In this paper, we propose a new reliable multicast MAC protocol over the IEEE 802.11-based tactical ad hoc networks. The major contribution compared to the previous reliable multicast schemes using consecutive CTSs/ACKs is that the proposed scheme can send multiple CTS/ACK messages concurrently assisted by MC-DS/CDMA mechanisms. When multiple receivers receive the RTS/DATA message from a sender, they respond with the CTS/ACK message spread with pre-assigned code in the same time interval. The proposed scheme can reduce the overhead of multiple CTSs/ACKs. It is also possible to alleviate the received signal strength at the enemy detector and thus it improves low probability of detection performance. Through simulations and analysis, the proposed scheme outperforms that of the multiple CTSs/ACks in terms of the throughput, transmission delay and low probability of detection.

The ability to predict radar return from flying vehicles becomes a critical technology issue in the development of stealth configurations. Toward developing a CEM code based on Maxwell's equations for analysis of RCS reduction schemes, an explicit upwind scheme suitable for multidisciplinary design is presented. The DFFT algorithm is utilized to convert the time-domain field values to the frequency-domain. A Green's function based on near field-to-far field transformation is also employed to calculate the bistatic RCS. To verify the numerical calculation the two-dimensional field around a perfectly conducting cylinder is considered. Finally results are obtained for the scattering electromagnetic field around an airfoil in order to illustrate the feasibility of applying CFD based methods to CEM.

ATC (Abnormal traffic controller) is presented as next generation security technology to securely support reliable Internet service and to guarantee network survivability, which is deployed in Internet access point. The key concept of the ATC is abnormal traffic monitoring and traffic control technology. When fault factors exist continuously and/or are repeated, abnormal traffic control guarantees service completeness as much as possible. The ATC with control policy on abnormal traffic is superior to the ATC with blocking policy as well as conventional network node, when the ratio of effective traffic to abnormal traffic is higher than $30{\%}.$ When traffic intended unknown attack occurs, network IDS is high false positive probability and so is limited to apply. In this environment, the ATC can be a key player to help the network node such as router to control abnormal traffic.

UFFO Burst Alert & Trigger telescope (UBAT) is one of major instruments of UFFO-Pathfinder. The UBAT aims at 10 arcmin resolution localization of Gamma Ray Bursts with X-ray coded mask technique. It has $400mm{\times}400mm$ coded mask aperture, hopper, shielding and detector module with effective area of $191cm^2$. The detector module consists of an assembly of 36 64-ch MAPMTs and $25mm{\times}25mm$ pixellated YSO crystal array, and associated analog and digital electronics of about 2500 channels. We performed a vibration test using a dummy MAPMT with the detector module structure to measure the indused stress applied onto the MAPMT. We designed a sub-structure on the detector module to avoid the resonance that would otherwise deforms the detector module structure. A finite element analysis confirms the reduction of the load acceleration down to 12g. The experimental results are to be reported. Consequently, it proves that the MAPMT arrays of the flight UBAT detector module structure would survive in the space launch environment.

Thermal analyses have been performed to study the effect of location of fuel ring and thermal barrier coatings in regenerative cooling channels in a full-scale combustor. For the effective cooling, the fuel ring has better be installed near axial location of the low expansion ratio and low heat flux, and branching of cooling channels is preferable. Also, the radiative cooled nozzle extension is thought to be reasonable for the cooling of combustion walls. Among the possible coatings, $Y_2O_3$ stabilized $ZrO_2$ coating and Ni/Cr coating have been adopted. Compared with Ni/Cr coating which has high oxidation resistance, $Y_2O_3$ stabilized $ZrO_2$ coating, one of ceramic coatings is found to be much effective to sustain the thermal survivability of combustion walls.

TRiplet Ionospheric Observatory-CubeSat for Ion, Neutron, Electron & MAgnetic fields (TRIO-CINEMA) is a CubeSat with 3.14 kg in weight and 3-U ($10{\times}10{\times}30$ cm) in size, jointly developed by Kyung Hee University and UC Berkeley to measure magnetic fields of near Earth space and detect plasma particles. When a satellite is launched into orbit, it encounters ultra-high vacuum and extreme temperature. To verify the operation and survivability of the satellite in such an extreme space environment, experimental tests are conducted on the ground using thermal vacuum chamber. This paper describes the temperature control device and monitoring system suitable for CubeSat test environment using the thermal vacuum chamber of the School of Space Research, Kyung Hee University. To build the chamber, we use a general purpose thermal analysis program and NX 6.0 TMG program. We carry out thermal vacuum tests on the two flight models developed by Kyung Hee University based on the thermal model of the TRIO-CINEMA satellite. It is expected from this experiment that proper operation of the satellite in the space environment will be achieved.
We consider simulation study combining static and mobile decoys for survivability of a surface warship against torpedo attack. It is assumed that an enemy torpedo is a passive acoustic homing torpedo and detects a target within its maximum target detection range and search beam angle by computing signal excess via passive sonar equation, and a warship conducts an evasive maneuvering with deploying static and mobile decoys simultaneously to counteract a torpedo attack. Suggesting the four different decoy deployment plans to achieve the best plan, we analyze an effectiveness for a warship's survival probability through Monte Carlo simulation, given a certain experimental environment. Furthermore, changing the speed and the source level of decoys, the maximum torpedo detection range of warship, and the maximum target detection range of torpedo, we observe the corresponding survival probabilities, which can provide the operational capabilities of an underwater defense system.

Ship damage caused by maritime casualties leads to marine pollution and loss of life and property. To prevent serious damage from maritime casualties, several types of safety regulations are applied in ship design. Damage stability regulation is one of the most important safety issues. Designs of ships for long international voyages must comply with these regulations. Current regulations, however, do not consider the characteristics of the operating route of each ship and reflect only ship size and type of cargo. In this paper, a damage safety assessment was undertaken for a ship carrying radioactive waste in actual wave conditions. Damage cases for safety assessment were constructed on the basis of safety regulations and related research results. Hull form, internal arrangement, loading condition and damage condition were modeled for damage safety simulation. The safety simulation was performed and analyzed for 10 damage cases with various wave heights, frequency and angle of attack on an operating route. Based on evaluation results, a design alternative was generated, and it was also simulated. These results confirmed that damage safety analysis is highly important in the design stage in consideration of the operating route characteristics by simulation. Thus a ship designer can improve safety from damage in this manner.
Objective: Our recent findings confirmed the effectiveness of sodium metabisulfite (SMB) in controlling the growth of undesirable microorganisms in fruit and vegetable discards (FVD); however, lactic acid bacteria (LAB) are susceptible to its antibacterial effects. Two series of experiments were conducted to enable the survivability of LAB during silage fermentation of a total mixed ration (TMR) containing SMB-treated FVD. Methods: In Exp. 1, the objective was to isolate a strain of LAB tolerable to the toxic effect of SMB. In Exp. 2, the SMB load was minimized through its partial replacement with a chemical mixture (CM) based on sodium benzoate (57%), potassium sorbate (29%), and sodium nitrite (14%). FVD was treated with SMB + CM (2 g each/kg biomass) and added to the TMR at varying levels (0%, 10%, or 20%), with or without KU18 inoculation. Results: The KU18 was screened as a presumptive LAB strain showing superior tolerance to SMB in broth medium, and was identified at the molecular level using 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis as Lactobacillus plantarum. Inoculation of KU18 in TMR containing SMB was not successful for the LAB development, biomass acidification, and organoleptic properties of the resultant silage. In Exp. 2, based on the effectiveness and economic considerations, an equal proportion of SMB and CM (2 g each/kg FVD) was selected as the optimal loads for the subsequent silage fermentation experiment. Slight differences were determined in LAB development, biomass acidification, and sensorial characteristics among the experimental silages, suggesting the low toxicity of the preservatives on LAB growth. Conclusion: Although KU18 strain was not able to efficiently develop in silage mass containing SMB-treated FVD, the partial substitution of SMB load with the CM effectively alleviated the toxic effect of SMB and allowed LAB development during the fermentation of SMB + CM-treated FVD in TMR.

In this paper, we investigated the international guidelines and actual disposal maneuver cases to prepare KOMPSAT-2 post mission disposal. And then, disposal maneuver plan was established using current propellant of KOMPSAT-2 and verification was also performed to find out whether the international guidelines are satisfied. As a result, the lifetime of KOMPSAT-2 was 3.6 years when 45kg propellant was used to decrease perigee altitude to 300km. And if more than 14.5kg propellant consumed for same strategy, KOMPSAT-2 can satisfy the international guidelines. Finally, re-entry survivability analysis was performed and it represented that heat resistant objects, such as propellant tank and reaction wheel, could be survived but total ground casualty probability was less than international guidelines.
