Temporary soft liners can be used to prevent chronic soreness from dentures or to aid in its treatment are as adjuncts in tissue conditioning, for temporary obturators, and to stabilize baseplate or surgical stent. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the shock absorption properties of several temporary soft denture liners using a free drop test with an accelerometer. The materials tested inclued Coe-comfort, Softone, Tissue conditioner and Viscogel. The specimens were fabricated with the thickness of 1, 2, 3mm and were stored in distilled water at $37^{\circ}C$ for a day, 1, 2, and 3 weeks. Six samples were made with each material for each test condition and the shock-absorbing behavior was evaluated according to material, thickness and duration. The results were as following : 1. Softone of 3mm thickness stored for a day showed the most excellent shock absorbability. 2. The shock absorbing behavior of duration according to materials and thickness showed a day to be the highest and decreased in 1 week, 2 weeks and 3 weeks in that order(p<0.05). And there was no significant difference between durations in Tissue conditioner. 3. The shock absorbability of thickness according to materials and duration showed 3mm to be highest and decreased in the order of 2mm, 1mm(p<0.05). 4. In comparison of the shock absorbability of temporary soft denture liners according to thickness, there was statistically significant difference between Softone and Visocgel, Tissue conditioner, Coe-comfort / Viscogel and Tissue conditioner, Coe-comfort in 1,2mm thickness, and between Softone, Viscogel and Tissue conditioner, Coe-comfort in 3mm thickness (p<0.05).
Although most of the patients with endobronchial tuberculosis have some degree of bronchial stenosis, more aggressive treatment is needed to restore the patency of the involved tracheobronchial tree for some patients not responding well to antituberculous chemotherapy combined with steroids. In our first case, we reseated stenotic trachea in a 42 years old women who showe overgrowing granulation tissue through the modified Gianturco steno wire which was previously inserted and anastomosed end to end. Another case was a 37 years old male with left main bronchial rcstenosis complicate, $\boxUl$ after inserting a Strecker stent and sleeve left upper lobectomy was performed.

The common errors in preoperative treatment plan for the orthognathic surgery can be occurred during cast impression, cast mounting procedure with face-bow transfer, surgical stent fabrication, and so on. One of the most common errors exists during mounting process of the model on the articulator. Accurate mounting of dental casts to articulator should be achieved by transferring the 3-dimensional spatial relationship of the maxillary arch to an articulator. A face-bow is used for transfer this relationship to articulator, usually by relating the face-bow to a plane of reference of maxillary cast. The purpose of this study is evaluation of the accuracy of face-bow transferring of maxillary model to the articulator. The maxillary casts of thirty patients for orthognathic surgery were mounted on articulator with an face-bow instrument. The relationship of occlusal plane angle to Frankfort horizontal plane relations were compared the cephalogram with the cast-mounted articulator. As a result of this study, the significant difference between the maxillary occlusal planes angle in the cephalogram and articulator were found. The results were followed, 1. The mean occlusal plane angle in cast-mounted articulator was $13.5^{\circ}\;(SD{\pm}5.4)$. 2. The mean occlusal plane angle in cephalogram was $10.4^{\circ}\;(SD{\pm}4.3)$. 3. The mean difference of occlusal plane angle between cast-mounted articulator and cephalogram was $3.3^{\circ}\;(SD{\pm}4.6)$. According to the result, we should suggest that the occlusal plane angle to Frankfort plane in cast-mounted articulator is more steeper than that of cephalogram. And then, maxillofacial surgeon should try to get a more predictable result by suggesting the proper correction method and mounting the cast accurately.

Hematoma is quite a common complication of femoral arterial catheterization. However, to the best of our knowledge, there have been no previous studies regarding deep vein thrombosis (DVT) caused by compression of a vein due to a hematoma. We report a case of a hematoma developing after femoral arterial catheterization and causing extensive symptomatic DVT. A 59-year-old male was seen in our Emergency Department with right lower leg swelling 15 days after coronary stent implantation performed using right femoral artery access. Computed tomographic (CT) scanning revealed a large hematoma (45 mm in its longest diameter) compressing the common femoral vein and with DVT from the right external iliac vein to the popliteal vein. Due to the extensive DVT involvement, we decided to release the compressed common femoral vein by surgical evacuation of the large hematoma. However, even following evacuation of the hematoma, as the DVT did not resolve soon, further mechanical thrombectomy and catheter-directed thrombolysis were performed. Angiography then showed nearly resolved DVT, and the leg swelling was improved. The patient was discharged with the anticoagulation medication, warfarin.

Renovascular hypertension results from a lesion that impairs blood flow to a part of or all, of one or both kidneys. Renal artery stenosis is the major cause of renovascular hypertension and the most common cause of treatable secondary hypertension. Recently, percutaneous transluminal renal angioplasty(PTRA) with or without stent placement, has become the preferred choice for correcting symptomatic renal artery stenosis since it is less invasive than surgical reconstruction. PTRA with balloons designed for the dilatation for the dilatation of the coronary artery can be tried in small sized renal artery stenosis. We report a case of renovascular hypertension in a 13-year-old male who had small sized renal artery stenosis. Hypertension was controlled by PTRA with balloon dilatation.

The Scanora/sup (R)/ X-ray unit uses the principles of narrow beam radiography and spiral tomography. Starting with a panoramic overview as a scout image. multiple tomographic projections could be selected. This study evaluated the accuracy of spiral tomography in comparison to routine panoramic radiography for dental implant treatment planning. An experimental study was performed on a cadaver mandible to assess the accuracy of panoramic radiography and spiral tomography film images for measurement of metallic spheres. After radiographic images of the metallic spheres on the surgical stent were measured and corrected for a fixed magnification of radiographic images. following results were obtained. 1. In the optimal position of the mandible. the minimal horizontal and vertical distortion was evident in the panoramic radiography images. The mean horizontal and vertical magnification error in anterior sites was 5.25% and 0.75%. respectively. The mean horizontal and vertical magnification error in posterior sites was 0.50% and 1.50%. respectively. 2. In the displaced forward or in an eccentric position of the mandible. the magnification error of the panoramic radiography images increased significantly over the optimal position. Overall, the mean horizontal magnification error of the anterior site in the different positions changed dramatically within a range of -17.25% to 39.00%, compared to the posterior range of -5.25% to 8.50%. However, the mean vertical magnification error stayed with the range of 0.5% to 3.75% for all the mandibular positions. 3. The magnification effects in the tomographic scans were nearly identical for the anterior and posterior with a range of 2.00% to 5.75% in the horizontal and 4.50% to 5.50% in the vertical dimension, respectively. 4. A statistically significant difference between the anterior and posterior measurements was found in the horizontal measurements of the panoramic radiography images of the displaced forward and backward position of the mandible(P<0.05). Also a significant difference between the optimal panoramic and tomographic projections was found only in the vertical measurement(P<0.05).
Purpose : This article is to describe a modified device for intraoral radiography which was developed to obtain reproducible radiographic images for assessment of distal osseous defects of the mandibular second molar (2 Mm) after impacted third molar (3 Mm) surgery. Materials and Methods : A commercial available alignment system for posterior region was modified by adding a reference gauge pin (millimetric) and threading a hollow acrylic cylinder at the ring of the radiographic positioner to attach the X-ray collimator. The design included customized resin acrylic stent for the occlusal surface of the 2Mm in maximum intercuspal position, individualizing the biteblock positioner. Periapical radiographs were taken before and after surgical extraction of 3 Mm, employing the radiographic technique of parallelism described by Kugelberg (1986) with this modified film holder and inserting the gauge pin on the deepest bone probing depth point. Results : This technique permitted to obtain standardized periapical radiographs with a moderate to high resolution, repeatability, and accuracy. There was no difference between the measurements on the pre- and post-operative radiographs. This technique allowed better maintenance of the same geometric position compared with conventional one. The insertion of the gauge pin provided the same reference point and localized the deepest osseous defect on the two-dimensional radiographs. Conclusion : This technique allowed better reproducibility in posterior radiographic records (distal surface of 2 Mm) and more accurate measurements of radiographic bone level by the use of a millimetric pin.

Most myocardial bridgings are found incidentally without symptoms, but myocardial bridging may induce symptoms such as angina, myocardial infarction, and ventricular arrythmia. In a patient who has symptoms despite of proper medication, stent insertion, supra-arterial myotomy or coronary artery bypass grafting have been applied without a definite guideline of treatment. We report two surgical cases of myocardial bridging with a review of the literature.
Recently, the number of interventional procedures has increased dramatically as an alternative of invasive surgical procedure and patient radiation exposure is also increasing accordingly. In this study, we evaluated the patient dose of major interventional procedures nationwide and we established our Korean database. With these results, we tried to suggest the reference dose level for major interventional procedures. We evaluated patent dose data in the field of interventional radiology from foreign countries. Measurement of radiation dose exposure for 11 major interventional procedures was conducted using embedded DAP meters in 10,006 patients from 47 hospitals, and reference level of each interventional procedure was suggested. The DRLs of each intervenional procedure are as follows: TACE 206(Gy·cm2), AVF 12(Gy·cm2), LE intervention 43(Gy·cm2), TFCA 122(Gy·cm2), Cerebral aneurysm coil embolization 214(Gy·cm2), PTBD 22(Gy·cm2), Biliary stent 60(Gy·cm2), PCN 7(Gy·cm2), Hickman catheter 2.1(Gy·cm2), Chemoport 1.4(Gy·cm2), BAE 104(Gy·cm2). Compared with the previously established DRL in 2012, the radiation dose decreased in all 10 interventional procedures. In the future, continuous publicity and education on the radiation dose reduction will be needed.
Aortobronchial fistula (ABF) induced by an infected pseudoaneurysm of the thoracic aorta is a life-threatening condition. As surgical treatment is associated with significant mortality and morbidity, thoracic endovascular aneurysm repair (TEVAR) may be an alternative for the treatment of ABF. However, the long-term durability of this intervention is largely unknown and the recurrence of ABF is a potential complication. We experienced a case of recurrent ABF after stent grafting as an early procedure for an infected pseudoaneurysm of the thoracic aorta. Remnant ABF, bronchial and/or aortic wall erosion, vasa vasorum connected with ABF, and recurrent local inflammation of the thin aortic wall around ABF might cause recurrent hemoptysis. As a result, we suggest that TEVAR should be considered as a bridge therapy for the initial treatment of ABF resulting from an infected pseudoaneurysm, and that several options, such as second-stage surgery, should be considered to prevent the recurrence of ABF.
