The challenge of penetrating obstacles along with impact from weak multipath effects makes 60GHz signal very difficult to be transmitted in non-line of sight (NLOS) channel. So 60GHz system is vulnerable to obstructions and thus likely results in link interruption. While the application of cooperative technology to solve link blockage problemin 60GHz system should consider the characteristic of directional transmission for 60GHz signal. Therefore in this paper a system is proposed to solve the link blockage problem in 60GHz NLOS communication environment based on the concept of cooperation and also the beamforming technology, which is the basis of directional transmission for 60GHz communication system. The process of anti-blockage solution with cooperative communication is presented in detail, and the fast switching and recovery schemes are well designed. The theoretical values of symbol error rate (SER) using decode and forward (DF) cooperation and amplify and forward (AF) cooperation are presented respectively when the common channel interference exists. Simulation results demonstrate that the performance based on DF cooperation is better than the performance based on AF cooperation when directional transmission is used.

This paper investigates the effect a guard period (GP) in the form of a cyclic prefix for asynchronous multicarrier-code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) systems. At first, we analyze the performance of asynchronous MC-CDMA systems with a GP, which results in closed-form bit error rate (BER) performance. Furthermore, it confirms that the frequency diversity of MC-CDMA systems is identical to the path diversity. The analytical approach proposed here is extended to the case without a GP. The derived analytical results show that a GP is required for MC-CDMA systems in order to mitigate not only the effect of intersymbol interference (ISI) and intercarrier interference (ICI) but also the desired signal power degradation. In addition, the accuracy of the proposed analysis is verified by simulations.

In holographic data storage systems, data is recorded and read by page on a volume of storage medium, and it can increase transmission rate and storage capacity because of two-dimensional page-oriented data processing by charge-coupled devices. However, HDS suffers two-dimensional intersymbol interference unlike conventional data storages. In this paper, we propose a preprocessing method of decreasing ISI before read data in HDS pass to detector. This method has some advantage when we collaborate with the preprocessing for reducing misalignment error and modulation code.

This paper presents a method for obtaining an exact average symbol error rate (ASER) of M-ary Phase Shift Keying (MPSK) for opportunistic amplify-and-forward (OAF) relay systems over Rayleigh fading channels. This is based on the relay selection probability when a relay is selected as the best one with respect to the received signal-to-noise ratio. We then derive the modified moment generating function (MGF) for OAF relay systems by taking the given relay selection probability into consideration. Based on the modified MGF, we derive the exact ASER which accurately explicates OAF relay system characteristics. Our results confirm that the derived ASER provides a tight upper bound for OAF relay systems.
This paper derives and analyzes a novel block fast Fourier transform (FFT) based joint detection algorithm. The paper compares the performance and complexity of the novel block-FFT based joint detector to that of the Cholesky based joint detector and single user detection algorithms. The novel algorithm can operate at chip rate sampling, as well as higher sampling rates. For the performance/complexity analysis, the time division duplex (TDD) mode of a wideband code division multiplex access (WCDMA) is considered. The results indicate that the performance of the fast FFT based joint detector is comparable to that of the Cholesky based joint detector, and much superior to that of single user detection algorithms. On the other hand, the complexity of the fast FFT based joint detector is significantly lower than that of the Cholesky based joint detector and less than that of the single user detection algorithms. For the Cholesky based joint detector, the approximate Cholesky decomposition is applied. Moreover, the novel method can also be applied to any generic multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) system.

Visible light communications (VLC) uses modern solid-state LEDs to broadcast information. Emerging white-light LEDs allows the combination of lighting and optical wireless communication in one optical source. In this paper, a new LED lighting using one-chip-type white LED is proposed for efficient illumination and optical wireless communications. Performance analysis such as horizontal illuminance, 3-dB cut-off frequency, inter-symbol interference, signal-to-noise ratio and bit-error rate shows the effects of the shapes of LED lighting. Performance of the proposed LED lighting under the existence of obstacles is superior to that of the existing LED lighting in illumination and optical wireless communication.

The Blu-ray Disc Recordable-Triple Layer (BD-R TL) media is considered as one of strong candidates for archival application among optical media formats, due to its large capacity. However, the long-term stability and degradation aspect have not been fully understood yet for BD-R TL media. Thus, the BD-R TL media were recorded at full tracks and analyzed by the random-symbol error rate (R-SER) measurement at different recording layers and recording positions after the accelerated aging test to understand its long-term stability. Finally, the general degradation aspect of BD-R TL media was discussed to improve the long-term stability.

This paper investigates the performance of Turbo equalization in wireless multipath channels. Turbo equalization mainly consists of a SISO(soft-in soft-out) equalizer and a SISO decoder. Iterative channel estimators can improve the accuracy of channel estimates by soft information fed back from the SISO decoder. Comparing iterative channel estimators with LMS(least mean square) and RLS(recursive least squares) algorithms, which are the most common algorithms to estimate and track a time-varying channel impulse response, the iterative channel estimator with RLS converges more faster than the one with LMS. However, the difference of BER(bit error rate) performances gradually decreases as the number of iterations for Turbo equalization increases.

In this paper, we have analyzed the performance of synchronization of CCK(Complementary Code Keying) modulation scheme used for IEEE 802.11g wireless LAM system supporting 54 Mbps of high speed data rate over 2.4 GHz. At receiver, the clock frequency offset is caused by noise or fading. This frequency error occurs the offset of clock timing and causes ISI. Therefore the tracking is required to reduce the clock timing offset. The DLL(Delay Lock Loop), asychronization mode, performing tacking the clock is used for the simulation. The simulation result shows jitter variance and BER performance in the AWGN and multipath fading channel environment.

Employing multiple drones as a swarm to complete missions can sharply improve the working efficiency and expand the scope of investigation. Remote UAV swarms utilize satellites as relays to forward investigation information. The increasing amount of data demands higher transmission rate and complex field network coding (CFNC) is deemed as an effective solution for data return. CFNC applied to UAV swarms enhances transmission efficiency by occupying only two time slots, which is less than other network coding schemes. However, conventional CFNC applied to UAVs is combined with constant coding and modulation scheme and results in a waste of spectrum resource when the channel conditions are better. In order to avoid the waste of power resources of the relay satellite and further improve spectral efficiency, a CFNC transmission scheme with MPSK modulation is proposed in this paper. For the proposed scheme, the satellite relay no longer directly forwards information, but transmits information after processing according to the current channel state. The proposed transmission scheme not only maintains throughput advantage of CFNC, but also enhances spectral efficiency, which obtains higher throughput performance. The symbol error probability (SEP) and throughput results corroborated by Monte Carlo simulation show that the proposed transmission scheme improves spectral efficiency in multiples compared to the conventional CFNC schemes. In addition, the proposed transmission scheme enhances the throughput performance for different topology structures while keeping SEP below a certain value.
