A time variable modeling study was performed for seasonal variations of vertical temperature profiles in the Okjung Lake located in upstream of the Sumjin River. Based on the model structure of the US Army Corps of Engineer's CE-QUAL-W2, the lake was divided into 3 branches, 50 longitudinal segments and 49 vertical layers and vertical profiles of water temperature and current velocity were simulated over one year. The model results were calibrated and verified against vertical profiles of water temperature measured every month from March 1998 to February 1999 at 5 different locations. The model results showed a good agreement with the field measurements. The hydrologic balance during this period was validated by comparing the simulated values of surface elevation level with the measured data. There was some discrepancy in July data between the model results and the fleld measurements. This could be attributed partially to the inadequacy of the model to the highly hydrodynamic nature of water body and partially to the lack of accuracy in local atmospheric temperature data during summer monsoon period. The model results have shown that there was no seasonal over-turn in most part of the Okjung Lake, where water temperature maintained above $4^{\circ}C$ over one year. In the upstream shal-low area (depth<20 meter), however, temperature at surface layer fell below $4^{\circ}C$ and water was frozen such that slight over-turn would occur during winter period. From this study, we concluded that the Okjung Lake is oligomictic. This conclusionis significantly different from the general pattern that the lakes located from $20^{\circ}C$ to $40^{\circ}C$ latitude would be warm monomictic. From the examination of simulated current velocity distribution, it was found that the upstream inflows would infiltrate into mesolimnion of the lake during hydrodynamic summer monsoon periods due to the thermal density of water.
In order to calculate dose rates from steam generators to be replaced from Kori unit 1 in 1998, radionuclide inventories inside steam generator were evaluated from smear test results and measured dose rates from S/G tubes withdrawn for the metallographical examination of damaged tubes. Based on the inventories, contact dose rates and dose rates at 1 m from the surface of a steam generator were calculated using the QAD-CG computer code. Contact dose rates ranged from 11.5 mR/hr at the bottom of channel head to 37.7 mR/hr at the middle of shell barrel, and showed no significant difference with dose rates at 1 m from the surface of steam generator. Shielding effects of lead and carbon steel were compared to provide basic shielding data. Lead shield showed excellent shielding effects. Dose rate at 1 m from the middle of S/G shell barrel decreased from 38.6 mR/hr to 15.5 mR/hr with the lead shield of 2 mm thickness. However, carbon steel showed a poor shielding effect even with the thickness of 2.0 cm. This can be explained with the great differences in the attenuation effect and buildup factor between lead and carbon steel for low energy photons.
This report does studied for making the method of conserving bracket murals in Daeungjeon of Jikjisa Temple, through the scientific way. Results of evaluated the conservation status at the braket mural paintings, most serious damage is structural damage like cracks, breakage, and delamination. After optical investigation, a characteristic point wasn't found such as underdrawing or traces of a coat of paint. The ultrasonic examination speed by each wall painting was measured from about 195.8 m/s to 392.7 m/s, according to the location of the surface, and it was able to compare the surface properties according to the location. In Infrared-thermal image measurement shows that wall layer separation and paint layer delamination are closely detected, therefore it was able to judge of damage on the objective way. Material analysis revealed that the walls were made by sand and weathering soil. The wall layer combined sand with less than fine sand size by nearly 5:5, and the finishing layer was found to have mixed medium sand and fine sand at approximately 6:4 rates. However, In case of finishing layer, mixing ratios of sizes less than very fine sand were found to be significantly lower than wall. Therefore, it is estimated that the plysical damage such as the separation between the layers of the walls created in the braket mural paintings, is continuously caused by changes in the internal stresses and volume ratio caused by the density differences between the wall and the finishing layers.
The purpose of this study is to find the optimal method for clinical application by analyzing image quality and radiation output according to parameter combination when using the Automatic Exposure Control (AEC). The experimental method combines 70, 81 kVp with sensitivity S200, S400, S800 and S1000 of the Automatic Exposure Control for Entrance Surface Dose (ESD), current volume, Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR), Contrast to Noise Ratio (CNR), Time-to-Radiation Dose Curve in abdomen and pelvis. And then, image quality and radiation output stability were evaluated. As a results, Entrance Surface Dose, current volume, Signal to Noise Ratio, Contrast to Noise Ratio decreased as the tube voltage and sensitivity were set higher. In addition, the higher tube voltage and sensitivity, the Time-to-Radiation Dose Curve showed a poor output stability. In conclusion, the higher the combination of tube voltage and sensitivity in the use of Automatic Exposure Control, the more problems can be seen in image quality and stability of the radiation output. Therefore, a relatively low combination of tube voltage and sensitivity showed that the image quality and radiation output stability could be optimized by minimizing the error range that would occur when the detector recognized a combination of parameters.

In this study, to examine the use of sulfur polymer as a coating agent for concrete, durability and hazard evaluations were performed. The result of the evaluation indicated that the chemical resistance of the coating agent for concrete was outstanding against acidic, base, and alkaline solutions. The evaluation of the bond strength after an accelerated weathering test depending on the mixing condition indicated that the most outstanding strength characteristic was obtained when silica powder and fly ash were mixed at the same time. The bond strength exceeded 1 MPa in every mixing condition even after the repeated hot and cold treatment of the coating agent specimen for concrete, and the SFS mix proportion showed the highest bond strength. The examination of the accelerated carbonation and chloride ion penetration resistance of the concrete coated with the coating agent indicated that the specimen coated with the coating agent using silica powder as a filler showed the most outstanding durability. When a fish toxicity test was performed to examine the hazard of the use of the functional polymer as a coating agent for concrete, the functional polymer was found to have no effect on the organisms. When the chemical resistance, freezing and thawing resistance, carbonation, and chloride ion penetration resistance of the coating agent were considered, substituting silica powder and fly ash as the fillers of the functional polymer by 20%, respectively, was the optimal level in the range of this study.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of Er:YAG laser on cutting efficacy and its histologic findings. Dentin specimens of human premolars and molars were used and irradiated by Er:YAG laser with noncontact handpiece type delivery system under different treatment condition of irradiation time. Cavity pattern and volume were evaluated to determine the cutting efficacy and following results were obtained. 1. Cutting volume of sound dentin was getting larger with time immersed in water increase 2. With the condition of irradiation (150mJ, 10Hz, 30sec), surface irregularity was more increased in sound dentin comparing to carious dentin. For the light microscopic examination, dentinal tubules were opened and ash flecks and cracks were noted with inconsistence of dentinal tubules. 3. In case of 30 sec. irradiation in carious dentin, dark zone was limited to small focus whereas 1 min. irradiation, more wider, and cracks were noted in the perpendicular to direction of dentinal tubules. For the 2 min. irradiation, cavity was the widest and more cracks were found.
Bonding of resin to cast alloy has traditionally been provided by mechanical retention. But, chemical bonding methods such as silicoating, tin plating, heat treatment, application of 4-META adhesives, have been developed to overcome the problems of the mechanical bonding methods. Silicoating has been used availaby in fixed prosthodontics, but is also reported to be used in removable prosthodontics. The aim of this study is to measure the tensile bond strength between resin and metal, and compare the effect of the type of metal and the grain size of the aluminum oxide on the bond strength, after metal surface roughening, coating of the opaque resin, and curing of heat-curing resin were performed. The test groups were divided into 4 groups according to the cast alloys and the aluminum oxide particles used. Group 1 : Type 4 gold alloy(DM66) blasted with $$50{\mu}m\;Al_{2}O_3$$ Group 2 : Type 4 gold alloy(DM66) blasted with $$250{\mu}m\;Al_{2}O_3$$, Group 3 : Co-Cr alloy(Nobilium) blasted with $$50{\mu}m\;Al_{2}O_3$$ Group 4 : Co-Cr alloy(Nobilium) blasted with $$250{\mu}m\;Al_{2}O_3$$ * 10 test specimens were made on each group. The specimens were thermocycled, and Instron Universal testing machine was used to measure the tensile bond strength of the finished specimens. The results were as follows : 1. Bond strengths showed that the group of gold alloy blasted with $250{\mu}m$ aluminum oxide particle had higher bond strength, and the group of gold alloy blasted with $50{\mu}m$ aluminum oxide particles had lower bond strength than any of the other groups. 2. Gold alloy had significantly higher bond strength when blasted with $250{\mu}m$ aluminum oxide particles than $50{\mu}m$, but. Co-Cr alloy showed no statistically significant difference between the two particle sizes. 3. When blasted with $50{mu}m$ aluminum oxide particles, Co-Cr alloy showed significantly higher bond strength than gold alloy. And, when blasted with $250{\mu}m$ aluminum oxide particles, gold alloy had significantly higher bond strength than Co-Cr alloy. 4. On the examination of the fractured sites, only the group of Co-Cr alloy blasted with $50{\mu}m$ aluminum oxide particles showed a part of residual opaque resin, but all the samples of the other groups fractured between the resin and the metal.

Background : As each human has a look in the face of oneself, he or she has a look of him or herself in the shape of the body also. And for the shape of the body which gives a big clue in diagnosis in musculoskeletal disorders. Therefor many means are used and developed for diagnosis through body shape or posture analysis for musculoskeletal disorders. X-ray, CT, MRI has been used for diagnosis through image in this way to tell about the inside of the human body. On the other side, moire topography was used for information about the exterior of the human body, but yet only minimal information such as the number of contour lines in each side was available. Therefor there were a few studies to use moire topography or other methods to get information about the surface of the human body in numeric values. The instrument used in this study which is a laser projection moire, is another trial to get numeric data about the surface of the human body. The instrument is composed of laser projector and a computer software to recompose and analyse the image data into depth, height, angle and length. Methods : For reproductivity and repeatability, 4 testers tested 2 persons. And to how if the body shape changes according to the posture and which posture gives the most reliable data, the test was performed in 6 different positions. Results : Result, the instrument showed sufficient repeatability and reproductivity for clinical use. And among the items the software provides, the length of the back, the angle of the back in the sagittal and coronal plane showed reliable results. And there was difference in the results according to the posture, and Therefor, in following studies using this instrument or similar type of posture analysing instruments, the length of the back, the angle of the back in the sagittal and coronal plane could be reliable item to use.
The steam generator tubes of nuclear power plants have various types of corrosion failures during the plant operation. The stress corrosion cracking which occurs on the outer surface of tube is called the secondary side stress corrosion cracking and mainly occurs in the expansion-transition area of tube. The causes are the concentration of impurities by the sludge pile-up related to the geometry of its region and the residual stress by tube expansion in the process of steam generator manufacturing. Especially the directionality and sizes of residual stresses are differed according to the tube expansion methods and the direction and the frequency of tube cracks depend on their characteristics. In bases on the plant experiences, it is notified that circumferential cracks of tubes expanded with explosive expansion method are dominantly occurred compared to those of tubes done with hydraulic expansion one. Therefore in this study, according to tube expansion methods frequencies and sizes of tube cracks with specific direction are compared by means of accelerated immersion test and also the crack morphology and the specific chemicals from water-chemistry environment are observed through the fracture surface examination.
A distribution study of glitter was conducted from a local university building. The potential recipient surfaces chosen were the 1,000 chairs kept in 16 separate classrooms of the building. The surface of chairs contacting with buttocks and back of users were tape lifted with commercial adhesive tapes, and the surface of adhesive tapes were examined with a stereomicroscope to locate the glitters. 12 glitter particles were found from 11 chairs kept in 16 classrooms of a building. This result indicates that the possibility of glitter finding from Korean violent crime scene is high. The 12 glitters found from the chairs were analyzed with a stereomicroscope and an FTIR spectrophotometer to find the matching glitter. The stereomicroscope was used for the observation of the shapes, dimensions, colors and holograms of each glitter, and the FTIR spectrophotometer was used for the analysis of the chemical composition of the coating material of each glitter. The examination results revealed that 8 glitters out of 12 glitters were not sharing the common origin each other. Also, two glitters found from two separate classroom chairs share common microscopic and FTIR spectroscopic characteristics which indicating two glitters share common origin. The record of the students who had used the classrooms was traced and the authors could find that the classrooms where the same glitters were found were shared by a group of students who listen to the same class. This result implies that the path of the involved people should be considered while assessing the value of trace evidence.
