  • This study was conducted as a general qualitative study method to explore the family resilience process in family of children with ADHD. To do this, I interviewed 12 mothers of children diagnosed with ADHD. In the results of the analysis, first, Participants were adapting through human resources systems such as homeroom teachers, academy teachers, and child support agencies. Second, Participants perceived a change in positive perspective and a child's growth through family support. Suggestions for the results are as follows. first, the establishment of a cooperative support system with homeroom teachers as a strengthening of the support system for parents with school-age ADHD children. Second, It is necessary to develop and apply programs to increase family resilience. Third, It should support the creation of self-help groups to expand the human resources system. This study is meaningful in that it identifies the process of family resilience and suggests alternatives.

  • Current codes design the buildings based on life safety criteria. In a performance-based design (PBD) approach, decisions are made based on demands, such as target displacement and performance of structure in use. This type of design prevents loss of life but does not limit damages or maintain functionality. As a newly developed method, resilience-based design (RBD) aims to maintain functionality of buildings and provide liveable conditions after strong ground movement. In this paper, the seismic performance of plain and strengthened RC frames (an eight-story and two low-rise) is evaluated. In order to evaluate earthquake performance of the frames, the performance points of the frames are calculated by the capacity spectrum method (CSM) of ATC-40. This method estimates earthquake-induced deformation of an inelastic system using a reduced response spectrum. Finally, the seismic performances of the frames are evaluated and the results are compared with a resilience-based design criterion.

  • Two types of responses to climate change exist. First is climate mitigation which includes efforts of reducing CO2 and GHG emissions. Second response is climate adaptation process which is establishing climate resilience in the supply chain. The two are inherently different since mitigation strategy focus on eliminating the source of climate change and is long term in nature but adaptation strategy is moderating the impact of potential or current climate change. In order to embed climate resilience in the supply chain, mitigation strategies and adaption strategies must be implemented simultaneously. Corporation's adaptation to climate change related natural disaster can be seen as a response that includes mitigation and adaptation strategies simultaneously. A comprehensive climate change resilience supply chain approach has to be developed. This paper illustrated guidelines and adaptation process framework businesses can utilize in order to build climate resilience. Screening process before the actual assessment of risk was introduced as well as the whole adaptation process of establishing information system and strengthening climate-related operational flexibility.

  • Terrestrial DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) system is the standard that offers multimedia broadcasting services at mobile environment and is based on Eureka-147 DAB(Digital Audio Broadcasting) for transmission method. Also DMB provides the error protection method of convolution coding. In this paper, we study on the effective error resilience coding of MPEG-4 video stream over DMB system. To accomplish error resilience, we first partition one data into several data using the data partitioning, and we control the coding rate of the convolution coding according to the importance of the partitioned data. In this algorithm, we suggest and analyze the efficient rate control algorithm considering convolution code rate.

  • In the case of terrestrial DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) system that offers mobile multimedia broadcasting services, transmission error must be considered. Although DMB transmission system provides the error protection functions of convolution coding and Reed-Solomon (204,188,t=8) coding, additional error resilience video coding methods are needed to satisfy the requirement of BER lower than $10^{-8}$. In this thesis, we propose and evaluate effective error resilience coding schemes using the MPEG-4 redundant slice for MPEG-4 video services in the DMB environment. In this scheme, we analyze the drift error caused by transmission error based on the random noise concept and the redundant slice selection algorithm that selects the most influential slice in the view of the drift error increment.

  • Most engineered systems are designed with high levels of system redundancies to satisfy required reliability requirements under adverse events, resulting in high systems' LCCs (Life-Cycle Costs). Recent years have seen a surge of interest and tremendous advance in PHM (Prognostics and Health Management) methods that detect, diagnose, and predict the effects of adverse events. The PHM methods enable proactive maintenance decisions, giving rise to adaptive reliability. In this paper, we present a RAP (Resilience Allocation Problem) whose goal is to allocate reliability and PHM efficiency to components in an engineering context. The optimally allocated reliability and PHM efficiency levels serve as the design specifications for the system RBDO (Reliability-Based Design Optimization) and the system PHM design, which can be used to derive the detailed design of components and PHM units. The RAP is demonstrated using a simplified aircraft control actuator design problem resulting in a highly resilient actuator with optimally allocated reliability, PHM efficiency and redundancy for the given parameter settings.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of developmental assets(social support, ego-resilience) on school adjustment on Korean Chinese left-behind adolescents. This study is meaningful to find implications for preparing supportive measures for the school adjustment of them. Method: 412 students who were in 3 middle schools in Yanbian Korean Autonomous Region responded to the questionnaire. A structural equation model was analyzed using SPSS 24.0 and AMOS 24.0 programs. Results: The main results of this study are as follows: First, left-behind adolescents' social support is influenced directly on school adaptation and indirectly through ego-resilience. Second, the left-behind adolescents with higher ego-resilience showed higher school adjustment. Conclusions: This study suggests that a balanced support system for developmental assets as internal and environmental factors is necessary for Korean Chinese left-behind adolescents' school adjustment.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of post-traumatic stress on anxiety of national merits of war and to investigate the moderating effect of ego resilience on the relationship between variables. We collected data on 200 national merits of war from August 2017 to October 2017 and examined general characteristics, post traumatic stress, anxiety, and ego resilience by using SPSS 24.0 Statistics Program. Post-traumatic stress was positively correlated with anxiety (r=.426, p<.001) and negatively correlation with ego-resilience (r=-.297, p<.001), respectively. Anxiety was negatively correlated with ego-resilience (r=-.656, p<.001), and ego-resilience was found to have a moderating effect on post-traumatic stress and anxiety (F=45.796, p<.001). Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop a national education system to manage post-traumatic stress and to operate a training and management program considering the characteristics of the subjects.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a program for couples in early stage of marriage for enhancing family resilience based on the concept of 'Family Resilience' by Walsh. Based on the literature review of couples in early stage of marriage, marital enrichment, and Family Resilience, a program focused on belief system, organizational pattern, and communication process was designed and implemented. The program was applied to seven couples in early stage of marriage for four (3hours/session/week) sessions. The Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test was used to compare the pre and post effects of the program. By operating a focus group composed of the program participants, a qualitative analysis of the participant's evaluation was performed. The pre and post comparative analysis showed a significant enhancement in belief system, organizational pattern, communication process, and dyadic adjustment. The results of the qualitative study in the focus group also reinforced the effectiveness of the program. The evaluation showed that the 3 hour/ 4 session program was appropriate in terms program format. The significances of this study are the concretion of the concept of Family Resilience and providing practice tools for the daily practitioner.
