The earliest of the Cultural forms have utilized different methods of artistic expression and aesthetic senses such as the Tattoo that symbolized the adornment of the human body. when viewing from the perspective of postmodern art and design, these cultural forms were redefined as a regression and intertextuality, a modern interpretation of Henna that had a subversive significance. Specifically, Henna design quickly emerged as a new style in fashion art which represented a postmodern phenomenon. It was introduced as a fashion style in korea about 10years ago. since then, the henna fashion trends is growing rapidly in the domestic market. However, It is growing without our unique identity due to indiscriminate and excessive industrialization. This study of Henna design, (similar to the art of Tattooing) sees from a cultural and regional perspective of orgin. This study interprets henna as a fashion style and analyzes symbolic meaning and aesthetic senses today with a clear definition of henna Design. from now on It's purpose is to establish the Korean Henna culture and the possibility of it being the fashion style that contains a unique atmosphere.

In recent years, various studies about 'Biomorphic design' have been conducted and accelerated among many recent design concepts and methodology. Therefore, this study classifies the types of biomorphic fashion design based on literature review, and select biomorphic fashion designs in the latest fashion designer's collection. This study aimed to determine the types and characteristics of the biomorphic design in fashion design, and analyze the characteristics and the interpreted intrinsic meanings through Greimas Semiotic rectangle model based on the Binary-Opposition of meaning and Isotophy. As the result of analysis, biomorphic designs in fashion are classified as three types: 'representational imitation of form', 'technical imitation of functional features', and 'imitation of symbolic attribute'. 'Representational imitation of form' was derived from an organic design through atypical forms, repetition and extension of figurative forms of nature, and 'the functionalities of the nature' are interpreted as the feature to maintain the condition of the life itself and to attempt to regulate the status of self-autonomy. Lastly, 'the imitation of symbolic attributes' is designing the process of creation, growth, expansion and destruction from circulation of nature.

본 연구는 전통춤에 나타난 대표적인 동물을 나열하여 그것이 상징하는 문화기호학적 표상에 관해 연구함으로써 한국인의 동물숭배사상과 삶의 철학을 의미화하고 한국전통예술의 정체성을 논의해 보았다. 이는 한국 문화와 예술에 관한 근원을 묻고 동물모방의 표상에 대해 문화고유의 철학적 사유를 공감하기 위함이다. 이에 한국의 동물 모방춤은 단순한 문화적 코드를 넘어서 춤에 투영되는 있는 한국인의 예술적 가치인식을 엿볼 수 있었다. 즉 주술과 성적인 은유 뿐 아니라 자연친화적 삶을 통한 순응적 태도와 현실에서의 윤리적 실천을 우선으로 예술적 미의식이 고취됨을 알 수 있었다.

This research analyzed the characteristics of Hanfu street snaps in the Chinese version of TikTok to determine the development and meaning of Hanfu. Based on grounded theory, this study selected 102 representative cases by sorting Hanfu street snaps on TikTok according to popularity. Subsequently, through open coding, the cases were organized and summarized into five main categories. The findings are as follows: 1) The national cultural pride has enabled a greater number of Hanfu fans and groups to upload short videos promoting the Hanfu movement on TikTok to expand the influence of the activities and popularize cultural knowledge. 2) The users attempted cross-cultural communication by participating in cultural festivals in Western countries wearing Hanfu. 3) The 'See now buy now' function of TikTok enables numerous Hanfu merchants to upload short videos about Hanfu products to promote their products and boost sales. 4) As 'gamification' affects everyday life, computer game enthusiasts among them wear Hanfu in the form of role-playing. 5)As a unique "meme" phenomenon on TikTok, wearing Hanfu to make interesting videos has also become a form of entertainment. Thus, although the characteristics of Hanfu street snaps on TikTok originated from the transmission of Hanfu culture, the culture has now been transformed through social media into symbolic consumption and play culture.

This thesis aims to compare the representative costume patterns of the Chinese Qing dynasty and contemporary $18^{th}$ century French costumes. As a research method, qualitative research was performed to compare and analyze the patterns of the flowers, the birds and pagoda shown in Qing dynasty and France. The results are as follows: The Chinese flower patterns used the embroidery technique for 3-step gradation colors to decorate flowers with less than 10 petals. Also, the forms of the flowers were large and simple in China. The flower patterns of the 18th century France is more similar to those of Qing dynasty than to the traditional French flower patterns. They used the drawing technique for the gradation colors and completed the work by embroidery. In the case of bird patterns, the crane on menswear, and the phoenix on women's wear were applied to signify the symbolic feature of the Chinese symbolism. On the other hand, those in France were used solely for the division of the gender. As a result the clear form of the birds in China contrasted with the unclear forms of birds in France. During the influx of mandarine square to France from China, the application of crane and phoenix according to gender seems to be stressed emphatically without considering their symbolic meaning. In light of the pagoda pattern, Qing dynasty showed interest only in the form of pagoda, denoting the simple two-tier structure without detailed description. Whereas in France, the pagodas were three or four tiers, with gorgeous colors and much more detail than those of Qing dynasty. In conclusion, the main determinants of influences on the patterns of France from China would be forms, colors, constructions and technique of embroidery, along with the disregard for symbolic significance.

This paper tried to find out the various symbolic meanings and functions of landscape elements which Capital City of Shilla Dynasty contains, and what is the symbolism and identity of the city. Basically, this research took the thought of the place and the theory of cognition on landscape as a research tool, and undertook the process of surveying the physical surroundings of the city such as mountains, forests, tumuluses, mountain fortress walls, etc. Especially, the study referenced to a myth, thought, and a tale related to them of the surroundings. The research scope in time had been reached to the year of BC 57 which is beginning year of Shilla Dynasty form AC 467 which is year of introduction of new urban block system delivered from Dang Dynasty of ancient China. The results of research showed symbolic meanings of mountains and forests which is surrounding the Shilla capital from 4 directions of east, west, south and north. Namely, it was the places that the king of the kingdom of Shilla decent into the earth from the heaven. Also, the tumuluses which are located on the center of the capital imitated the surrounding mountains in forms, meaned the place that the dead king rised to heaven. All of these symbolized the Capital City of Dynasty as a sacred city which linked the heaven to earth, and earth to heaven. Finally, this paper suggested the Kyongju which is one of the most representative historic and tourist city in Korea should reflect this kind of symbolic meaning of ancient Capital City of Shilla Dynasty in case of arranging the urban identity plan to promote the quality of urban environment of Kyongju.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the various signs seen on TV commercials for school uniforms since year 2000, thus uncovering the connotative meanings in them. For this study, the semiotic approach has been used. The signs seen on the TV commercials are separated into linguistic and visual signs. They are found to have symbolic connotations. The results are as follows: First, there are plenty of signs expressing the sense of belonging to the student group and sense of conformity to his or her peer group. They are intended to garner their collective identity in the peer group of teenagers. Second, the TV commercials express the self that is realizing one's value dynamically. The frequent designation of 'I', 'me' and 'myself' represents that I am at the center of the world. Furthermore, the suggestion of diverse student roles beyond mere academic pursuits symbolically shows the ideal self that most teenagers wish to have. Third, the TV commercials implied a commercial ideology. That is expressed in the emphasis on aesthetic value that teenagers can realize their self only by consuming expensive school uniform brands. Forth, there are many signs related to appearance and appearance care. They are expressed with very specific signs such as 3 : 7 proportion, long legs, small face, and so on. Repeating or emphasizing the importance of looks and a certain brand name as the tool to accomplish better looks indicates that it contains the ideology of appearance management.

This study aims to develop a mechanic embroidery bag design that reflects the symbolic image of Korean independence activists who sacrificed for the country so that today's Korea can exist. As a research method, the theoretical consideration and image collection of independence activists were conducted through a literature review and visits to the memorial halls of six independence activists. The bag design was developed using mechanic embroidery textile of 12 motifs manufactured in previous studies through the computer mechanic embroidery sewing machine, and the types were limited to totes, Boston, clutches, baskets, shoppers, hover bags, and hat boxes. The results of this study are as follows. First, it was found that the dense light and shade and delicate color expression of each motif design were the most important and achieved through the proper selection and utilization of embroidery yarn according to the mechanic embroidery expression technique for developing in-depth textile materials. Second, unlike in the past, when machine embroidery was difficult to handle, the spread of embroidery CAD and computer machine embroidery sewing machines made it easier for individuals to develop embroidery products. Third, this study once again emphasized the symbolism of Korean independence activists who sacrificed for the nation to exist at a time when it needs to be recognized due to the lack of fashion and diversity in cultural products containing historical and cultural meaning and values of the country. This study was able to develop computer machine embroidery textiles and various bag designs using various mechanic embroidery expression techniques that can highlight the symbolic image of each motif.

최고의 대중예술로 보다 더 확고히 자리 잡은 영화 콘텐츠는 지구촌 사회의 문화에 가장 보편적인 내용과 공감대를 바탕으로 트렌드를 반영하는 메인 엔터테인먼트 콘텐츠이다. 그러나 현대영화는 오락성과 자극적 감성에 어필하는 대중의 기호에 보다 민감하기 때문에 예술적 표현의 감상을 통한 지적 쾌감의 기회의 감소는 불가피하며 아쉬울 수밖에 없다. 본 논문에서는 영화 속 쇼트들의 상징적 의미를 분석하여 그 외형 속에 투영된 내면의 본질을 파악케 하며 궁극적으로 표현된 주제 메시지를 도출해내고자 한다. 효과적인 상징 법은 정서를 드러내어 분위기와 무드를 조성하며 인물의 내적 심리 상태 및 의지 등을 잘 표현하면서 깊이 있는 관객과의 소통을 가능케 한다. 이처럼 표면적 이미지의 이면에 존재한 의미를 관객들에게 무의식적으로 전달함으로써 자신이 의도한 메시지를 보다 효과적이고 강하게 전달할 수가 있다. 또한 이를 통해 관객 기대 감성 구도에서 어떤 연상 작용 혹은 아이러니와 이미지의 충돌을 통한 화면 내의 대비 에너지 상승 등의 효과창출도 기대할 수 있다.

본 연구의 목적은 미국에 있는 한국전쟁 메모리얼의 설계요소인 설계개념, 공간적 특성, 조경디테일 및 조각의 특성을 분석하고, 메모리얼에 나타난 기념성을 고찰하는 것이다. 연구를 위해 현장답사, 문헌연구 및 사례연구, 인터넷 검색을 통하여 외부공간 설계가 이루어진 25개의 연구대상지를 선정하였으며, 이를 대상으로 평면도, 위성사진, 관련사진을 수집 하여 분석하였다. 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 한국전쟁 메모리얼에서 나타나는 주요한 개념으로 희생자 추모, 지역 부대 국가의 명예 고양, 집단적 헌신과 정체성 등을 기본으로 하여 전쟁의 의미와 감정, 한국전쟁의 사실적 묘사 및 상징적 표현이 나타났다. 2. 한국전쟁 메모리얼은 기념공원이나 광장의 제한된 부지에 조성되어 독립적인 공간의 완성을 추구하였다. 공간형태 다양하여 원형이나 사각형 형태가 축을 이루는 것이 많이 나타났지만 일부 부정형도 있었으며, 공간적 연속성과 같은 간적 질서가 일부 메모리얼에서 나타났다. 3. 조경디테일은 희생자를 추모하기 위한 요소로서 기념벽과 기념석, 집단의 정체성을 나타내기 위한 기(旗)와 엠블렘 (emblem)이 주로 사용되고 있었다. 또한 한반도 지도 및 태극문양이 한국과 한국전쟁을 상징하기 위해 자주 도입되었으며, 잊혀진 한국전쟁을 기억하고 미군의 한국참전의 타당성과 의미를 나타내고자 'Forgotten War(잊혀진 전쟁)'과 'Freedom is not Free(자유는 거저 얻어지는 것이 아니다)'가 사용되었다. 4. 조각은 기념성을 다양하게 구현하기 위한 중요한 매체로서 활용되었다. 주로 사실적인 조각이 사용되었고, 일부는 추상적 형태를 갖는 것도 있었으며, 한국전쟁을 상징적이고 은유적으로 표현하였다. Washington D.C. 한국전쟁 참전용사 메모리얼(Korean War Veterans Memorial: KWVM)이나 Minnesota 한국전쟁 메모리얼(Korean War Memorial: KWM)의 조각은 현대적인 메모리얼의 상징적 매체로서 뛰어났다. 향후 한국과 미국에 있는 한국전쟁 메모리얼의 비교문화적 연구와 설계양식론 관점에서 메모리얼의 특성에 대한 연구가 필요하다.
