In this paper, one simple technique to calibrate the system setting of the three-dimensional measuring system is presented. Due to this technique, the three-dimensional shape of the huge structures and the buildings can be readily obtained. This technique is applied to the three-dimensional landscape simulation. Two examples are shown in this paper.
The purpose of this paper is to present the environment change of Cheju Island as land development process using GSIS(Geo-Spatial Information System) technique. We implemented the process based on the maps of soil color, underground water pollution points, land use, land development planning and land sight seeing supported by Cheju Province Office. To use the maps for GSIS data, first we transformed the picture data of the office into raster structured picture data using scanner. Second, the coordinate system was added to raster data using 1/50000 geographic map. Third, we estimated land planning process using GSIS technique(overlay and reclass technique). The results showed that land development effected the natural environment(forest, green field, farm land). However, the chemical pollution and land sight seeing was not so much effected by the land development that was found.
This paper presents the method to provide a fast service for user in image manipulation such as zooming and panning of huge size high resolution satellite image (e.g. Giga bytes per scene). The proposed technique is based on the hierarchical structure that has 3D-Tiling in horizontal and vertical direction to provide the image service more effectively than 2D-Tiling technique in the past does. The essence of the proposed technique is to create tiles that have optimum level of horizontal as well as vertical direction on the basis of current displaying area which changes as user manipulates huge image. So this technique provides seamless service, and will be very powerful and useful for manipulation of images of huge size without data conversion.
This paper presents a decentralized controller design for formation flying of multiple satellites based on the overlapping decomposition technique. Each satellite is assumed to avail only the information of its own and in front of itself, which restricts the structure of a controller gain matrix to an overlapped form. The concerned large-scale system is expanded using the overlapping decomposition technique. Design condition is represented in terms of linear matrix inequalities with small-scale systems in a decentralized form, based on the expanded system. The resulting controller is contracted to the original overlapped form so as to close the original system. A numerical simulation shows the effectiveness of the proposed technique.

This paper presents a prestress-loss monitoring technique for prestressed concrete (PSC) girder structures that uses a vibration-based system identification method. First, the theoretical backgrounds of the prestress-loss monitoring technique and the system identification technique are presented. Second, vibration tests are performed on a lab-scaled PSC girder for which the modal parameter was measured for several prestress-force cases. A numerical modal analysis is performed by using an initial finite element (FE) model from the geometric, material, and boundary conditions of the lab-scaled PSC girder. Third, a vibration-based system identification is performed to update the FE model by identifying structural parameters since the natural frequency of the FE model became identical to the experimental results. Finally, the feasibility of the prestress-loss monitoring technique is evaluated for the PSC girder model by using the experimentally measured natural frequency and numerically identified natural frequency for several prestress-force cases.
In this paper, we have proposed a design for security network system passing through the non-security network which is commonly used for various networking services. Based on the security requirements which are assumed that the large classified data are bi-transmitted between a server and several terminals remotely located, some application methods of security techniques are suggested such as the network separation technique, the scale-down application technique of certification management system based on the PKI(Public Key Infrastructure), the double encryption application using the crypto-equipment and the asymmetric keys encryption algorithm, unrecoverable data deleting technique and system access control using USB device. It is expected that the application of this design technique for the security network causes to increase the efficiency of the existing network facilities and reduce the cost for developing and maintaining of new and traditional network security systems.
This study presents an ultrasonic location awareness system for the ubiquitous computing with absolute position. The flight time of ultrasonic waves is determined by a period detecting technique which is able to extend the sensing range compared with traditional methods. For location awareness, ultrasonic waves are sent successively from each ultrasonic transmitter and synchronized by radio frequency (RF) signal, where the transmitting part is fixed and the receiving part is movable. To expand the recognizing range, cell matching technique and coded ultrasonic technique are introduced. The experimentation for various distances is accomplished to verify the used period detecting technique of U-SAT system. The positioning accuracy by using cell matching is also verified by finding the locations of settled points and the usability of coded ultrasonic technique is verified. As a result, the possibility of ultrasonic location awareness system for the ubiquitous computing can be discussed as a pseudo-satellite system with low cost, a high update rate, and relatively high precision, in the places where CPS is not available.

This paper describes a novel automated analysis system for bellows of piping system. An automatic finite element (FE) mesh generation technique, which is based on the fuzzy theory and computational geometry technique, is incorporated into the system, together with one of commercial FE analysis codes and one of commercial solid modelers. In this system, a geometric model, i.e. an analysis model, is first defined using a commercial solid modelers for 3-D shell structures. Node is generated if its distance from existing node points is similar to the node spacing function at the point. The node spacing function is well controlled by the fuzzy knowledge processing. The Delaunay triangulation technique is introduced as a basic tool for element generation. The triangular elements are converted to quadrilateral elements. Practical performances of the present system are demonstrated through several analysis for bellows of piping system.
