  • To resolve land demand by the development of various industries and the cityward tendency of population, the construction of ultra-soft ground that is unused in the past has been progressing with activity. The ultra-soft ground has very small shear strength and large deformation, so leads to many problems in ground improvement in construction. In order to dispose of these problems, it is necessary to develope the chemical materials that can be applied to the surface stabilization of ultra-soft ground. In this study, the new ground treatment that is using cement and SCS is compared, analyzed with existing ground treatment. In addition, through the laboratory tests that check the characteristic of congealment and strength, the application of SCS in field is affirmed.

  • This paper is concerned with an numerical analysis of electromagnetic wave propagation from randomly rough surfaces as a desert, sea surface and so on. We propose discrete ray tracing method (DRTM) for analysis of characteristics of wave propagation along one dimensional (1D) and two dimensional (2D) random rough surfaces. The point of the present method is to discretize not only rough surface but also ray tracing. This technique helps saving computer memories and does simplifying ray searching algorithm resulting in saving computation time. Numerical calculations are carried out for 1D and 2D random rough surfaces and electric field distributions are shown to check the effectiveness of the proposed DRTM.

  • A hydrological drought index, MSWSI (Modified Surface Water Supply Index) was suggested based on SWSI (Surface Water Supply Index). With the available data of spatially distributed observation station of precipitation, dam storage, stream water level and natural groundwater level, South Korea was divided into 32 regions. This was conducted to represent the calculated index as a spatially distributed information. Monthly MSWSI was evaluated for the period of 1974 and 2001. It is necessary to compare this result with PDSI (Palmer Drought Severity Index) and SPI (Standard Precipitation Index), and check the applicability of the suggested index in our hydrological drought situation.

  • In this paper, I have developed a high-speed and high-resolution measuring device in order to check the performance of drycell. The system is developed for the drycell manufacturing plant. Measuring time is one of key factors to inference on the production speed. So the developed system is designed to generate the classified result up to 1200ea/min. In the other words, each product can be classified within 25ms. There have been many studies to estimate both state of charge as well as state of health, such as OCV (Open Circuit Voltage), SC (Short Circuit) and measuring impedance with frequency pulse. But those methods take a few second due to surface discharge. To overcome the phenomenon, I developed the method to engage the reverse current to two electrodes of battery. As a result, I could achieve to measure the indigenous capacity without the problem of surface discharge.

  • Locations and emission characteristics of noise source of motor vehicles are great important factors to control the road traffic noise in effective ways. From results of this study on emission characteristics of engine and exhaust noise, we could find that every noise emission of different kind of vehicles has smilar pattern. The main emission locations of engine noise for the front of vehicle became the space between the road surface and bottom of the body and radiator grill, and for the side of vehicle became the space between the road surface and bottom nearby the front wheel. In case of exhaust noise of passenger-car and light truck, all the highest sound intensity level located near surface of road. But it is hard to conclude the height of noise source of driving vehicles with only results of this study. So further studies are needed to check the emission characteristics of noise.

  • Alloy 600 and Alloy 82/182 materials have been used widely in PWR plants. But these materials are known to be susceptible to PWSCC(Primary Water Stress Corrosion Cracking). Recently, there have been several PWSCC events in major components due to repair welding, because repair welding in the dissimilar metal welds during the construction increases residual stress significantly on the inner surface of welds. In this paper, various residual stress analyses for repair welding were performed using FEM to check the effect of repair welding on residual stress distributions in PZR safety/relief nozzle. The results indicate that for inside surface repair welding, high tensile residual stress is developed on the inside surface of the nozzles.

  • In Korea, the temperature of winter seasons are really severe and cause lot's of snow-falling and iceing in the pavements. Several de-iceing mehtod have generally been adopted to melt the ice on the surface of pavement. Therefore, the Study of experimental in the first stage was given to the verification of the icers's effects. First, Contrete and asphalt pavement specimens were made and scattered with a CaC2-deicers. then 3cm and 5cm thickness of artificial snow were prepared on the surface of specimens. It reveals that the early calorification due to de- icers as high as the temperature of laboratory increases within about 10 minutes and last for more then 2 hours and the test of ice-formation on the surface of contrete and asphalt specimen due to snow leads to the similar rate of freezing time about 20 minutes. Second, three kinds of de-icers, such as CaC2 CaC2+Nacl, Cacl Flaket are rested in the snowy highway to check the iceing-resistance. The CaC2 is proved to be the most effective de-icers so far.

  • Silver is an inexpensive precious metal and is used in various jewelry in Asia. Although silver has high potential, it has corrosion resistance that is vulnerable to boiling sulfuric acid and nitric acid. So, silver research is needed to prevent the corrosion with environment. But silver corrosion is not studied. sulfuric acid make the uniform corrosion and chloride ion make the pitting corrosion. ICCP inhibits the corrosion because it offset electrons. This study used a potential from - 4 V to 4 V to check the effect of potential. Corrosion rate is lowet at -1 V.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze effects of filtering system of cutting fluid which is used for machining silicon electrode. For the research, different sizes of filter clothes are applied to check grain size of sludge of cutting fluid. Surface roughness of machined workpiece, depth of damage inside of silicon electrode, and suspended solids of cutting fluid are experimented and analyzed. From these experiments, it is verified that filtering system of cutting fluid is very important factor for machining. Results of this study can affect various benefits to the semiconductor industry for better productivity and better atmospheric pollution in workplace.

  • Some surface defects make the weak quality of steel materials. To limit these defects, we advocate a one-stage detector model RetinaNet among diverse detection algorithms in deep learning. There are several backbones in the RetinaNet model. We acknowledged two backbones, which are ResNet50 and VGG19. To validate our model, we compared and analyzed several traditional models, one-stage models like YOLO and SSD models and two-stage models like Faster-RCNN, EDDN, and Xception models, with simulations based on steel individual classes. We also performed the correlation of the time factor between one-stage and two-stage models. Comparative analysis shows that the proposed model achieves excellent results on the dataset of the Northeastern University surface defect detection dataset. We would like to work on different backbones to check the efficiency of the model for real world, increasing the datasets through augmentation and focus on improving our limitation.
