  • In his paper, we have developed the SMD(surface mounted device) type PECL(positive emitter-coupled logic) VCXO of the $5{\times}7mm$ size for gratifying the requested specifications and the multilayer ceramic SMD(surface mounted device) package technology. The VCXO wired with the PECL(positive emitter coupled logic) package take place a stray inductance and a parasitic capacitance by the length and the inner pattern of the VCXO and the amplitude attenuation and signal loss due to the reflection of power source and the noise component. We have developed the Zig system to analyze the precise spectrum and evaluate the performance. The basic operating voltage is the 3.3 V and have the frequency range of 120MHz-180MHz. The Q factor is over 5K and it has the low jitter characteristics of 3.5 ps and low phase noise.

  • The startingpoint of successful buildingproduction process is the feasibility study of the project. If the feasibility study is poor which is affected in direct production processes such as designing and engineering, it incurs a great unrecoverable loss to the company. The governmentinstitutionalized the feasibility study for projects that budgets over 50billion won in an effort to ensure competitiveness of the construction industry after IMF; however, the system and effort to created systematic studies or guidance preparation for private construction development projects are lacking in great deal. Therefore, the objective of this study is to establish the analysis factors of feasibility study and evaluation standard by systematic analysis in consideration of the changes of various variables and mutual relationships using system dynamics technique for office buildings among commercial buildings.

  • Purpose: In this research, we develop an effectiveness analysis simulation model using Agent Based Modeling with Communication Effects for the development of a new weapon system. Methods: To describe the future battlefield that has more complexity, we develop Agent Based Modeling to describe communication Effects. We use the communication theory (Path-Loss Model) and the real map. Results: We have compared simulation model with real map and simulation model without real map. The Blue Survival Ratio of simulation model with real map is worse than one without real map since the performance of communication gets lower. Conclusion: There are many studies about the effectiveness analysis of a weapon system. Most of previous researches assumed no communication error. In the real world, however, it's not appropriate assumption. Therefore, this study considers the communication error and shows that it is important factor in the effectiveness analysis.

  • A key component of aviation safety is to eliminate the errors in commercial aircraft air data systems to ensure stable aviation operation. Although the technical aspects such as the maintenance and inspection play a pertinent role, human errors are expected to have a similar or even larger influence on the aviation safety. Aviation maintenance and inspection tasks are often performed by a complex organization, in which individuals perform a variety of tasks in an environment involving time pressure, sparse feedback, and complex conditions. These situational characteristics, combined with the general tendency of human error, may lead to various types of errors, which may have critical consequences such as accidents and loss of life. For instance, if an amber message "IAS DISAGREE" is displayed on the primary flight display while the aircraft is rolling on the runway to takeoff, the crew immediately performs a rejected takeoff operation and troubleshoots the air data system. This paper proposes alternative approaches to address the occurrence of defects due to the human factors involved in the practical processes of the air data system of commercial aircraft.

  • The safety of nuclear installations is largely determined by the tightness of fuel elements cladding. As the Fukushima nuclear accident showed, the main task in case of loss of power supply is to ensure reliable removal of residual heat release from spent fuel pool (SFP) with irradiated fuel assemblies (IFAs). The paper presents the results of calculated-experimental studies and thermal-hydraulic modeling of temperature storage modes of IFAs in SFP. Experimental studies of SFP's temperature regime and calculated evaluation of residual heat removal due to the thermal conductivity of building structures surrounding the SFP were performed. To ensure the safe operation of research reactors, it's necessary to know the IFA's residual heat power (RHP) in the reactor and SFP, which is determined depending on the operating time of fuel assemblies (FAs) and the IFAs calculated holding time. The FAs operating time depends on the reactor energy output. The IFAs calculated holding time is determined by the fuel burnup, U-235 mass in the fuel, and reactor utilization factor. The IFAs fuel burnup was calculated using the MCU-PTR program. Also presented are the RHP's calculation results using some of the empirical dependencies. The concept of a passive heat removal system (PHRS) based on thermosyphon's operating principle was proposed.

  • The ABB-CE System-80 reactor power cutback system(RPCS) is designed to enable continuous operation of the reactor without trip in the events of the loss of one of the two main feedwater pumps and loss of load, and thus improves plant availability in a cost effective manner. In this study expansion of RPCS has been investigated for continuous reactor operation without trip in the event of an inward control element assembly(CEA) deviation including a single rod drop. Under the expanded function of RPCS the control system will provide a rapid core power reduction on demand by releasing CEAs to drop into the core and reduce the turbine power, if necessary, to follow the reactor power variation. This design feature which is included as the new design features to be incorporated in the ABB-CE System-80+ meets the EPRI advanced light water reactor(ALWR) requirements. For this study core analysis models of System-80+ have been developed to simulate the nuclear steam supply system(NSSS) response as well as the RPCS initiation of rapid CEA insertion. The results of this study demonstrate that the reactor trip can be avoided in the event of inward CEA deviation including a single rod drop by the RPCS initiation and thus the plant availability and capacity factor would be increased.

  • Ultrasonic shears is currently in wide use as an energy device for minimal invasive surgery. There is an advantage of minimizing the carbonization behavior of the tissue due to the vibrational energy transfer system of the transducer by applying a piezoelectric ceramic. However, the vibrational energy transfer system has a pitfall in energy consumption. When the movement of the forceps is interrupted by the tissue, the horn which transfers the vibrational energy of the transducer will be affected. A study was performed to recognize different tissues by measuring the impedance of the transducer of the ultrasonic shears in order to find the factor of energy consumption according to the tissue. In the first stage of the study, the voltage and current of the transducer connecting portion were measured, along with the phase changes. Subsequently, in the second stage, the impedance of the transducer was directly measured. In the final stage, using the handpiece, we grasped the tissue and observed the impedance differences appeared in the transducer To verify the proposed tissue distinguishing method, we used the handpiece to apply a force between 5N and 10N to pork while increasing the value of the impedance of the transducer from 400 ${\Omega}$.. It was found that fat and skin tissue, tendon, liver and protein all have different impedance values of 420 ${\Omega}$, 490 ${\Omega}$, 530 ${\Omega}$, and 580 ${\Omega}$, respectively. Thus, the impedance value can be used to distinguish the type of tissues grasped by the forceps. In the future study, this relationship will be used to improve the energy efficiency of ultrasonic shears.

  • In this paper, $3^{rd}$ overtone mode energy-trapped filter using modified $PbTiO_3$ system ceramics was manufactured to apply for intermediate frequency SMD-type filter with the variations of splitted electrode size. To investigate the effects of splitted electrode size on filter characteristics of $3^{rd}$ overtone mode energy-trapped filter, ceramic wafers were fabricated by etching splitted rectangular electrode size($b{\times}d$) of b=0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1mm, d=0.3, 0.4, 0.5mm, respectively. And then, SMD-type ceramic filter were fabricated with the size of $3.7{\times}3.1mm$. With the variations of b size, insertion loss, 3dB bandwidth and 25dB stop bandwidth showed nearly constant value, but with the variations of d size, insertion loss, 3dB bandwidth, selectivity(shape factor) decreased.⨀؀က?⨀Ⴣ?⨀਀Ⴣ?⨀ꞻꎀ̀ကꮻꎀༀ뮻ꎀ᠀Ȁ햻ꎀĀힻꎀȀ?ꎀ̀?ꎀȀꎀĀꎀĀꎀĀꎀĀꎀЀȀꎀࠀꎀഀڼꎀഀᒼꎀ؀ᮼꎀ䈀ȀȀ悼ꎀऀ檼ꎀഀȀ禼ꎀഀ螼ꎀऀȀȀ鎼ꎀഀȀꊼꎀഀ낼ꎀࠀ즼ꎀԀ쾼ꎀ܀ힼꎀ

  • In this study, combustion and smoke release characteristics of a non-class 1E cable for nuclear power plants were investigated according to aging period. The aging was reproduced through an accelerated aging method for interval of 10 years :10, 20, 30 and 40 year, which was applied the Arrhenius equation. The cable was subjected to accelerated aging. In order to understand combustion and smoke release characteristics, the cone calorimeter test was performed according to the standard code of KS F ISO 5660-1. Heat release rate, mass loss rate, average rate of heat emission and smoke production rate were examined through cone calorimeter test. Fire performance index, fire growth index and smoke factor were derived from test results for the comparison of quantitative fire risk. When comparing the fire performance index and the fire growth index, the early fire risk tends to decrease as aging progresses, which might be attributed from the fact that the volatile substances of cables were evaporated. However, when comparing the heat release rate, average rate of heat emission and mass loss rate, which represent the mid and late periods of the fire risk, the values of accelerated aging cables were much higher than those of non-aged cable, which signifies the unstable formation of the char layer resulted in the change in the performance of flame retardants. In addition, the results from the smoke characteristics show that the accelerated aging cables were lager than the non-aged cables in terms of overall fire risk. These results can be used as baseline data when assessing fire risk of cables and establishing fire safety code for nuclear power plants.

  • The loss of safety for reservoirs brought about by climate change and facility aging leads to reservoir failures, which results in the loss of lives and property damage in downstream areas. Therefore, it is necessary to provide a Reservoir Failure Forecasting System for downstream residents to detect the early signs of failure (with sensors) in real-time and perform safety management to prevent and minimize possible damage. For the verification of established water level management criteria, 10 water level data up to reservoir capacity was selected. Weight factor and trend line were applied to dramatic increase section of water level in the 1 year period data. The results shows that water level criteria based on three even parts shows less than 7% of standard deviation and it is appropriate to verify management criteria.
