In this paper, interleaved boost converter is applied as a first-stage converter in switch mode power supply. The first-stage converter plays a role to improve power factor. Interleaved Boost Power Factor Corrector(IBPFC) can reduce input current ripple as a single voltage control loop only without inner current loop, because input current is divided each 50% by two switching devices. Each converter cell is also operated in discontinuous current mode and inductor current of each converter is discontinuous. Total input current which is composed by each converter cell is continuous current. Thus, IBPFC is able to improve input current ripple. IBPFC operating in discontinuous current mode can be classified as six modes from switching state and be carried out state space averaging small signal modeling. A control transfer function is obtained according to the modeling. Not only steady-state characteristics but also dynamic characteristics is considered. Single voltage control loop is also constructed by the control transfer function. From experimental result, improvement of power factor and input current ripple are verified.

A 900MHz CMOS RF power amplifier with digitally controllable output power has been proposed and designed with 0.6${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ standard CMOS technology. The designed power amplifier was composed of digitally controllable switch mode pre-amplifiers with an integrated 4nH spiral inductor load and class-C output stage. Especially, to compensate the 1ow Q of integrated spiral inductor, cascode amplifier with a Q-enhancement circuit is used. It has been shown that the proposed power control technique allows the output power to change from almost 3dBm to 13.5dBm. And it has a maximum PAE(Power Added Efficiency) of almost 55% at 900MHz operating frequency and 3V power supply voltage.

DC/DC Switching power converters are commonly used to generate regulated DC output voltages with high-power efficiencies from different DC input sources. A switching converter utilizes one or more energy storage elements such as capacitors, or transformers to efficiently transfer energy from the input to the output at periodic intervals. The fundamental boost converter studied here consists of a power metal-oxide semiconductor field effect transistor switch, an inductor, a capacitor, a diode, and a pulse-width modulation circuit with oscillator, amplifier, and comparator. A buck converter containing a switched-mode power supply is also studied. In this paper, the electrical characteristics of DC/DC power converters are simulated by simulation program with integrated circuit emphasis (SPICE). Furthermore, power efficiency was analyzed based on the specifications of each component.

This paper presents a highly efficient power management system for UAV-drones. For free from the battery cell-balancing issue, the proposed system allows the drone to utilize a single-cell Li-Po battery. To realize low-voltage input of 3.7V, the switch-mode step-up DC-DC converter is optimally designed with high power efficiency. The prototype DC-DC converter was implemented with an output voltage of 5V, which will be provided to digital parts of the drone. The power efficiency was measured to be max. 91.3% with low surface temperature. The measured line and load regulations were 0.02V/V and 0.15V/A, respectively. Thanks to the proposed power management system, the available time-to-fly of the drone is expected to be significantly extended in virtue of the enhanced power efficiency.
This paper presents a flyback technology in power conversion aimed at increasing efficiency and power density, reducing cost and using minimum components in AC-DC conversion. The proposed converter provides these features for square waveforms and constant frequency PWM. It is designed to operate in a wide input voltage range of 75-265VAC RMS with two output voltages of 5V and 20V respectively and full load output power of 5W. The proposed converter is suitable for high efficiency and high power density application such as LCDs, TV power modules, AC adapters, motor control, appliance control, telecom and networking products.
Switching Mode Power Supply(SMPS) is widely used in many industrial fields. Power factor improvement and harmonic reduction technique are very important in SMPS. In this paper, we propose the circuit applied Flying Capacitor Snubber for improving power factor of boost converter on fast switching state. Snubber circuit consists of a inductor, two diodes and a capacitor. The losses of switching are reduced by inserting a snubber inductor in the series path of the boost switch and the rectifier diode to control the di/dt rate of the rectifier during it's turn-off. Prior to actual experiment, the circuit analysis Is implemented by PSPICE simulation.
This paper describes a clock and data recovery (CDR) circuit that supports dual data rates of 2.7Gbps and 1.62Gbps for DisplayPort standard. The proposed CDR has a dual mode voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) that changes the operating frequency with a "Mode" switch control. The chip has been implemented using $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process. Measured results show the circuit exhibits peak-to-peak jitters of 37ps(@2.7Gbps) and 27ps(@1.62Gbps) in the recovered data. The power dissipation is 80mW at 2.7Gbps rate from a 1.8V supply.
This paper deals with the characteristics of persistent current switch (rCS) system fer applied HTS magnet system. To apply the high-Tc superconductor in superconducting machine such as motror, generator, MAGLEV, MRI, and NMR, the study on high-Tc superconducting persistent current mode must be performed. In this experiment, the PCS system consists otd superconducting magnet, PCS and magnet power supply. The superconducting magnet was fabricated by connecting four double pancake coils (DPCs) in series. The PCS was inductive double pancake coil type and heated up by the SUS 303L tape heater. The optimal length of PCS was calculated and thermal quench state of PCS was simulated by using finite element method(FEM) and compared with experimental results. The optimal energy to normalize the PCS was calculated and introduced. Finally, the persistent current was observed with respect to various ramping up rate and magnitude of charging current.
This paper presents the design and the application of a new self-powered hybrid electromagnetic damper that can harvest energy while mitigating the vibration of a structure. The damper is able to switch between an energy harvesting passive mode and a semi-active mode depending on the amount of energy harvested and stored in the battery. The energy harvested in the passive mode resulting from the suppression of vibration is employed to power up the monitoring and electronic components necessary for the semi-active control. This provides a hybrid control capability that is autonomous in terms of its power requirement. The proposed hybrid circuit design provides two possible options for the semi-active control: without energy harvesting and with energy harvesting. The device mechanism and the circuitry that can drive this self-powered electromagnetic damper are described in this paper. The parameters that determine the device feasible force-velocity region are identified and discussed. The effectiveness of this hybrid damper is evaluated through a numerical simulation study on vibration mitigation of a bridge stay cable under wind excitation. It is demonstrated that the proposed hybrid design outperforms the passive case without external power supply. It is also shown that a broader force range, facilitated by decoupled passive and semi-active modes, can improve the vibration performance of the cable.
In this paper presents a new model of dual-mode synchronous buck converter with dynamic control for mobile applications was proposed. The proposed circuit can operate at 2.5MHz with supply voltage 2.5V to 5V for low ripple and minimum inductor and capacitor size, which is suitable for single-cell lithium-ion battery supply mobile applications. For high efficiency, the proposed circuit adopts synchronous type and dynamic control. The proposed circuit is designed by using the device parameter of TSMC 0.18um BCD process and the performance is evaluated by Cadence spectre. Experimental board level results show the maximum conversion efficiency is 96% at 100mA load current.
