  • The basic concepts, which are related to the PSS tuning conditions and performance conditions for the safe of determination of PSS gain and compensation of phasor lagging, are thoroughly investigated in this first part. The performance conditions, where the power system has the lowest inherent damping torque and PSS should provide maximum damping torque, are examined by analysing synchronizing torque and damping torque supplied by the voltage control loop at the oscillation frequency. PSS tuning conditions are also investigated by observing the phasor lagging and the gain, resulted from power system-generator-excitation system depending on operating conditions, such as generator active power, reactive power, transmission impedance and AVR gain. The basic concepts developed in this PartImake it possible to lay foundation for the discussion of PSS tuning in Part II.

  • The single phase line start permanent magnet motor has high efficiency and power factor when it operates synchronous speed. The rotor structure is composed of permanent magnet and cage bars. The motor is accelerated by rotor bars and synchronized by magnet and rotor saliency. but starting torque is disturbed by magnet braking torque so, to obtain good starting performance and synchronizing capability. the design of proper permanent magnet is required.   • This paper is a research for removing the alternators hunting which came about during the par-allel running. The four-pole six-phase alternator is equipped with the converter made out of twelve diodes to rectify all the waves. The hunting came about during the battery charging due to the hunting inducing point existed in r. p. m band 1575[rpm-1690[rpm] To remove the hunting inducing point We modified the four-pole six-phase alternator into the four-pole twevel-phase and increased the short-circuit ratio by decreasing the field coil pitch and increasing the field coil turns. But this method has two defects the first the alternator structure becomes complicating and the second the second the alternator equipped with the converter used in general purpose lately such as the car alternator can not be run in parallel wlthout modifying. To remove the defects the equalizing line was connected between the same phase of the alterna-tor to flow the synchronizing current which syncronize the phases of generator electromotive forces by which the alternator can be run in parallel without reference to the hunting inducing point and without modifying.

  • A microgrid is an aggregation of multiple distributed generators (DGs) such as renewable energy sources, conventional generators, and energy storage systems that provide both electric power and thermal energy. Generally, a microgrid operates in parallel with the main grid. However, there are cases in which a microgrid operates in islanded mode, or in a disconnected state. Islanded microgrid can change its operational mode to grid-connected operation by reconnection to the grid, which is referred to as synchronization. Generally, a single machine simply synchronizes with the grid using a synchronizer. However, the synchronization of microgrid that operate with multiple DGs and loads cannot be controlled by a traditional synchronizer, but needs to control multiple generators and energy storage systems in a coordinated way. This is not a simple job, considering that a microgrid consists of various power electronics-based DGs as well as alternator-based generators that produce power together. This paper introduces the results of research examining an active synchronizing control system that consists of the network-based coordinated control of multiple DGs. Consequently, it provides the microgrid with a deterministic and reliable reconnection to the grid. The proposed method is verified by using the test cases with the experimental setup of a microgrid pilot plant.

  • mSilica developed a scalable integrated circuit solution for driving multiple arrays of LEDs to backlight TFT-LCD panels. The drivers incorporate adaptive power control of the DC-DC power supply powering the LEDs to improve the efficiency while synchronizing PWM dimming with video timing signals VSYNC and HSYNC to reduce motion blur.

  • 터보 노즐에 유동하는 가스 에너지의 변화와 그위상의 조정에 의하여 디젤엔진의 성능 개선 가능성을 검토 하였다. 그리고 디젤기관의 각실린더와 터빈 노즐 면적과 가스의 유동에 대한 동기화를 실시함으로써 엔진 성능 또한 개선할 수 있었다.

  • This paper presents a new systematic contingency selection and screening method for transient stability. The variation of modal synchronizing torque coefficient(MSTC) is computed using eigen-sensitivity analysis of the electromechanical oscillation modes in small signal stability model and contingencies are ranked in decreasing order of the sensitivities of the MSTC(SMSTC). The relevant clusters are identified using the eigenvector or participating factor. The proposed algorithm is tested on the KEPCO system. Ranking obtained by the SMSTC is consistent with the time simulation results by PSS/E.

  • 본 논문은 단상 그리드전압의 동기화에 가장 적합한 곱형 PLL 시스템을 설계한다. 소신호 해석방법으로 PLL 시스템을 모델링하고, 동기 과도 응답특성뿐만 아니라 동기신호의 왜곡을 고려하여 저역필터의 차단주파수 및 이득의 최적 값을 유도한다. 설계의 성능을 검증하기 위하여, 시뮬레이션 및 실험결과로 차단주파수 및 이득의 변화에 동기신호의 과도응답과 리플성분을 관찰한다.

  • Diesel power plant can be used as a power supplier for the isolated place where consumption of electric power is variable. The reason is that mobility and durability of diesel engine is superior to those of other thermal engines. However, there are some disadvantages for using these diesel engines such as bigger vibratory excitation force comparing to the others, which result from high combustion pressure of cylinders and inertia force of piston reciprocating masses. In this paper, control and optimization of torsional vibration of 12K90MC-S engine for diesel power plant using uneven crank angles is identified by theoretical analysis and vibration measurement.

  • In this paper, the Power Management System(PMS) which based on a decision making system according to power strategy is proposed and implemented. PMS is designed to have functions of power monitoring. controlling, synchronizing load sharing and monitoring of driving engine, etc. PMS consists of the internet communication system(ICS). Remote Management System(RMS) and Sensor Driver System (SDS) ICS transmits the monitoring and supervisory data via Internet to Remote Management System(RMS) in real-time SDS detects various power system data on local generator and utility via I/O interface system. I/O interface system receives various status data and outputs control signals. Implemented PMS is tested with dummy signal to verify proposed functions and shows good results. For future study implemented PMS will be tested under real load condition to merchandize.
