Implementation of Visible Light Communication System Modulated by a Switching Driver Circuit of Lighting LED (조명용 LED의 스위칭 구동 회로로 변조되는 가시광 통신 시스템의 구현)

  • In this paper, visible light communication(VLC) system modulated by a switching driver circuit of lighting light emitting diode(LED), not only for illumination but also for optical wireless communication, is implemented. Presented system could overcome the drawbacks of prior linear modulation technique such as low efficiency, heat generation, and limits to realization of high power lighting LED. Experimental results from the realized digital audio system are presented to confirm the superiority of the proposed circuit. Our prototype achieves a transmission data rate of 10 Mbps with a radius of 1.5 meters using 20 W output power, and the signals were detected successfully.

  • Music affects sensitivity and emotion of human, emotional power of the music has been applied to various fields. Especially, to visualize as well as listen to music is able to create various atmosphere. In this paper, we proposed sensitivity control system for interaction with people to merge music and lighting. Because existing FT(Fourier Transform) has not information about the time, to analyze information of changed signal according to the time is difficult. In order to solve such a problem, we use STFT(Short Time Fourier Transform) method to analyze music signal. and also, we classified music for three genre and compared the frequency characteristics according to genre, and control the color, brightness of LED light based on the frequency components within analysis range. Unlike existing LED lighting control study using music, we had color control of emotional lighting and brightness control using variation amount of music signal in this paper. Proposed lighting control system will be able to utilize various industry fields as well as emotional lighting.

  • This study implemented the LED lighting control system using Zigbee Communication. We designed a desk lamp using LEDs. The PWM signals control LEDs using LED drivers. A desk lamp received PWM signals using Zigbee protocol to control LED Color, Color temperature and brightness. Zigbee protocol that have such several advantages to existent Home network system can upgrade more interface dimension.

  • This paper introduces the improvement of QoS to compensate the decreasing LED performance by temperature characteristic in the LED-ID communication system. LED does not only use as a lighting device, but also uses as a communication device. The conventional system is transmitted by RGB of LED following the mixture color ratio, which determined the color of lighting, and the BER performance of each RGB signals. However, when the LED used consistently, it has occurred the heat temperature. As a result, LED is degraded the performance by increased temperature each device. To solve this problem, we proposed the adaptive modulation and coding scheme by temperature of device to improve the performance of system and satisfied the QoS in the LED-ID system.

  • In this paper, we propose Bluetooth based on efficient indoor-emotion-lighting control system. The proposed Bluetooth based on indoor-emotion-lighting control system was designed to be automatically controlled by the motion sensor light and using a Bluetooth module may be controlled to light up or mobile PC, wall pad. In addition, It was designed the LED lighting On/Off control the environment according to Humidity, the temperature, illumination, motion sensors. System based on the bluetooth is automatic control possible using the illumination sensor, and by selecting the desired lighting partial control can be designed. The experimental efficiency results of the proposed indoor-emotion-lighting control system were designed to provide an internal environment adapted to a resident, were able to maximize the energy savings, have reduced power consumption than the traditional simple On/Off control system.

Effects of Current Modulation Conditions on the Chromaticity of Phosphor Converted (PC) White LEDs

  • For two well-known modulation methods, stepwise current modulation (SCM) and pulse width modulation (PWM), the effects of driving current modulation conditions on chromaticity were experimentally investigated in a white LED lighting system. For the experimental implementation of both SCM and PWM, a white LED lighting was fabricated using phosphor converted (PC) white light emitting diodes (LEDs) and a driving circuit module was developed. By using them, the variations of illuminance, color coordinates, and spectrum were evaluated under various forward current conditions. Through the analysis in color coordinates, yellow shift in SCM and blue shift in PWM were observed on chromaticity diagrams with increasing average driving current. In addition, in order to analyze color deviation quantitatively, color distance before and after current increase, and the correlated color temperature (CCT) were calculated. As a result, for the white LED lighting in both modulation conditions, the maximum difference in the calculated CCT was obtained close to 1000 K. It means that careful consideration is required to be taken in the design of illumination systems to avoid serious problems such industrial accidents.

  • In this paper, LED lighting system is realized by using Bluetooth wireless communications and smartphones. A bluetooth module with a lighting control function is manufactured by miniaturizing a development board of TI company and the volume of LED dimming system as a whole is reduced. And a trial product is materialized by designing a hardware composed of the manufactured bluetooth module, LED down light equipped with degree warm white and cool white, and 2-channel LED driver; and LED dimming software. The materialized trial product is controled in terms of the brightness and color temperature of LED light source using an application of a smartphone. The experiment showed that the users can easily control the intensity of illumination of LED light source by using the scroll bar of the applications of smartphones. In addition, the color temperatures of both warm white and cool white can be controlled, and when the color temperature of the trial product using the manufactured bluetooth module is compared with that of a trial product of TI company, they show the same color temperatures.

  • Microalgae have been considered as a promising microorganism in the field of bio-industry due to their abilities to fix carbon dioxide as well as biosynthesize valuable secondary metabolites. Of many lighting sources for microalgal cultivation, LED (Lighting Emitting Diode) has been emerged as the appropriate choice with multiple advantages over the conventional bulbs. However, it is only in recent years that we have witnessed the possibility of application of LED into microalgae cultivation system. LED will serve as an evolutionary lighting source for microalgae cultivation system and open the frontier for integrative bio-industries. In this paper, we present the comprehensive review on the recent trends of LED applications into microalgal biotechnology.

An Development of Landscape Lighting Power Control System with Solar Cell Generator Equipment for Energy Saving (에너지절감을 위한 태양광발전설비 연계형 경관조명 전력제어시스템의 개발)

  • In this paper, we propose the landscape lighting power control system with solar sell generator equipment for energy saving, and also which is included the landscape lighting power transformation device. The power transformation device can check inverse current in the power of the solar cell module and control the power of the battery. And we present the design of landscape lighting power control system. The power control system uses microprocessor with charging system and power transformation device. And also it can control the power of loads under consideration intensity of illumination. The landscape lighting loads are composed of LED(Lighting Emitting Diode) and HID(High Intensity Discharge)lamps. To evaluate property, we installed the solar cell array which generate three kilo watt power. Experimental results show that the proposed system can have stability and energy saving on the mixed configuration of electric loads with DC and AC lamps.

  • A quasi-resonant flyback converter using a simple 8-bit microcontroller for a LED lighting is proposed in this paper. The proposed converter is easily and precisely controlled by the simple controller using a low-cost 8-bit microcontroller. Also, in order to operate the 8-bit microcontroller, the proposed converter system does not require any additional power supply for the controller. A prototype power supply is developed to supply a 270[W] LED lighting with the wide input voltage ranges ($175[V_{ac}]-265[V_{ac}]$). Experimental results will be show the practicality and validity of the proposed circuit.
