  • This paper shows the structure of a control System for Fluorescent fin Dimming Ballasts. The control system is composed of phase angle controller, a transducer, many dimmable ballasts. For the implementation of the control system, We made a controller and the transducer that transform the phase angle controlled signal into the DC level. we used the conventional dimmable ballast In this ballast, dimming control is achieved by varying the switching frequency that is controlled by the external DC level. This has non-linear illumination characteristics as the dimming control. Therefore we compensate characteristics using the transducer proposed in this paper. We measured the illumination of two FL-28 lamps with dimming controller.

  • Switched Reluctance Motors(SRMs) have a considerable inherent torque ripple due to the driving characteristics of pulse current waveform and the nonlinear variation inductance profile. This paper describes a current shape characteristics to effect a torque ripple reduction, and one pulse mode switching control method is proposed to minimize torque ripple of a switched reluctance motor regardless of speed and load condition by regulating tow parameters, such as, advance angle and exciting voltage. The experiments are performed to verify the capability of proposed switching method on 6/4 salient type SRM.

  • The goal of this paper is optimal switching angle of switched reluctance motor drive system for maximum energy ratio. A new magnetizing method with a low-frequency increasing the energy conversion ratio that is related to the efficiency of motor is proposed. As results, it improved the efficiency about $2[\%]$. And a torque ripple is also sufficiently reduced compared with that of the conventional switching angle magnetizing approach. In order to start softly regardless of a large ripple torque, the profile of phase current is predicted by the ANFIS, and current control mode was adapted when it is operated under the starting speed. Variable implementations on the fields will guarantee the more practical drive system.

  • The control of the SRM(Switched Reluctance Motor) is usually based on the non-linear inductance profiles with positions. So determination of optimal switching angle is very different. This paper proposed that the determination method of turn-on/off angle in the SRM drives is to maintain the high torque, which is realized by using self-tuning control method. During the sampling time, a number of pulses from the encoder are checked by using micro-controller. And compared with pre-checked a number of pulses. After calculating difference between two data, turn-on/off angle moves forward or backward direction by using self-tuning method. The optimal turn-on/off angle is determined by iterating such a process and the maximum torque is maintained. Experimental results are provided to demonstrate the validity of the self-tuning controller.

  • A thyristor controlled shunt compensator, which is installed in the middle of the transmission line is adopted for controlling real power flow in a simple power transmission system. By means on the Fourier series representation of the thyristor switching action and the system parameters, the thyristor current equations are derived, which transmit the required real power of the simple power transmission system and inform the thyristor firing angle, the thyristor conduction angle, the power flows and the harmonic characteristics EMTP simulations at the various operating points show the dynamic characteristics of the thyristor controlled shunt compensator and correspond to the results calculated with the Fourier series representation.

  • In switched reluctance motor(SRM) drive, it is important to synchronize the stator phase excitation with the rotor position; therefore, the information about rotor position is essential. Generally, optical encoders or resolvers are used to provide the information. However, these sensors are expensive and are not suitable for high-speed operation. The accuracy of the switching angles is dependent upon the resolution of the encoder and the sampling period of the microprocessor. In the high-speed region, switching angles are fluctuated back and forth out of the preset value, which is caused by the sampling period of the microprocessor. In this paper, a low cost linear encoder suitable far the practical and stable SRM drive is proposed and also the control algorithm to generate the switching signals using a simple digital logic is presented. The validity of the proposed linear encoder with a proper logic controller is verified through the experiments.

  • This paper represent improved on-line turn off angle control schemes for switched reluctance motors based on current control. For the purpose of finding the optimal commutation switching angle point with improved controller, it is utilized turn on and turn off position calculation with inductance vs. current vs. not linkage analysis method. The goal of proposed paper is the maximization of the energy conversion per stroke and torque ripple reduction and obtaining approximately flat-topped current waveform. The proposed control scheme is demonstrated simulation and on a prototype experimental system.

  • This paper describes a study on the series resonant inverter using the double full-bridge, and the output voltage of the proposed inverter is controlled by phase shift angle of the outputs of two inverters. These control schemes can be reduce the switching loss and EMI, etc, which the inverter is drived by auto following control of output frequency, because it is impossible for switching devices to be always turned on and off at zero voltage or zero current. Theoretical characteristics of the proposed double inverter circuit are compared with Pspice simulation and experimental results.

  • In this abstract a novel control scheme of voltage-source PWM rectifiers using only dc-side sensors is proposed. The phase currents are reconstructed from switching states of the rectifier and the dc output current. For effective current control the currents are estimated by a predictive state observer. Also both the phase angle and the magnitude of th source voltage are estimated by phase estimator and magnitude estimator respectively. The validity of the proposed ac sensorless technique is verified by experimental results.
