  • From now on, power line communication was made use of controling using 450 kHz narrow band, but as the PLC technology developing, in the near future get to the commercial step that is broadband PLC upto 30 MHz. In this paper, analyze the possibility of moving picture transmission for adapting surveillance camera which is among of the application of PLC. To analyze characteristics of channel, estimate the noise and impedance of lab, office, home. In case of noise, there is no problem to communicate each other because of 20 ~ 50 dB gain. In case of impedance, average impedance is about 100 ohm, it satisfy standards of designing modem but because max and min values get out of expectation there are some problem to acquire fully capacity of modems. Its condition is the same as transmission of multimedia data. In this test as more packets, as more handling rate, in lab, for the case that transmit 1,518 byte as the speed of 6 Mbps handling rate is upto 100%, it means possibility of moving picture transmission as the 6 Mbps speed. For delayed time there is no relationship about transmitted packets. As a result, there is no problem about applying surveillance camera via the PLC. And more cameras can work within PLC for considering the number of transmitted frames.

  • This paper proposes a novel video stitching method that improves real-time performance and visual quality of a multi-camera video surveillance system. A two-stage seam searching algorithm based on enhanced dynamic programming is proposed. It can obtain satisfactory result and achieve better real-time performance than traditional seam-searching methods. The experiments show that the computing time is reduced by 66.4% using the proposed algorithm compared with enhanced dynamic programming, while the seam-searching accuracy is maintained. A real-time local update scheme reduces the deformation effect caused by moving objects passing through the seam, and a seam-based local color transfer model is constructed and applied to achieve smooth transition in the overlapped area, and overcome the traditional pixel blending methods. The effectiveness of the proposed method is proved in the experiements.

  • Human detection techniques in outdoor scenes have been studied for a long time to watch suspicious movements or to keep someone from danger. However there are few methods of human detection in overhead or near-field view scenes, while lots of human detection methods in far-field view scenes have been developed. In this paper, a set of five features useful for human detection in overhead view scenes and another set of four useful features in near-field view scenes are suggested. Eight feature-candidates are first extracted by analyzing geometrically varying characteristics of moving objects in samples of video sequences. Then highly contributed features for each view scene to classifying human from other moving objects are selected among them by using a neural network learning technique. Through experiments with hundreds of moving objects, we found that each set of features is very useful for human detection and classification accuracy for overhead view and near-field view scenes was over 90%. The suggested sets of features can be used effectively in a PTZ camera based surveillance system where both the overhead and near-field view scenes appear.

  • In this paper, we describe implementation of FPGA-based Nios II embedded processor system and linux device driver for image monitoring system which is supplement weakness for fixed surveillance area of existing CCTV system and by manual operation of the camera's moving. Altera Nios II processor 8.0 is supported MMU which is stable and efficient managed memory. We designed the image monitoring and control system by using Altera Nios II soft-core processor system which is flexible in various application and excellent adaptability. By implementation of camera device driver and VGA decvice driver for Linux-based Nios II system, we implemented image serveillance system for Nios II embedded processor system.

  • In this paper, we proposed a river water level detection and tracking of the river or dams based on image processing system. In past, most of the water level detection system used various water sensors. Those water sensors works perfectly but have many drawbacks such as high cost and harsh weather. Water level monitoring system helps in forecasting early river disasters and maintenance of the water body area. However, the early river disaster warning system introduces many conflicting requirements. Surveillance camera based water level detection system depends on either the area of interest from the water body or on optical flow algorithm. This proposed system is focused on water scaling area of a river or dam to detect water level. After the detection of scale area from water body, the proposed algorithm will immediately focus on the digits available on that area. Using the numbers on the scale, water level of the river is predicted. This proposed system is successfully tested on different water bodies to detect the water level area and predicted the water level.

  • In this paper, we propose an intelligent surveillance system using fuzzy contrast and HOG method. This surveillance system is mainly for the intruder detection. In order to enhance the brightness difference, we apply fuzzy contrast and also apply subtraction method to before/after the surveillance. Then the system identifies the intrusion when the difference of histogram between before/after surveillance is sufficiently large. If the incident happens, the camera stops automatically and the analysis of the screen is performed with fuzzy binarization and Blob method. The intruder is detected and tracked in real time by HOG method and linear SVM. The proposed system is implemented and tested in real world environment and showed acceptable performance in both detection rate and tracking success rate.

  • In this paper, a new intelligent moving target tracking and surveillance system basing on the pan/tilt-embedded stereo camera system is suggested and implemented. In the proposed system, once the face area of a target is detected from the input stereo image by using a YCbCr color model and phase-type correlation scheme and then, using this data as well as the geometric information of the tracking system, the distance and 3D information of the target are effectively extracted in real-time. Basing on these extracted data the pan/tilted-imbedded stereo camera system is adaptively controlled and as a result, the proposed system can track the target adaptively under the various circumstance of the target. From some experiments using 480 frames of the test input stereo image, it is analyzed that a standard variation between the measured and computed the estimated target's height and an error ratio between the measured and computed 3D coordinate values of the target is also kept to be very low value of 1.03 and 1.18$\%$ on average, respectively. From these good experimental results a possibility of implementing a new real-time intelligent stereo target tracking and surveillance system using the proposed scheme is finally suggested.

  • Recently, video surveillance is becoming more and more common as many camera are installed due to crime, terrorism, traffic and security. And systems that control cameras are becoming increasingly general. Video input from the installed camera is monitored by the multiscreen at the central control center, it is essential to simultaneously monitor multiscreen in real-time to quickly respond to situations or dangers. However, monitoring of multiscreen in a mobile environment such as a smart phone is not applied to hardware specifications or network bandwidth problems. For resolving these problems, in this paper, we propose a system that can monitor multiscreen in real-time in mobile-phone environment. We reconstruct the desired multiscreen through transcoding, it is possible to monitor continuously video streaming of multiple cameras, and to have the advantage of being mobile in mobile-phone environment.

  • Recently, the study about object tracking using image processing has been active in the field of security and surveillance. Existing security and surveillance systems using multiple cameras have been operating independently. Thus, the chase was difficult when the tracking object move to other monitored areas. In this paper, we propose the way to change the control of camera automatically following the moving direction of objects in multiple cameras. The proposed method detects the object and tracks the object using color information and direction information of object. The color information obtains using the hue and the direction information obtains using the optical flow. At this time, the optical flow is detected for the entire image area of an object that is not applied only to reduce the computational complexity makes it possible to track in real time. In addition, it can be solved to inconvenience of security surveillance system to use existing camera by tracking an object automatically.

  • In video surveillance and monitoring (VSAM), extracting foreground by detecting moving regions is the most fundamental step. The foreground extracted, however, includes not only objects in motion but also their shadows, which may cause errors in following video image processing steps. To remove the shadows, this paper presents a new technique to determine shadow pixels in the foreground image of a VSAM camera system. The proposed technique utilizes a fact that the effect of shadowing to each pixel is different defending on its brightness in a background image when determining shadow pixels unlike existing techniques where unified decision criteria are used to all pixels. Such an approach can easily accommodate local features in an image and hold consistent Performance even in changing environment. In real experiments, the proposed technique showed better results compared with an existing technique.
