액체금속이 첨가된 온도 감응성 poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) 하이드로젤의 전기적 특성 변화 고찰 (Liquid Metal Enabled Thermo-Responsive Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)Hydrogel for Reversible Electrical Switch)

  • Hydrogels have gained considerable attention in various fields due to their easily transformative ability by different stimulation. In addition, metal-based conductive additives can enable the hydrogels to be conductive with dimension change. Although the development of the additives offered enhanced electrical properties to the hydrogels, correspondingly enhanced mechanical properties may limit the volume and electrical properties switching after stimulation. Here we prepared poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) thermo-responsive hydrogel that has a 32℃ of low critical solution temperature and added liquid metal particles (LMPs) as conductive additives, possessing soft and stretchable benefits. The LMPs enabled PNIPAM (PNIPAM/LMPs) hydrogels to be constricted over 32℃ with a high volume switching ratio of 15.2 when deswelled. Once the LMPs are spontaneously oxidized in hydrogel culture, the LMPs can release gallium ions into the hydrogel nature. The released gallium ions and oxidized LMPs enhanced the modulus of the PNIPAM/LMPs hydrogel, triggering high mechanical stability during repeated swelling/deswelling behavior. Lastly, highly constricted PNIPAM/LMPs hydrogel provided a 5x106 of electrical switching after deswelling, and the switching ratio was closely maintained after repeated swelling/deswelling transformation. This study opens up opportunities for hydrogel use requiring thermo-responsive and high electrical switching fields.

열차폐 코팅의 TGO 성장과 형상비에 따른 TC-BC-TGO 계면에서의 잔류응력 변화에 대한 유한요소해석 (Numerical Simulation of Effects of TGO Growth and Asperity Ratio on Residual Stress Distributions in TC-BC-TGO Interface Region for Thermal Barrier Coatings)

  • The residual stresses in the interface region of the Thermal Barrier Coating (TBC)/Thermally Grown Oxide (TGO)/Bond Coat (BC) were calculated on the TBC-coated superalloy samples using a Finite Element Method (FEM). It was found that the stress distribution of the interface boundary was dependent upon mainly the geometrical shape or its aspect ratio and the thickness of TGO layer, which was formed by growth and swelling behavior of oxide layer. Maximum compressive residual stress in the TBC/TGO interface is higher than that of the TGO/bond coat interface, and the tensile stress had nothing to do with change of an aspect ratio. The compressive residual stresses in the TBC/TGO and TGO/bond coat interface region increased gradually with the TGO growth.

  • The U-Zr metallic alloy with low swelling HT9 cladding is the candidate for the KALIMER fuel rod. The fuel rod should be able to maintain the structural integrity during its lifetime in the reactor. In a typical metallic fuel rod, load is mainly applied by internal gas pressure, and the deformation is primarily caused by creep of the cladding. The three-dimensional FEM modelling of a fuel rod is important to predict the structural behavior in concept design stage. Using the ANSYS code, the 3-D structure analyses were performed for various configuration, element and loads. It has been shown that the present analysis model properly evaluate the structural integrity of fuel rod. The present analysis results show that the fuel rod is expected to maintain its structural integrity during normal operation.

  • Geosynthetic Clay Liners (GCLs) have been used for the applications of the hydraulic containment system in landfill due to inexpensive costs, simple workability and distinguished ability as a barrier material. However, bentonite of GCLs is easy to be damaged by the chemical solutions. Thus, there is a need to evaluate the potential susceptibility of GCLs causing Increase the hydraulic conductivity when GCLs are exposed to raw leachate and dissolved humic substances from landfill leachate. The hydraulic conductivity tests were performed with flexible-wall permeameter (the falling -headwater/rising -tailwater procedure) in order to verify the potential susceptibility of GCLs. The values of the hydraulic conductivity conducted with raw leachate as a permeant liquid increased considerably; however, The change of the hydraulic conductivity in the case of humic and fulvic acid were not worthy of notice. As the results of swelling tests of bentonite, however, humic substances can affect badly on the dispersion behavior of bentonite. These results indicate that humic substances dissolved in leachate could reduce the hydraulic conductivity of GCLs in landfill.

Glandular odontogenic cyst in the posterior mandible: A case report

  • The glandular odontogenic cyst (GOC) is a rare cyst derived from odontogenic epithelium with a spectrum of characteristics including salivary gland features. It occurs more commonly in the mandible and most often in the anterior mandible. Radiographically, most cases present a well-defined unilocular or multilocular radiolucency with a cortical boundary. Despite no unique or pathognomonic clinical or radiographic features, the lesion shows potentially aggressive behavior. A 76-year-old male was referred to Gangneung-Wonju National University Dental Hospital with a chief complaint of slight swelling of the right mandible. Cone-beam computed tomography examination revealed a unilocular radiolucent lesion involving impacted third molar at the right posterior mandible. Slight lingual cortical thinning with suspected perforation was also shown. Histopathologically, multiple areas of cyst epithelium showed a glandular differentiation, resulting in mucoid-filled secretory cells and microcyst. Based on these findings, the final diagnosis was determined to be GOC.

  • This is a widespread requirement for low cost lightweight thermal imaging sensors for both military and civilian applications. Today, a large number of uncooled infrared detector developments are under progress due to the availability of silicon technology that enables realization of low cost IR sensor. System prices are continuing to drop, and swelling production volume will soon drive process substantially lower. The feasibility of micromechanical optical and infrared (IR) detection using microcantilevers is demonstrated. Microcantilevers provide a simple Structurefor developing single- and multi-element sensors for visible and infrared radiation that are smaller, more sensitive and lower in cost than quantum or thermal detectors. Microcantilevers coated with a heat absorbing layer undergo bending due to the differential stress originating from the bimetallic effect. This paper reports a micromachined silicon uncooled thermal imager intended for applications in automated process control. This paper presents the design, fabrication, and the behavior of cantilever for thermomechanical sensing.

  • An extremely unusual case of epidermoid cyst showing diffuse parakeratosis and aggressive clinical behavior is presented. A destructive bone lesion with surrounding ill-defined soft tissue lesion was found by computed tomography in a 63 year-old man complaining of painful swelling of the right buttock. He had a history of surgical excision twice for epidermoid cysts of soft tissue of the right hip during recent one year On aspiration cytology, the aspirate was highly cellular and mostly composed of desquamated nucleated squamous cells. Operation finding revealed that the iliac bone was Irregularly destroyed and filled with gray-white cheesy material and necrotic bone bedris. Adjacent gluteus muscle showed scattered gray-white lesions. The curettage specimen showed bone necrosis and desquamated squamous cells filling the marrow spaces. The lesion within muscle revealed epidermoid cyst with diffuse parakeratosis.

  • Poly(vinyl alcohol)(PVA) and hyaluronic acid(HA) hydrogel membranes were prepared with varying HA contents from 10 to 50 wt% of PVA. The water contents of the resulting PVA-HA hydrogel membranes in various pH conditions were measured. And the permeation coefficient of indomethacin was determined using several PVA-HA hydrogel membranes at various pH conditions and also 37$^{\circ}C$.

압전수정결정판 위에 적층된 금속-Palmitate Langmuir-Blodgett 막의 팽창거동 및 수화수 (Swelling Behavior and Hydration Number of Langmuir-Blodgett Films of Metal-Palmitate Deposited on a Piezoelectric Quartz Crystal Plate)

  • Calcium-palmitate의 단분자막을 압전수정결정 위에 Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) 기법으로 적층시켜 수정판의 진동수 변화로부터 LB막의 적층수를 평가할 수 있었다. 바탕용액에 Ca$^{2+}C$ 이온을 포함하는 palmitic acid(PA) 단분자막으로부터 이전 및 적층된 LB막 물질을 적외선 분광분석을 한 결과 1704 cm$^{-1}C$에서 갈라진 흡수띠가 나타나는 것으로 보아 calcium palmitate가 형성되었음을 알 수 있었다. 1580cm$^{-1}C$과 1540cm$^{-1}C$의 두 흡수띠는 각각 calcium carboxylate기의 비대칭 신축진동과 carboxylate가 수화되어 대칭강하된 것으로 확인되었다$^1$. 이사실은 X-선 회절분석에 의해서도 확인되었다. 23$^{\circ}C$ 물 속에서 LB막의 팽윤거동을 LB막이 적층된 수정진동판의 진동수 변화로부터 관측되었다. Calcium palitate LB막은 충분히 팽윤이 되었으나 hexadecanol LB막은 거의 팽윤이 되지 않았다. Calcium palmitate LB막 팽창량은 무게비로 건조 LB막의 47${\%}$였으며 calcium palmitate 단위 분자당 7개의 물분자가 결합되었다. Calcium palmitate 건조 LB막의 화학적 구조는 [CH$_3$(CH$_2$)$_{14}$COO]$_2$Ca${\cdot}$XH$_2$O이고 수화수는 1 H$_2$O였다.

난류 미분탄화염 내 입자거동에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Particle Behavior in Turbulent Pulverized Coal Flame)

  • 비접촉법으로 유동장이나 온도, 화학종 농도의 계측이 가능한 레이저 응용 계측기술은 연소 메카니즘의 해명뿐만 아니라 수치해석 결과의 정당성을 입증하는 수단으로 최근 주목받고 있다. 본 연구에서는 레이저 도플러 유속계와 쉐도우 도플러 입자 분석계를 이용하여 난류 미분탄 화염 내 입자거동에 대하여 관찰하였다. 버너는 여러 광학계측을 용이하게 하기 위하여 대기개방형으로 하였으며, 실험실 규모의 안정된 난류 미분탄화염이 형성 가능한 소형 모델버너를 제작 하였다. 그 결과 미분탄 입자의 평균입경은 연소과정이 진행함에 따라 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다. 이러한 원인은 다수의 소입경의 미분탄 입자가 휘발분을 방출하여 연소반응에 의해 소실되기 때문이다. 또한 화염 중심부에서 미분탄 입자의 속도장은 입경의 크기에 크게 의존하지 않지만, 화염 외주부에서의 미분탄 입자의 속도장은 입경에 크게 의존하고 있음을 알 수 있다.
