  • A survey was conducted and analyzed for strengthening the employment competitiveness of engineering students. Questionnaires were conducted to students and graduates majoring in mechanical, civil engineering and computer science as well as to small and medium sized industries. It includes the level of satisfaction and requirement to recognize the situation of the students in metropolitan Seoul area. Survey results indicate that for undergraduates and graduates, knowledge of their own majors is most important. However, for industry, the most important factor is the ability of analysis and application, and their personalities. With the results of this survey, it is expected that these discrepancies between industries and students are reduced and the competitiveness of students is strengthened.

  • Since the enactment of the "Framework Act on the Korean Language (herein after "Act ), researchers have focused their studies on measuring whether the Act played a huge role in providing Korean education. This can be confirmed by many, that the Act has indeed played a huge part in providing Korean language education. However, little attention was given to the validity of the education curriculum for prospective Korean language teachers as provided by the Act. Therefore, this survey has been conducted to provide an insight to teachers' perception of the Korean language curriculum for prospective teachers and will test whether such perception meets the standards in which the Act has been enacted. In this survey, we have received response on the importance of each domain and subject in the areas of Korean language education as viewed by the Korean language teachers. The results revealed the importance in the following order: Teaching Practice, Korean Linguistics, Korean Educational Linguistics, General Linguistics, and Korean Culture. These results strongly suggest that there is a need for the current curriculum, laid out by the Act, to be reconsidered to stress different levels of importance and time assignment for each category. The survey analysis shows the disparity in importance within the curriculum between the Act and the views in which the Korean language teachers perceive Korean language education. While further research is needed to confirm the analysis of this survey, this area of research will be instrumental in determining the suggestive shapes of the curriculum governed by the Act in the years to come.

  • Objectives: This study was conducted to survey the viewpoints on the material safety data sheets(MSDS) training for safety and health managers(SHMs) and workers. Subjects and Methods: A surveillance was made using a self-reported questionnaire for 78 SHMs and 122 workers to survey their viewpoints on the MSDS training. Survey results were analyzed using the SPSS program(Version 12.0 SPSS Inc., USA). Results: The result of the study shows that there are contrasts with the cognition of SHMs' and workers' on the education of MSDS and the program preference for education efficiency of MSDS. Workers were significantly more interested in the MSDS education than the SHMs did. Workers preferred the education program which is easily to be understood, to voluntarily participate on MSDS education, but SHMs did the quiz program. Also we found that the SHMs wanted to learn the education program via the expert(37.3%) rather than education resources(33.3%) which were served by government or relevant agency. In contrast, workers wanted the audio-visual education program, which is mainly consisted of accident cases (33.3%), rather than periodical education program(22.1%). Conclusions: This study showed that effectiveness of MSDS education was associated with the program served by company, and the education program for the voluntary participation of the workers should be made practical and attractive.

The survey was conducted on 1,200 teenagers(middle and high school students) in North Jeolla Province. The results of the study are as follows. First, the survey results were generally low in terms of environmental attitude and response(actuality) as well as the level of knowledge of particulate matter. Second, particulate matter-related education is rarely conducted at school sites; therefore, it is also necessary to develop an environmental education programs that can be a significant educational experience along with a specific educational orientation that is required to ensure the achievement of sustainable residential environment education. Finally, we hope that this study will help raise awareness on sustainable residential environment education amid difficulties in accessibility. Issues that need further study include: the absence of education materials, environmental education related to particulate matter, and guidance on how to maintain healthy living for individuals that help increase interest in a sustainable living environment for future generations.
