지리 센서 네트워크 기반 환경 모니터링 시스템에서의 센서 데이터 추상화 및 활용 (Sensor Data Abstraction and Utilization in Environmental Monitoring System based on Geosensor Network)

  • 무선 통신 기술과 다양한 감지 기술들의 발달로 실세계의 환경을 분석하고 생태계의 변화를 이해하기 위한 환경 모니터링 시스템들이 널리 개발되고 있다. 이러한 시스템들은 센서 데이터로부터 유용한 정보를 추출하기 위하여, 원시 센서 데이터를 기반으로 질의를 처리하기 때문에, 환경 모니터링 응용에서 전송되는 넓은 지역의 대용량 센서 데이터를 다루기 위해서는 높은 질의 처리 비용을 요구한다. 또한 현재 및 가까운 미래의 상황 체크를 요청하는 사용자 질의에 답하기 어려운 문제점이 있다. 이 논문에서는 환경 모니터링을 위해 사용자 질의를 효과적으로 처리하기 위한 모니터링 시스템 구조를 제시하고, 설계된 센서 데이터 필터링과 추상화 모델의 활용을 기술한다. 제시된 추상화 기법은 GIS의 경사 그리드를 기반으로 설계되어, 빠른 데이터 접근 및 갱신을 지원한다. 상황 분석을 위해 추상화 모델에서 센서 타입별로 추출된 내용은 질의 처리기에서 결합되어 사용자에게 의미있는 정보를 제공하는데 도움을 준다.

  • Context-awareness techniques in ubiquitous computing environment provide various services to users who need to get information via the analysis of collected information from sensors in a spatial area. Context-awareness has been increased in ubiquitous computing and is applied to many different applications such as disaster management system, intelligent robot system, transportation management system, shopping management system, and digital home service. Many researches have recently focused on services that provide the appropriate information, which are collected from Internet by different kinds of sensors, to users according to context of their surrounding environment. In this paper, we propose an abstraction model to manage the large-scale contextual information and their metadata which are collected from different kinds of in-situ sensors in a spatial area and are presented them on the web. This model is composed of the modules expressing functional elements of sensors using sensorML(Sensor Model Language) based on XML language and the modules managing contextual information, which is transmitted from the sensors.

추상화계층에 기반한 작업영역분석의 모델링 개념 및 적용 원칙 (Work Domain Analysis Based on Abstraction Hierarchy: Modelling Concept and Principles for Its Application)

  • As a work analysis technique, Work Domain Analysis (WDA) aims to identify the design knowledge structure of a work domain that human operators interact with through human-system interfaces. Abstraction hierarchy (AH) is a multi-level, hierarchical knowledge representation framework for modeling the functional structure of any kinds of systems. Thus, WDA based on AH aims to identify the functional knowledge structure of a work domain. AH has been used in a range of work domains and problems to model their functional knowledge structure and has proven its generality and usefulness. However, many of researchers and system designers have reported that it is never easy to understand the concepts underlying AH and use it effectively for WDA. This would be because WDA is a form of work analysis that is different from other types of work analysis techniques such as task analysis and AH has several unique characteristics that are differentiated from other types of function analysis techniques used in systems engineering. With this issue in mind, this paper introduces the concepts of WDA based on AH and offers a comprehensive list of references. Next, this paper proposes a set of principles for effectively applying AH for work domain analysis, which are developed based on the author's experiences, consultation with experts, and literature reviews.

샷의 타입을 이용한 뉴스 아카이브 시스템의 설계 및 구현 (Design and Implementation of a news Archive System using Shot Types)

  • 뉴스 아카이브 시스템을 구축하기 위하여서는 먼저 뉴스 비디오 스트림을 기사 단위로 인덱싱하고, 사용자가 기사 비디오를 모두 시청하지 않아도 그 내용을 이해할 수 있도록 하는 추상화 방법이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 뉴스 비디오 스트림에 대하여 샷 타입을 이용하여 기사 단위로 인덱싱할 수 있는 새로운 기사 경계 검출 방법 및 기사 추상화 방법을 제안하다. 제안한 인덱싱 방법에서는 뉴스 비디오의 샷들을 앵커 샷, 인터뷰 샷, 연설 샷, 보도 샷, 그래픽 자료 샷 등으로 나눈다. 모든 기사는 앵커 샷으로 시작하고, 앵커 샷은 다른 샷에 비하여 길이가 길고 특별한 화면 구조를 가지고 있기 때문에 이를 이용하여 기사 단위의 인덱싱을 수행한다. 또한 각 기사에 대한 효과적인 추상화를 위하여 앵커 샷의 오른쪽 위에 있는 그래픽 데이타와 기사를 이루는 다른 샷들의 키 프레임들을 이용한 기사 포스터를 구성하는 방법을 제안하였다. 여러 종류의 뉴스 비디오 스트림에 대한 실험 결과에 의하면 본 논문에서 제안한 기사 경계 검출 알고리즘의 검출율(recall) 및 정확도 (precision)값이 각각 0.92 및 0.96 이상 됨을 알 수 있다. 또한 본 논문에서는 WWW상에서 수행되는 뉴스 아카이브 시스템의 프로토타입 시스템의 설계 및 구현에 대하여서도 설명한다.

Conceptual Model for Fuzzy-CBR Support System for Collision Avoidance at Sea Using Ontology

  • Fuzzy-CBR Collision Avoidance Support System is a system that finds a solution from past knowledge retrieved from the database and adapted to a new situation. Its algorithm has resulted to an adapting a solution for a new situation. However, ontology is needed in identifying concepts, relations and instances that are involved in a situation in order to improve and facilitate the efficient retrieval of similar cases from the CBR database. This paper proposes the way to apply ontology for identifying the concepts involved in a new environment and use them as inputs, for a ship collision avoidance support system., Similarity will be obtained through document articulation and using abstraction levels. A conceptual model of a maneuvering situation will be built using these ontologies.

한국 전통복식에 투영된 좌우 개념 (The Concept of Right-and-Left in Korean Traditional Costume)

  • Underlying principles on the origin and establishment of the concept fo Right-and-Left (R-&-L) in Korean traditional costume is studied in this paper. Among Korean traditional costumes, ordinary and funeral costumes are considered in this study. Thed concept of R-&-L expanded into different elements of daily life among Korean people is also considered as a process of conceptual development : starting from astron-omy principle, then developed to pragmatism principle, and expanded to abstraction principle. No evidence on the case where the astro-omy principle was directly applied to was found in this study. In most cases, pragmatism and abstraction principles are observed as underly-ing principles. In ordinary costumes, pragmatism principle is the fundamental base for R-&-L through right-hand-use rule. Even though abstraction prin-ciple was found in some ordinary costumes, we believe that this was generated for adding more meanings in addition to the pragmatism principle. In funeral costumes, pragmatism principle was almost totally ignored unlike in ordinary costumes because the funeral rite was performed though formality with abstract thoughts. The abstraction principle was exercised with the form of simple-discrimination rule based on the dual system along with Yin-Yang related cultural rules such as‘Yang-left-and-Yin-right’or‘father-left-and-mother-right’. However, the case where‘left-male-and-right-female’rule is applied to was not found in this study.

협동적 의사결정을 위한 다단계 모형 통합 (A Multilevel Model Integration for Collaborative Decision Making)

  • Corporate level decision making with multiple decision makers in a consistent way is essential in Decision Support System. However, since the decision makers have different interests and knowledge, the models used by them are also different in their level of abstraction. This makes decision makers waste a lot of efforts for an integrated decision making. The purpose of this paper is to propose an integration mechanism so that collaborative decision making models may be used synthetically in multi-abstraction level. Models are classified as multimedia model, mathematical model, qualitative model, causal & directional model, causal model, directional model and relationship model according to the level of abstraction. The proposed integration mechanism consists of model interpretation phase. model transformation phase, and model integration phase. Specifically, the model transformation Phase is divided into (1) model tightening mode which gather information to make a model transformed into upper level model, and (2) model relaxing mode which makes lower level model. In the model integration phase, models of same level are to be integrated schematically. An illustrative M&A-decision example is given to show the possibility of the methodology.

  • A new PC-based Engine Control system (ECS) is developed using an object oriented programming method. This system provides more convenient environment for engine tests, easier user interface and extended functions. A Windows-based ECS software is developed with class, and the class structure is built on encapsulation and abstraction. The closed-loop engine control scheme can be easily constructed by using dynamic link library and multitasking. This means that a user can perform desired experiments without clear knowledge of the hardware structure of the ECS. Also this system allows a user to individually control the ignition and fuel injection for each cylinder in a simple manner such as through a keyboard/mouse or in a real-time operation from a closed-loop control program.

Design Approach with Higher Levels of Abstraction: Implementing Heterogeneous Multiplication Server Farms

  • In order to reuse a register transfer level (RTL)-based IP block, it takes another architectural exploration in which the RTL will be put, and it also takes virtual platforms to develop the driver and applications software. Due to the increasing demands of new technology, the hardware and software complexity of organizing embedded systems is growing rapidly. Accordingly, the traditional design methodology cannot stand up forever to designing complex devices. In this paper, I introduce an electronic system level (ESL)-based approach to designing complex hardware with a derivative of SystemVerilog. I adopted the concept of reuse with higher levels of abstraction of the ESL language than traditional HDLs to design multiplication server farms. Using the concept of ESL, I successfully implemented server farms as well as a test bench in one simulation environment. It would have cost a number of Verilog/C simulations if I had followed the traditional way, which would have required much more time and effort.

  • By considering low power design at higher levels of abstraction rather than at lower levels of abstraction, we can apply various transformation techniques to a system design with wider view and obtain much more effective power reduction with less cost and effort. In this paper, a transformation technique, called power - conscious loop folding is proposed for high level synthesis of a low power system.Our work is focused on reducing the power consumed by functional units in adata path dominated circuit through the decrease of switching activity. Te transformation algorithm has been implemented and integrated into HYPER, a high level synthesis system for experiments. In our experiments, we could achieve a pwoer reduction of up to 50% for data path dominated circuits.
