In this paper, we consider the broadcast switch architecture for hish performance multicast packet switching. In input and output buffered switch, we propose a new switch architecture which supports high throughput in broadcast packet switching with switch planes of single input and multiple output crossbars. The proposed switch architecture has a central arbiter that arbitrates requests from plural input ports and generates multiple grant signals to multiple output ports in a packet transmission slot. It provides high speed pipelined arbitration and large scale switching capacity.

An underground electric switch is a high-voltage switch used in distribution network systems for a reliable power supply. Many studies are being conducted to expand the switch to use an eco-friendly gas using dry air instead of SF6 gas to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In this study, a flow analysis model was established to improve the performance of an eco-friendly gas switch. The results were compared and reviewed through experiments. For the optimal arc grid design applied to the switch, the flow characteristics based on the flow path configuration and the changes in arcing time for each configuration were compared. Flow analysis can predict the switch flow distribution, and a comparative review of the flow path configurations of various methods is possible.
Most Nanosatellites are launched in nanosatellite deployers. Nanosatellites in the deployer are turned off during launch, and they start boot sequence after deploying at their mission orbit. For this reason, nanosatellites must have deployment switch. Most of the nanosatellite deployment switch has two part, first is electric switch to boot the satellite system and second is mechanical assembly to push the switch. In most cases, electric switches are installed in the satellite main body, and the switch operations are translated via the mechanical assembly. These implementations are mechanically complicated and hard to guarantee the appropriate operation without the problems due to friction between pusher and satellite structure. This paper proposes the another implementation method of deployment switch for nanosatellites by installing the electric switch outside the main body without any kind of mechanical parts.

It is important to consider the life of battery and low power operation for various wireless communications. Thus, Analog current-mode signal processing with SI circuit has been taken notice of in designing the LSI for wireless communications. However, in current mode signal processsing, current memory circuit has a problem called clock-feedthrough. In this paper, we examine the connection of CMOS switch that is the common solution of clock-feedthrough and calculate the relation of width between CMOS switch for design methodology for improvement of current memory. As a result of simulation, when the width of memory MOS is 20um, ratio of input current and bias current is 0.3, the width relation in CMOS switch is obtained with $W_{Mp}=5.62W_{Mn}+1.6$, for the nMOS width of 2~6um in CMOS switch. And from the same simulation condition, it is obtained with $W_{Mp}=2.05W_{Mn}+23$ for the nMOS width of 6~10um in CMOS switch. Then the defined width relation of MOS transistor will be useful guidance in design for improvement of current memory.

The objective of this study is to evaluate the operator performance relating to hand switches with two or three buttons in the main control rooms of nuclear power plants. Based on the comparative analysis of the nuclear power plants, two different subjective workload-rating scales were used to evaluate the performance of 48 operators: the Overall Workload(OW) and National Aeronautics and Space Administration Task Load Index (NASA TLX). The survey questions consisting of the eight-items were asked to evaluate the operating experiences for the two different switch types. The OW scales ratings were applied to measure the workload of the switch-related tasks. The ratings revealed that signal detection tasks caused less workload in the three-buttoned-switch operators than the other switch group. However, in the switch operation tasks, the switch types did not show statistically significant effects on workload level. The NASA TLX scale ratings were performed based on detailed task scenarios that assumed the accident of small break loss of coolant, what we call, the small LOCH. The NASA TLX was administered to three different task groups: the reactor, the turbine, and the electric operator groups. Based on the NASA TLX, the two-buttoned switch groups showed higher workload than those with the three-buttoned switches. However, a statistically significant difference was found only in the reactor operator groups. When the current switch type was assumed to be changed for the other type, all of the three-buttoned switch groups were predicted to have higher workload than the other switch groups, respectively. The implications of these findings were discussed.
In this paper, we propose ATM switch architecture including ALL type 2 switch which can efficiently transmit low-bit rate data, even if the network has many endpoints. We simulate the architecture of ATM switch fabric that is modeled in computer program and analyze the performance according to offered loads. ATM switch proposed in this paper can support cell switching for all types of m cells which consist of ALL type 1. ALL type 2, ALL type 3/4 and ALL type 5 cells. We propose two switch fabric methods; One supports the ALL type 2 cell processing per input port, the other global ALL type 2 cell processing for every input port. The simulation results show that the latter is superior to the former. But the former has a merit for easy implementation and extensibility. In this paper, the AAL Type 2 switch module which adapts the former method is designed using VHDL language and implemented in FPGA chip. The designed AAL Type 2 switch module operates at 52MHz. The proposed ATM switch fabric is widely applicable to mobile communication, narrow band services over ATM network and wireless ATM as well as general ATM switching fabric.
To reduce the chattering errors of reed switch sensors used for automatic remote measurement of water supply system, a reed switch sensor was analyzed and improved. The operation of reed switch sensors can be described as a mechanical contact by approximation of permanent magnet piece to generate an electrical pulse. The reed switch sensors are used in measurement application by detecting the rotational or translational displacement. To apply for flow measurement devices, the reed switch sensors should keep high reliability. They are applied for the electronic digital type of water flow meters. The reed switch sensor is just installed simply on the mechanical type flow meter. A small magnet is attached on a pointer of the water meter counter rotor. Inside the reed sensor, two steel leaf springs make mechanical contact and apart as rotation of flow meter counter. The counting electrical contact pulses can be converted as the water flow amount. The MCU sends the digital flow rate data to the server using the wireless communication network. But it occurs data difference or errors by chattering noise. The reed switch sensor contains chattering error by it self at the force equivalent position. The vibrations such as passing car near to the switch sensor installed location. In order to reduce chattering error, most system uses just software methods for example using filter and also statistical calibration methods. The chattering errors were reduced by changing leaf spring structure using mechanical hysteresis characteristics.

This paper presents the understandings carried out for the installation of the hydrogen reservoir of the multi-gap pseudospark switch under developing for the accelerator applications. As a cold cold cathode switch, the pseudospark switch could replace the thyratron switch which has hot cathode and being used well currently in the high power field such as laser and accelerator applications. Especially in the klystron modulator, the key component is a switch which mostly defines the jitter and the instability of the modulator system. To get the less jitter and the instability, we need to find proper range of the pressure for the gas discharge inside gas switch. This could be achieved by the understanding of the characteristic of the nonevaporable getter (NEG) which is used as a hydrogen reservoir for the switch. Therefore we verified the characteristics of the NEG (St 172, Saes) and its installation in the switch. Finally we controlled the getter to find best pressure point for the pseudospark switch.
The design, modeling and measurement of RF switch module for GSM applications is presented in this paper. RF switch module is constructed using a LTCC multi-layer switching circuit and integrated low pass filter. Insertion and return loss of the low pass filter were designed less than 0.3 dB and better than 12.7 dB at 900 MHz. The RF switch module contained 10 embedded passives and 3 surface mount components integrated on $4.6{\times}4.8{\times}1.2$ mm, 6-layer multi-layer integrated circuit. The insertion loss of switch module was measured at 900 MHz was 11 dB.
The 3 way segmented Maglev switch is developed for the urban Maglev vehicle, which is scheduled to debut at the middle of 2013 in Incheon International Airport. The 3 way switch is composed of 3 moving girders, 4 fixed girders, driving units, moving units, clamping units and articulated angle relieving equipment etc. In this paper, the measured results on the interaction between vehicle and switch are discussed. The measured results are following; First, continuous moving test and natural frequency for girder and levitation rail. Second, levitation and lateral air gap of the bogies running on the curved switch. Third, noise of moving mechanical parts of the 3 way segmented switch. Forth, thermal displacement of the girder due to temperature change. With over the measured results, more reliability and stability of the 3 way segmented switch are secured.
