충전전압 가변방식을 이용한 펄스형 Nd:YAG 레이저의 출력특성에 관한 연구 (The output characteristics of pulsed Nd:YAG laser with voltage variable capacitor-charging system)

  • The pulsed Nd:YAG laser is used widely for materials processing and medical instrument etc. It is important to control the laser energy in those fields using a pulsed Nd:YAG laser. In this paper, constant-frequency current resonant half-bridge inverter and Cockcroft-Walton circuit are used to charge the energy storage capacitor variably. This laser power supply is designed and fabricated which has no high-voltage transformer, less switching losses, compact size and capability in varying the laser output power. Also, the output characteristics of this Nd:YAG laser system are investigated. The tested results are described.

  • The MRC minimizes a parasitic oscillation using the resonant tank circuit absorbed parasitic reactances existing in a converter circuit. So the converter is capable of operating at a high switching and also reducing the losses. But the resonant voltage stress across a resonant switch is 4-5 times a input voltage. This high voltage stress increases the conduction loss in MOSFET. In this paper, the CM forward MRC with synchronous rectifier and AT forward MRC are compared about efficiency and semiconductor stress. For analysis, we have built a 50W CM forward MRC and a 50W AT forward MRC. in which the input voltage is 48V, output voltage is 5V, each other. The measured voltage stress is about 170V of 2.9 times the input voltage in the AT Forward MRC, about 106V of 1.8 times the input voltage in CM forward MRC, and the efficiency is 81.05% in AT Forward MRC, 83.61% in CM forward MRC.

가혹온도조건에서 DC/DC 변환기 전력손실모델의 실험적 검증 (Experimental Verification of DC/DC Converter Power Loss Model in Severe Temperature Condition)

  • This paper deals with an experimental verification of a temperature-dependent power loss model of a DC/DC converter in severe temperature conditions. The power loss of a DC/DC converter is obtained by summing the losses by the components constituting the converter including switching elements, diodes, inductors, and capacitors. MIL-STD-810F stipulates that any electronic devices must be operable in the temperature ranging from $-50^{\circ}C$ to $70^{\circ}C$. We summarized the temperature-dependent loss models for the converter components. A SEPIC-type converter is designed and built as a target. Using a constant-temperature chamber, a test rig is set up to measure the power loss of the converter. The experimental results confirm the validity of the loss model within 4.5% error. The model can be useful to predict the efficiency of the converter at the operating temperature, and to provide guidelines in order to improve the efficiency.

  • when electric traction system used DC 1500V runs on decline of rail road track and slows down, Dc voltage goes beyond regular voltage. In this case extra power is forcibly wasted by resister because rectifier of substation and electric train including power converter and so on are out of order. This paper described a DC electric railway system, which can generate the excessive DC power form DC bus line to AC source in substation for traction system. The proposed regeneration inverter system for DC traction can be used as both an inverter and an active power filter(APF). As a regeneration inverter mode, it can recycle regenerative energy caused by decelerating tractions and as an active power filter mode, it can compensate for harmonic distortion produced by the rectifier substation. In addition, electric traction system products harmonic current and voltage distortion and reactive power because power converter is used so regeneration inverter normally runs such as active power filter(APF) for improving power quality. From the viewpoint of both power capacity and switching losses, the system is designed on the basis of three phase PWM inverters and composed of parallel inverters, output transformers, and an LCL filter.

  • Recently, standby power reduction techniques of AC/DC adaptor were developed, consuming power almost arrived to 300mW level. The standby power losses are composed of the input filter loss 11.8mW, the control IC for AC/DC adaptor 18mW, the switching loss 9.53mW and the feedback loss 123mW. And there are the standby power reduction techniques. In this paper, in order to reduce the standby power of SMPS more, the loss due to a voltage difference between input and output is reduced by the control circuit which is composed of the low voltage driving circuit and voltage regulator. The low voltage driving circuit operates on the low voltage of input and off the high voltage. The low voltage driving IC was produced by the $1.0{\mu}m$, high voltage DMOS process.

  • A new multi-output LLC resonant converter is proposed for high efficiency and low cost plasma display panel (PDP) power module. In the proposed converter, zero-voltage (ZV) turn-on of the primary MOSFETs and zero-voltage (ZC) turn-on and turn-off of the secondary diodes are guaranteed in the overall input voltage and output load ranges. In addition, the primary MOSFETs and the secondary diodes have the low voltage stresses clamped to input and the output voltages, respectively. Therefore, the proposed converter shows the high efficiency due to the minimized switching and conduction losses. Moreover, by employing the transformer with multiple secondary windings, the proposed converter can have multiple outputs, which show the great crossregulation characteristics. Therefore, the proposed converter is suitable for high efficiency and low cost PDP power module.

  • PWM 모드로 동작하는 전류형 인버터(CSI)는 구형파 제어형 CSI에 비해 구조가 복잡하여 가격이 비싸지고 공진발생 가능성이 크며 스위칭 손실, EMI등에 의해 동작 효율이 낮다. 그러나 구형파 제어모드의 CSI는 출력전류에 저차 고조파가 다량으로 함유되어 있기 때문에 모터의 토크 맥동이 발생된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 CSI구동 유도 모터의 토크 맥동을 감소하기 위해, CSI와 유도모터 사이에 능동전력필터를 설피하여 유도모터의 입력전류에 함유되어 있는 고조파 성분을 보상하는 시스템을 제안하였다. 고조파를 보상하기 위한 알고지름으로는 연산과정에 전압이 필요치 않는 노치 필터법을 사용하였으며 PSIM 시뮬레이션에 의해 제안된 시스템의 타단성을 입증할 수 있었다.

A Three-Phase High Frequency Semi-Controlled Battery Charging Power Converter for Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles

  • This paper presents a novel analysis, design, and implementation of a battery charging three-phase high frequency semi-controlled power converter feasible for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. The main advantages of the proposed topology include high efficiency; due to lower power losses and reduced number of switching elements, high output power density realization, and reduced passive component ratings proportionally to the frequency. Additional advantages also include grid economic utilization by insuring unity power factor operation under different possible conditions and robustness since short-circuit through a leg is not possible. A high but acceptable total harmonic distortion of the generator currents is introduced in the proposed topology which can be viewed as a minor disadvantage when compared to traditional boost rectifiers. A hysteresis control algorithm is proposed to achieve lower current harmonic distortion for the rectifier operation. The rectifier topology concept, the principle of operation, and control scheme are presented. Additionally, a dc-dc converter is also employed in the rectifier-battery connection. Test results on 50-kHz power converter system are presented and discussed to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed topology for PHEV applications.

GaN FET 기반 동기정류기를 적용한 저전압-대전류 DC-DC Converter 효율예측 (A Study on the Efficiency Prediction of Low-Voltage and High-Current dc-dc Converters Using GaN FET-based Synchronous Rectifier)

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze losses because of switching devices and the secondary side circuit diodes of 500 W full bridge dc-dc converter by applying gallium nitride (GaN) field-effect transistor (FET), which is one of the wide band gap devices. For the detailed device analysis, we translate the specific resistance relation caused by the GaN FET material property into algebraic expression, and investigate the influence of the GaN FET structure and characteristic on efficiency and system specifications. In addition, we mathematically compare the diode rectifier circuit loss, which is a full bridge dc-dc converter secondary side circuit, with the synchronous rectifier circuit loss using silicon metal-oxide semiconductor (Si MOSFET) or GaN FET, which produce the full bridge dc-dc converter analytical value validity to derive the final efficiency and loss. We also design the heat sink based on the mathematically derived loss value, and suggest the heat sink size by purpose and the heat divergence degree through simulation.

고속의 패킷 교환망에서 패킷 손실율을 최소화하기 위한 경로 제어 알고리즘 (A Routing Algorithm for Minimizing Packet Loss Rate in High-Speed Packet-Switched Networks)

  • 고속의 패킷 교환망에서 최적 경로 제어 문제(ORP: Optical Routing Poblem)를 해결하기 위해 gradient projection (GP) 기법을 적용하였따. 망 평균 패킷의 손실율을 최소화하는 ORP는 교환 노드들에서 패킷들이 손실됨으로써 non-convex가 되어, GP 알고리즘에 의해서는 그 경로해를 직접 구할 수가 없다. 따라서, 이 non-convex ORP를 reduced ORP (R-ORP)라 불리는 convex 문제로 변형시킨후, 그 경로해를 구하고자 GP 알고리즘을 이용하였다. 컴퓨터 모의 실험에 의해서는 R-ORP를 통해 얻어진 경로해가 원래 ORP의 최적 경로해에 아주 근사함을 보여준다. 또한 ORP 와 R-ORP들을 통해 얻어진 두 경로해간의 차이에 있어서의 이론적인 상한이 유도된다.
