No one would deny that, despite the fact that they are the central factor in any given communication system, language signals have their limitations. For example, language cannot keep up with the radical changes that occur in the world and its ideas. The present meaning of a language signal is always pegged to the past when it was originally created. This limitation in turn puts limitations on the way we conceive of the world, and we have no choice but to watch the world through the refracted, darkly colored lens called language. Lee Sang′s was well aware of these limitations, and his works reflect his suspicion of language. This paper argues that Lee Sang′s "Ogamdo 1" is a poetic commentary on the ambiguity of language signals; that "Ogamdo 2" is an accusation of the stationary nature of language signals; ; and, finally, that "Sune-kwanhan-gakseo (Treatise on Lines) 7" is a poetic expression of Lee Sang′s negative view of the symbolic limitation of, and the fragmentary nature of, language signals.

Scythian Earrings in the Black Sea region had completely degenerated, stifled by motifs and shapes of Greek origin, retaining its representational realism and its full emotional vitality. The purpose of this study is to review and research the symbolic meaning and classifying the types of the Scythian Earrings style through the tombs bequests. The Scythian Earrings were divided into the styles according to the shape, Earring with Ends Shaped like animal's Heads, Boat-Shaped Earrings, Bird-Shaped Pendants earrings, Earrings with a Disc and a Pendant, Earrings Shaped like the Figures, Earring with the drop Pendant, Spiral Earrings. Earrings based on the boat shape enjoyed a long popularity among the Scythians. As that form became elaborated and combined with the disk-pendent, it reflected native rather than Asian or Hellenic tastes. Although Scythian earrings were produced based on the shapes of Greece earrings, they recreated these as Scythian unique style. In particular, the animal motive and the decoration have various changes. The exquisite earrings attest to the elegant taste and splendid wealth of the upper classes.

The ecological theory of perception provides the human living, and meaning integrating norm to overcome the crisis caused by an eastern belief in human-centered wrong rationality formed at the past process of modernization. Prior to the overall consideration of ecological perception theory, looked into the concepts, contribution extent and its limitation of the existing perception theories for the environmental design. By experimentally applying inferred concepts of design to department bridge space and forming the space, certified the applicability of it to the green amenity space. The site Is located in Nowon- Gu Sangge- Dong. The design was processed on the basis of survey, plants growth environment and plants characters. It is expected that this design would serve the commercial space- consumer as a symbolic, environmentally friendly space design

Single formative language created by the standardization of industrial society carries a cell constructive aspect. Such space structural form made gigantic buildings, which has a symbolism as an independent object. Such space shows a morphological symbolism by public preference but it did not establish essential meaning of a shape or concentrated relation. In this regard, this paper tries to show organic similarity of structural formality of small commercial space (patterned space), which was made by the continuity of concentrated patterns not an object of dualistic unit features. Therefore, this study analyzed the cultural, commercial and public space based upon systematical concept and features. Systematical space formality that makes multilateral relation between human, environment and a thing is a concentrated view point by relational features not by the cluster displayed by hierarchical features. Systematical space of small patterned space emphasized its appropriateness of expansion and creating diversified spaces unlike gigantic symbolic buildings.

Nowadays, housing density in a city is getting higher, and this trend is expected to continue in the future. Therefore, Skyscraper is considered as future alternative architecture beyond symbolic meaning in aspect of demand and supply of urban land. However, skyscrapers which were newly built in Korea have many problems such as consumption of enormous amounts of energy, destruction of natural environment, and traffic jam. And from now on, environment-friendly development of skyscraper is urgently needed. However, plans or evaluation standards, which take account of the environment-friendly aspect of skyscraper, leave much to be desired. And especially it is hard to find environment-friendly skyscrapers. Therefore, this study aims to find realistic alternative solutions of environment-friendly skyscraper through analysis of the works of Ken Yeang who has been known as bio-climatic architect and tried to apply environment-friendly plans to skyscraper.

This paper examines the meaning and significance of the rebirths narrated in Sylvia Plath's "Lady Lazarus." While the previous readings of the poem have regarded the speaker's rebirth as a single event, this paper aims to understand its plurality and the underlying problem of language and sound by listening to the poet's own reading of the poem. I argue first that the sound structure of the poem can be characterized by the poet's unique employment of vowel sounds. Drawing upon Plath's another poem entitled "Morning Song" and Julia Kristeva's concept of the chora, I contend that the poet's vowels signal her desire for regression to the pre-Oedipal space where sound and body are in direct contact without the interference of language. It is my conclusion that the rebirths in "Lady Lazarus" dramatize the poet's ongoing struggle to bypass the symbolic language in order to make her body heard.

Purpose: This paper analyzed the features of Winter Olympics mascots in chronological order by examining the evolution of mascots and presented the attributes of the Winter Olympics mascots from Innsbruck 1976 to Beijing 2022. Research design, data, and methodology: This paper conducted an exploratory study on the thinking to understand the characteristics of 13 Winter Olympics Mascots through literature review. Results: First, the mascot is a fictional character, usually an artificial character that represents the locality of the host city, including animals, human figures, and local inhabitants. Second, Schneemann, Innsbruck 1976 was known as the first official Winter Olympics mascot. Third, 19 mascots out of a total of 24 mascots were created using animals. Conclusions: The six attributes of the Winter Olympics mascots were identified: friendliness, symbolic meaning, originality, diversity, value, and identity of a special location. Above all, Winter Olympics has a locality that includes areas covered with ice and snow. From this point of view, the Olympics mascot highlights the image of snow and ice and the physical environment that includes it.

This study analyzed the shot pattern through the tempo of segmented shot duration and studied the relationship with the unique emotion of the story. The structure of the story was classified into 3 chapters, 17 sequences, 83 scenes, 287 beats, and 1636 shots. Shot density is a method of visualizing tension in visual storytelling, and since it is a result obtained by mathematically calculating the density of divided shots, it can be helpful in designing tension delivered to the audience. Nine shot density patterns were extracted. The ascending(+) type was classified as A, B, C, D, 4, the descending(-) type, E, F, G, H, 4, and the maintenance(/) type, I, 1 type. Based on the spatiality of the 17 stages of Campbell's heroic narrative and McGee's story structure, the narrative level of the tree structure was proposed, and the symbolic meaning of the shot rhythm in the practical aspect of the story function was proposed to present a systematic methodology in the direction of production.

기존의 자연어 의미 표상 방법은 크게 나눠보았을 때 두 가지가 있다. 첫 번째로, 전통적인 기호 기반 의미 표상 방법론이다. 이 방법론들은 논리적이고 해석가능하다는 장점이 있으나, 구축에 시간이 많이 들고 정작 기호 자체의 의미를 더욱 미시적으로 파악하기 어렵다는 단점이 있었다. 반면, 최근 대두된 분산 표상의 경우 단어 하나하나의 의미는 상대적으로 잘 파악하는 반면, 문장 등의 복잡한 구조의 의미를 나타내는 데 있어 상대적으로 약한 측면을 보이며 해석가능하지 않다는 단점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 이 둘의 장점을 섞어서 서로의 단점을 보완하는 새로운 의미 표상을 제안하였으며, 이 표상이 유의미하게 문장의 의미를 담고 있음을 비지도 문장 군집화 문제를 통해 간접적으로 보였다.

The purposes of this study are to review the Chinese traditional patterns and to apply one of them, the Peony Blossom pattern into modern textile designs for fashion For this purpose, first, the categories and symbolic meanings of the patterns existing in the Chinese traditional clothing from literature were reviewed. Second, the Peony Blossom patterns of Chinese traditional patterns from literature were reviewed and selected one of them, Third, authors applied the Peony Blossom pattern to creative textile design which would fit to appetite of people lived in modern society. The results were as follows: The patterns of Chinese traditional clothing could be classified as animal pattern, plant pattern, nature pattern, character pattern, lucky token pattern, geometric pattern and so on. All these patterns contained individual symbolic meaning, which varied according the different wearers. Moreover, it endows a peony blossom pattern of Chinese traditional patterns with modern style and purposes the textile design. The theme of the design is "Luxuriant Outing" with the concept of "Dream in Fantasy". The design target is the female born in the 1980's, that is, the target population between 20 and 30 years old. In addition, it is designed for the romantic one-piece. This paper perceives the national spirit revealed in the Chinese traditional patterns and designs with the combination of traditional culture and modernized technique of expression.
