  • The internet survey is more time and cost efficient than the off-line survey. We design and implement a web-based questionnaire generating system for the internet survey. The system guides users to make up a questionnaire step by step. It also generates data code for the statistical packages such as SPSS and SAS when the internet survey has been done.

  • In this paper, as a forecasting method, the market survey for forecasting demand is introduced for the estimation of subscriber line demand in the optical access networks. The market survey method for the new multimedia services is attempted to collect information directly from customers using the questionnaires for home-users and business-users in local loops. Analysis rationale of questionnaires is suggested to estimate the number of subscriber lines. Also, two measures are presented to quantify the credibility on survey responses; one is the probability that the customer will use the multimedia services and the other is the rate that the subscriber line demand will be actually realized. The former measure is calculated based on the information on customers and the Logit analysis. The latter is obtained by the degree of customer's knowledge about specific services and the customer's willingness to use the services. Based on the values of two measures, the number of subscriber line demand can be developed for installing the optical access networks.

  • Background and Objectives: Cardiff Acne Disability Index(CADI) is one tool used internationally to measure the quality of life of acne sufferers. There, however, is a necessity of developing Korean version of CADI, as the questionnaires of the original one are written in English, making it hard to apply for Korean patients. So as a first step, we conducted a cross-cultural translation of CADI into Korean and verification of face validity. Methods: After properly translating CADI questionnaires into Korean up to guidelines for cross-cultural adaptation of health related quality-of-life measures, we conducted a survey with 122 undergraduates to get face validity, using the translated questionnaires. Results: About the translated CADI questionnaires, 86 out of 107 undergraduates replied that they had no difficulty understanding them, while 21 offered ideas about ambiguous expressions of them. Upon further examination of two oriental doctors, two sentences were additionally modified in the translated version. Conclusions: Firstly, we created the Korean version of CADI, one of the most effective methods in the world to measure acne sufferers' quality of life, by properly translated the original version into Korean. Then we conducted a survey for face validity with the translated questionnaires and gathered opinions from those questioned. After going through some examining and correcting procedures based on the opinions, we finalized the Korean version of CADI. It will also require a follow-up verification process to prove credibility and validity of the final version of Korean CADI.

  • For the purpose of developing 'Web-Based Nutritional Education Program', this study analyzed nutritional problems of junior/senior high school students and set appropriate instructional goals for nutritional education program. Survey questionnaires were distributed from October 21,2002 to October 26, 2002 to a total of 564 students at three junior high schools and five senior high schools located in Seoul. The total number of questionnaires collected and used in our study was 479, which is 84.9% of the total questionnaires distributed. According to the survey results, three student groups (male and female students at junior high schools and female students at senior high schools) had lower than an ideal body weight. In case of their Basal Metabolic Indices (BMI), the female students and junior high school students showed a tendency to be underweight, while the other three student groups were within the normal range. The result of the survey showed that all four groups of students showed a deficiency in nutrient intake of calories, calcium and thiamin when compared with Korean RDA. Particularly, in the case of the female students at senior high schools, the deficiency of iron intake was a problem. The survey about food attitudes and food habits of the students showed that the senior high school students had more problems when compared with their junior high school counterparts (p < .001). Therefore, the instructional goals of nutritional education program were set as follows: 1) To improve the level of understanding and the perception of junior and senior high school students about the importance of a dietary lifestyle. 2) To change food attitudes and nutritional knowledge related to individual dietary 1ifestyle, so as to maintain good health through the enhancement of the students' physical activities. We found out that it is critically important to factor in the existing problems of food attitudes and food habits, as well as nutrient intake among junior and senor high school students when setting objectives for nutritional education programs. • Objective: This study is about the physical therapy facilities and environmental and service satisfaction of patients visiting in the front military hospitals and divisions. Design: Survey study Methods: Prior to this survey, 28 users of the front division and military hospital were surveyed in advance to verify the survey through reliability analysis. For this survey, 1,300 questionnaires were distributed to seven frontline divisions and three military hospitals, of which 578 military hospitals and 479 divisions were collected. Among them, 1,042 pieces of data were used for the analysis, excluding 15 questionnaires that exceeded the research period of the division. Analysis methods used Cronbach-α and multiple regression for mean comparison analysis, factor analysis for validation, and reliability verification to verify differences between groups. Results: As a result of the satisfaction analysis, the division's stage satisfaction was higher than that of military hospitals, and as a result of analyzing the satisfaction items by sector, accessibility, re-visit doctors, and professionalism accounted for a large portion in the field of physical therapy services. As a result of a regression analysis, the factors that affect the satisfaction of physical therapy had the greatest impact on facility and environmental satisfaction, and expertise in physical therapy services. Conclusions: In the future, it will be necessary to improve the comfort of the physical therapy room and the expertise of physical therapy in order to improve the satisfaction level of physical therapy at military medical facilities.

  • The study of job satisfaction among female dentists is essential to improve the quality of their life. In this study, a job satisfaction survey of female dentists in Gwangju was performed and the factors affecting job satisfaction were examined. A survey of female dentists in Gwangju was conducted using a custom-designed and validated questionnaire which incorporated the Korean Dentist satisfaction Survey (KDSS) as well as questions regarding socio-demographics and professional characteristics. Satisfaction for each question was measured by a 5-point Likert scale. The final analysis was performed with 89 questionnaires, after excluding 3 non-response questionnaires. Analysis of the data for each group was carried out using a Mann-Whitney U test and Kruskal-Wallis H test. The reliability of the questionnaire was identified by the internal consistency of the survey using Cronbach coefficient. The data were statistically analyzed using SPSS (IBM SPSS Statistics 19, SPSS Inc, Chicago, Ill, USA). The level of statistical significance was set at p = 0.05. On analyzing with use of the above mentioned method, the following findings were observed: Income, leisure time, time for self-development, and overall job satisfaction were lower than the average, especially the percentage of dissatisfaction was much higher than that of satisfaction. Satisfaction was associated with age, duration of employment, and the number of assistants. The limitations of this study are the lack of an adequate sample size, convenience sampling during extraction, the lack of questionnaire items, the limitations of quantitative research, and failure to perform measurement in the non-response group. However, female dentists can be expected to achieve a more satisfactory and enhanced working environment if the research based on the current study is followed up in an expanded target group.
