The Manila clam, Ruditapes philippinarum, has been considered as a sentinel species due to dominant distribution along the coast of Korea and well developed regulatory system. In order to develop and understand immune responses of the Manila clams, clams were exposed to $50\;{\mu}g/L$ of cadmium chloride (Cd) for 8 days and monitored the cellular immune parameters of the hemocytes including blast cell composition, DNA damage, necrosis, apoptosis and hemocyte mortality using a flow cytometer. The results showed that all immune parameters analyzed in the present study increased remarkably compared to the controls and the increases were statistically significant. Apoptosis rate was higher than necrosis rate in the clams exposed to Cd suggesting that apoptosis was preferably induced by the concentration of Cd used in the present study. Our study indicates that the measurement of cellular immune responses of the Manila clam using flow cytometer will be a useful technique for assessment of heavy metal contamination in marine environment.
The aim of this study was 1) to confirm the practical efficiency of a routine milk P4 monitoring system for postpartum reproductive management of a dairy herd, and 2) to evaluate the relationship between the blood metabolic profiles, milk quality and body weight of individual cows in the farm records, which may reflect the postpartum nutritional condition, and the time of postpartum resumption of ovarian activity of dairy cows. A total of 116 Holstein cows was used in the present study. First, during the period of Experiment 1, postpartum reproductive management based on weekly measured milk P4 concentration from individual cows was conducted. Compared with the reproductive records of the past two years without P4 monitoring, although the day from calving to first AI did not change, both the number of AI until pregnant (with P4; 1.9 times vs. without P4; 2.9 times) and the days open (with P4; 95.1 days vs. without P4; 135.8 days and 133.8 days) were significantly decreased. In Experiment 2, the measurement of blood constituents such as albumin, blood urea nitrogen, packed cell volume, ammonia, glucose, total cholesterol, non-esterified, AST and $\gamma$-GTP was performed on the blood samples taken once approximately 14 days postpartum, to monitor both health and nutritional conditions. The milk constituent parameters, such as milk protein (MP), milk fat (MF), SNF and lactose, collected from the monthly progeny test of individual cows, were used to monitor the postpartum nutritional status. Furthermore, the data obtained from the routine measurements of body weight were used to calculate the rate of peripartum body weight loss. The resumption day of the postpartum estrous cycle was assumed from the milk P4 profiles of individual cows. There was no clear relationship between each parameter from blood examination and those from resumption time. However, the cows had low values of MP, and SNF, which significantly affected the resumption of the postpartum estrous cycle. Similarly, a higher rate of body weight loss indicated a significant delay (more than 1 month) in the resumption of the postpartum estrous cycle, compared with the groups that had a medium or lower rate of body weight loss. The results of the present study demonstrated that the implementation of routine milk P4 monitoring-based postpartum reproductive management, together with milk quality parameters and routine BW data available in field conditions may be utilized as a practical approach for increasing the postpartum reproductive efficiency of a high yielding dairy herd.
The crystal structure of Probenecid has been determined from 2574 independent reflections collected on an automatic ENRAF-NONIUS CAD-4 diffractometer using graphite-monochromated $Mo-K{\alpa}$ radiation. The crystal is triclinic, space group P$\bar{1}$ with unit cell dimensions a = 7.535(2)${\AA}$, b = 18.473 (5)${\AA}$, c = 5.317(9)${\AA}$, ${\alpha} = 92.00(5)^{\circ}$, ${\beta} = 99.02(5)^{\circ}$, ${\gamma} = 94.89(2)^{\circ}$, V = 727.4(2)${\AA}^3$, Z = 2, $D_m$ = 1.310, $D_x$ = $1.302 gcm^{-3}$, ${\mu}$ = $1.88 cm^{-1}$, F(000) = 304, and T = 298 K. Final R = 0.0676 and $R_w$ = O.0630 for 1209 reflections > 5${\sigma}(F_o)$. In the spacial arrangement about N(13), the sum of bond angles about nitrogen is 350.9° and the nitrogen lies only 0.268(6)${\AA}$ out of S(1)-C(14)-C(17) plane. The S(1)-C(4) distance is 1.792(6)${\AA}$ and the C(4)-S(1)-N(13) angle is $106.5(3)^{\circ}$. The overall conformation of the molecule is folded with respect to sulfur.

The aim of this paper is to propose the method of WDHMM(Weighted DHMM), using the MLP-VQ for the improvement of speaker-independent connect-digit recognition system. MLP neural-network output distribution shows a probability distribution that presents the degree of similarity between each pattern by the non-linear mapping among the input patterns and learning patterns. MLP-VQ is proposed in this paper. It generates codewords by using the output node index which can reach the highest level within MLP neural-network output distribution. Different from the old VQ, the true characteristics of this new MLP-VQ lie in that the degree of similarity between present input patterns and each learned class pattern could be reflected for the recognition model. WDHMM is also proposed. It can use the MLP neural-network output distribution as the way of weighing the symbol generation probability of DHMMs. This newly-suggested method could shorten the time of HMM parameter estimation and recognition. The reason is that it is not necessary to regard symbol generation probability as multi-dimensional normal distribution, as opposed to the old SCHMM. This could also improve the recognition ability by 14.7% higher than DHMM, owing to the increase of small caculation amount. Because it can reflect phone class relations to the recognition model. The result of my research shows that speaker-independent connected-digit recognition, using MLP-VQ and WDHMM, is 84.22%.

In this paper, we suggest the dynamic-response-free SMPS using a new high-resolution DPWM generator based on switched-capacitor delay technique. In the proposed system, duty ratio of DPWM is controlled by voltage slope of an internal capacitor using switched-capacitor delay technique. In the proposed circuit, it is possible to track output voltage by controlling current of the internal capacitor of the DPWM generator through comparison between the feedback voltage and the reference voltage. Therefore the proposed circuit is not restricted by the dynamic-response characteristic which is a problem in the existing SMPS using the closed-loop control method. In addition, it has great advantage that ringing phenomenon due to overshoot/undershoot does not appear on output voltage. The proposed circuit can operate at switching frequencies of 1MHz~10MHz using internal operating frequency of 100 MHz. The maximum current of the core circuit is 2.7 mA and the total current of the entire circuit including output buffer is 15 mA at the switching frequency of 10 MHz. The proposed circuit has DPWM duty ratio resolution of 0.125 %. It can accommodate load current up to 1 A. The maximum ripple of output voltage is 8 mV. To verify operation of the proposed circuit, we carried out simulation with Dongbu Hitek BCD $0.35{\mu}m$ technology parameter.
N-vinyl caprolactam (NVCL), a kind of N-vinyl amide monomer, must be dissolved in continuous phase ($scCO_2$) for dispersion polymerization in supercritical carbon dioxide. Phase behavior of $CO_2$+NVCL is very important and necessary for determining initial polymerization condition and for monomer extraction from final polymer. There is the limitation of experimental method for obtaining pure properties of the monomer because of the possibility of polymerization. And N-methyl caprolactam (NMCL) is the useful solvent for the gas treating process. In the viewpoint of molecular thermodynamics, NVCL and NMCL have same functional group i.e. ${\varepsilon}$-caprolactam. In the case of NVCL, hydrogen of amide group is substituted with vinyl group and for NMCL, hydrogen of amide group is substituted with methyl group. We suggested modified group contribution method for this ${\varepsilon}$-caprolactam derivatives. This new group contribution parameter was applied to correlate $CO_2$ + N-vinyl caprolactam or N-methyl caprolactam system.
We have developed an inversion algorithm for loop-loop electromagnetic (EM) data, based on the localised non-linear or extended Born approximation to the solution of the 2.5D integral equation describing an EM scattering problem. Source and receiver configuration may be horizontal co-planar (HCP) or vertical co-planar (VCP). Both multi-frequency and multi-separation data can be incorporated. Our inversion code runs on a PC platform without heavy computational load. For the sake of stable and high-resolution performance of the inversion, we implemented an algorithm determining an optimum spatially varying Lagrangian multiplier as a function of sensitivity distribution, through parameter resolution matrix and Backus-Gilbert spread function analysis. Considering that the different source-receiver orientation characteristics cause inconsistent sensitivities to the resistivity structure in simultaneous inversion of HCP and VCP data, which affects the stability and resolution of the inversion result, we adapted a weighting scheme based on the variances of misfits between the measured and calculated datasets. The accuracy of the modelling code that we have developed has been proven over the frequency, conductivity, and geometric ranges typically used in a loop-loop EM system through comparison with 2.5D finite-element modelling results. We first applied the inversion to synthetic data, from a model with resistive as well as conductive inhomogeneities embedded in a homogeneous half-space, to validate its performance. Applying the inversion to field data and comparing the result with that of dc resistivity data, we conclude that the newly developed algorithm provides a reasonable image of the subsurface.

Soil investigation data at 7 different locations around Honam costal region were analyzed and experimental correlations between soil properties and parameters of soft clay were presented. Most soils were classified as CL and CH by the Unified Soil Classification System and were unstable structurally because the water contents were generally greater than the liquid limits. The compression index has good correlations with water content, liquid limit and initial void ratio. The trend of these correlations were similar to the Skempton equation Cc = 0.009(LL -10) and other studies for Korean soft clays but the constants were small different. The slope of these correlations for Honam costal region were slightly greater than those for Kyunggi costal region and Kyungnam costal region. The correlation coefficient (R) between the liquid limit and the plastic index is 0.93. It is seen that not only the water content and the liquid limit but also the water content and the initial void ratio are correlate, therefore the experimental equations were presented for the practical purpose.

Thermal distribution in soils must be considered in engineering designs and constructions, including estimates of frost heave and thaw settlement, infrastructure in cold regions, and geothermal systems. Because thermal conductivity is a key parameter for evaluation of thermal distribution in soils, it must be accurately estimated. The thermal conductivity of fine-grained soils has been widely studied in recent years; however, few studies have reported a reliable method for experimental measurement. The present study presents the results of an experimental investigation of the thermal conductivity of a saturated kaolinite-silica mixture with respect to the variation of dry density. Thermal conductivities were measured in Constant Rate of Strain (CRS) consolidation tests, and the experimental data were analyzed to evaluate the accuracy of the new measurement system. In addition, we present an evaluation method for predicting thermal conductivity in fine-grained soils.

The smart farm is a remarkable system because it utilizes information and communication technologies in agriculture to bring high productivity and excellent qualities of crops. It automatically measures the growth environment of the crops and accumulates huge amounts of environmental information in real time growing in smart farms using multi-variable control of environmental factors. The statistical model using the collected big data will be helpful for decision making in order to control optimal growth environment of crops in smart farms. Using data collected from a smart farm of tomato, we carried out multiple regression analysis to determine the relationship between yield and environmental factors and to predict yield of tomato. In this study, appropriate parameter modification was made for environmental factors considering tomato growth. Using these new factors, we fit the model and derived the optimal environmental factors that affect the yields of tomato. Based on this, we could predict the yields of tomato. It is expected that growth environment can be controlled to improve tomato productivities by using statistical model.
