have the longest moving path because they fully utilize every space. Based on the survey results described above, more systematic in-depth studies should be performed in the future.

  • A review study was conducted to examine the adverse effects of styrene, styrene mixtures, or styrene and/or styrene mixtures and noise on the auditory system in humans employed in occupational settings. The search included peer-reviewed articles published in English language involving human volunteers spanning a 25-year period (1990-2015). Studies included peer review journals, caseecontrol studies, and case reports. Animal studies were excluded. An initial search identified 40 studies. After screening for inclusion, 13 studies were retrieved for full journal detail examination and review. As a whole, the results range from no to mild associations between styrene exposure and auditory dysfunction, noting relatively small sample sizes. However, four studies investigating styrene with other organic solvent mixtures and noise suggested combined exposures to both styrene organic solvent mixtures may be more ototoxic than exposure to noise alone. There is little literature examining the effect of styrene on auditory functioning in humans. Nonetheless, findings suggest public health professionals and policy makers should be made aware of the future research needs pertaining to hearing impairment and ototoxicity from styrene. It is recommended that chronic styrene-exposed individuals be routinely evaluated with a comprehensive audiological test battery to detect early signs of auditory dysfunction.

  • Software organisations follow different methodologies for the development of software. The software development methodologies are mainly divided into two categories, including plan-driven and agile development. To attain project success, it is very significant to consider risk management during whole project. Agile development is considered risk-driven, but many risks are unreported at the industrial level. The risks can be divided into three categories, including (i) development risks, (ii) organisations risks, and (iii) people-oriented risks. This paper deals with Development risks specifically. Several risks related to development are faced by people working in the industry while dealing with agile development. Their management among the industry is a big issue, so this paper emphasises ARMF based on development-related risks by following agile development. This research work will help software organisations to prevent different project-related risks during agile development. The risks are elicited at two-level, (i) literature-based and (ii) IT industry based. A systematic literature review was performed for eliciting the agile risks from the literature. Detailed case studies and survey research methods were applied for eliciting risks from IT industry. Finally, we merged the agile development risks from literature with standard industrial risks. Hence, we established an agile risk mitigation framework ARMF based on agile development and present a groundwork established in light of empirical examination for extending it in future research.
