  • Flow characteristics of hull wake behind a container ship model were investigated experimentally with varying loading condition and Reynolds number. Large-scale bilge vortices of nearly the same strength are formed in the near-wake region. They are symmetric and counter-rotating with respect to the wake centerline for all loading conditions tested. With going downstream for both design and ballast loading conditions, the strength of the bilge vortices decreases and the wake region expands due to diffusion and viscous dissipation. Under the design loading condition, the bilge vortices start to appear at St=0.363 transverse plane above the propeller-boss. For the ballast loading condition, however, the bilge vortices start to appear at St=0.591 below the propeller-boss. They move upward as the hull wake goes downstream and Reynolds number increases. These wake characteristics, under the ballast loading condition, may weaken the propulsion and cavitation performances of the propeller, which are usually optimized for the design loading condition.

  • A comparative study on ground boundary conditions for the airfoil in ground effect has been carried out. The objective of the present study is to clarify effects of the ground boundary conditions so that it will be helpful to analyse results of wind tunnel tests using the fixed ground board or the image method. A low Mach number preconditioned Navier-Stokes solver using the overlap grid method has been applied. It has been turned out that results with the symmetric boundary condition are almost the same to those with the moving boundary condition. Results with the fixed ground boundary show discrepancy to those with the moving boundary condition when flow separation on the ground board takes place.

  • In this paper, we investigate the feasibility of interference alignment(IA) in signal space in the scenario of multiple cell and multiple user cellular networks, as the feasibility issue is closely related to the solvability of a multivariate polynomial system, we give the mathematical analysis to support the constraint condition obtained from the polynomial equations with the tools of algebraic geometry, and a new distribute IA algorithm is also provided to verify the accessibility of the constraint condition for symmetric system in this paper. Simulation results illustrate that the accessibility of the constraint condition is hold if and only if the degree of freedom(DoF) of each user can be divided by both the transmit and receive antenna numbers.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of visual feedback on the postural control of stroke patients, by systematically varying conditions of visual feedback [eye-open condition (EO) vs. eye-closed condition (EC)], and base-support (both-side support, affected-side support, and unaffected-side support). In this study, we allocated 41 stroke patients with no damage in the cerebellum and visual cortex who can walk at least 10 meters independently, and 35 normal adults who have no experience of stroke to the control group. Both groups were asked to perform a "sit-to-stand" task three to five times, and their postural control ability was measured and compared in terms of asymmetric dependence (AD) instead of the traditional symmetric index (SI) in the literature. The results showed that although both subject groups maintained better postural control in the EO condition than in the EC condition, the patient group appeared to be more stable in EC than in EO when they were required to perform the task of the support condition given on the affected side. These results implied that visual feedback can impair stroke patients' postural control when it is combined with a specific support condition.

  • This paper presents a new approximation for the crystalline lens of the human eye with refracting surfaces based on schematic eye during accommodation. A new model eye describes the iso- indical profiles in the form of symmetric spherical surfaces. A vary important condition which was imposed upon the parameters (thickness, radius) was the lens volume conservation during accommodation.

  • A connection between weak ${\pi}-regularity$ and the condition every prime ideal is maximal will be investigated. We prove that a certain 2-primal ring R is weakly ${\pi}-regular$ if and only if every prime ideal is maximal. This result extends several known results nontrivially. Moreover a characterization of minimal prime ideals is also considered.

  • In this paper we prove a condition under which a hyperbolic starshaped set has a center of hyperbolic symmetry. We also give the definition of isometric diameters for a hyperbolic convex set, which behave similar to affine diameters for Euclidean convex sets. Using this concept, we give a definition of constant hyperbolic width and we prove that the only hyperbolic sets with constant hyperbolic width and with a hyperbolic center of symmetry are hyperbolic discs.

  • General (${\alpha},{\beta}$)-metrics form a rich class of Finsler metrics. They include many important Finsler metrics, such as Randers metrics, square metrics and spherically symmetric metrics. In this paper, we find equations which are necessary and sufficient conditions for such Finsler metric to be locally projectively flat. By solving these equations, we obtain all of locally projectively flat general (${\alpha},{\beta}$)-metrics under certain condition. Finally, we manufacture explicitly new locally projectively flat Finsler metrics.

  • The manifold $^*g-ESX_n$ is a generalized n-dimensional Riemannian manifold on which the differential geometric structure is imposed by the unified field tensor $^*g^{{\lambda}{\nu}}$ through the ES-connection which is both Einstein and semi-symmetric. The purpose of the present paper is to prove a necessary and sufficient condition for a unique Einstein's connection to exist in 5-dimensional $^*g-ESX_5$ and to display a surveyable tnesorial representation of 5-dimensional Einstein's connection in terms of the unified field tensor, employing the powerful recurrence relations in the first class.

  • In this paper, we define signed interval-valued Choquet integrals which have numerous applications in mathematical economics, informatiom theory, expected utility theory, and risk analysis on interval-valued random variables, for examples: interval-valued random payments and interval-valued random profiles, etc. And we discuss axiomatic characterizations of them. Furthermore, we fine some condition that comonotonic additivity of symmetric Choquet integrals on interval-valued random payments is satisfied and give two examples related the main theorem.
