In this paper, an approximate optimization program based on GUI(graphic user interface) environment is developed. This program is coded by using Fortran and Visual basic. Fortran is used to Progress approximate optimization process. Visual basic is used to make user environment for user to use conveniently. Inside of this program, it uses two independent programs. One is commercial program, ANSYS, and the other is optimization program, PLBA(Pshenichny-Lim-Belegundu Arora). The former is used to obtain approximate equation of stress and displacement of a structure. The latter is used to solve approximate optimization. This algorithm uses second-order information of a function and active set strategy. This program is connecting ANSYS and PLBA. And it progress the process repeatedly until it obtain optimum value. As a method of approximate optimization, sequential design domain(SDD) is introduced. SDD starts with a certain range which is offseted from midpoint of an initial design domain and then SDD of the next step is determined by optimal point of a prior step.

A three-dimensional method of analysis is presented for determining the free vibration frequencies and mode shapes of hollow bodies of revolution (i.e., thick shells), not limited to straight line generators or constant thickness. The middle surface of the shell may have arbitrary curvatures, and the wall thickness may vary arbitrarily. Displacement components$U_\Phi, U_z, U_\theta$ in the meridional, normal and circumferential directions, respectively, are taken to be sinusoidal in time, periodic in$\theta$, and algebraic polynomials in the$\Phi$and z directions. Potential(strain) and kinetic energies of the entire body are formulated, and upper bound values of the frequencies are obtained by minimizing the frequencies. As the degrees of the polynomials are increased, frequencies converge to the exact values. Novel numerical results are presented for two types of thick conical shells and thick spherical shell segments having linear thickness variations. Convergence to four digit exactitude is demonstrated for the first five frequencies of both types of shells. The method is applicable to thin shells, as well as thick and very thick ones.

This study focuses on the design of the tapered joints of a wind power turbine. The main variables of the tapered joint are the transmitted torque, shaft diameter, contact area of the tapered ring, and tightening torque of the bolts, which applies a compressive pressure from the hub to the shaft. The stress distribution of the taper fit was calculated under axisymmetric plane strain conditions because of the small taper angle. The axial displacement of the clamp can be calculated from the radial elastic deformation and the taper angle. The stress field of each ring is obtained from the cylinder stress equation. To verify the accuracy of the calculation, finite element (FE) analysis was performed, and the results of the calculation and FE analysis were compared. The hoop stress of the tapered surface showed a discrepancy of approximately 10, but the trends of the stress distributions of each component and the relative movement obtained by FE analysis were in good agreement with the analytical calculation results.

In the electric power supplying industry, outdoor sealing end (pothead) is used and sometimes it is necessary to check the seismic qualification analysis or test which is intended to demonstrate that the equipment have adequate integrity to withstand stress of the specified seismic event and still performs their function. And since the pothead is mounted on the supporting jig, the avoidance of resonance between the pothead and jig is required. In order to design jig, three types of optimization are performed to get the minimum weight while satisfying the natural frequency constraint using ANSYS. Optimal array, position and thickness of truss members of the jig are obtained through topology, shape and sizing optimization process, respectively. And seismic analysis of the pothead on the jig for given RRS acceleration computes the displacement and stress of the pothead which shows the safety of the pothead. The obtained natural frequency, mass, and member thickness of the jig are compared with those of the reference jig which was used for seismic experimental test. The numerical results of the jig in the research is more optimized than the jig used in the experimental test.

The etiology of mesiodens is unknown but the most widely accepted theory is the hyperactivity of the dental lamina. Complications of mesiodens are delayed or prevented eruption of maxillary central incisors, displacement or rotation of permanent teeth, crowding of affected region, abnormal diastema or permanent space closure, dilaceration or abnormal root development of permanent teeth, primordial or follicular cyst formation, root resorption of adjacent teeth, eruption into nasal cavity. If mesiodens rotate the maxillary central incisors, space deficiency is not common and relapse is very common. So overcorrection is needed. To prevent the rotational relapse, early treatment, overcorrection, long retention period, properly formed proximal surface, use of coupled force, and surgical techniques have been suggested. The authors present two cases, whose chief complain were severely rotated maxillary incisors by mesiodens, treated by orthodontic and surgical technique and showed good results.
Vibrational problems in the domestic Small Horizontal Axis Wind Turbines (SHAWT) are due to flap wise vibrations caused by varying wind velocities acting perpendicular to its blade surface. It has been reported that monitoring the structural health of the turbine blades requires special attention as they are key elements of a wind power generation, and account for 15-20% of the total turbine cost. If this vibration problem is taken care, the SHAWT can be made as commercial success. In this work, Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) wires made of Nitinol (Ni-Ti) alloys are embedded into the Glass Fibre Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) wind turbine blade in order to reduce the flapwise vibrations. Experimental study of Nitinol (Ni-Ti) wire characteristics has been done and relationship between different parameters like current, displacement, time and temperature has been established. When the wind turbine blades are subjected to varying wind velocity, flapwise vibration occurs which has to be controlled continuously, otherwise the blade will be damaged due to the resonance. Therefore, in order to control these flapwise vibrations actively, a non-linear current controller unit was developed and fabricated, which provides actuation force required for active vibration control in smart blade. Experimental analysis was performed on conventional GFRP and smart blade, depicted a 20% increase in natural frequency and 20% reduction in amplitude of vibration. With addition of active vibration control unit, the smart blade showed 61% reduction in amplitude of vibration.

This paper have calculated a relative heights of an each station using the data which were observed by GPS permanent stations(Chejudo, Homigoj, Jumunjin, Marado, Palmido, Ulengdo, Youndo) established in Korea. We performed spectrum analysis with a calculated relative heights by CLEAN algorithm. Through these process, we estimated vertical displacement of earth surface by semi-dinural ocean tidal loading components, and compared them with the results which were calculated by improving ocean tide model(NA099jb) for adjacent seas around Japan and Korea. As the result of this study, we determined the ocean tidal loading components with loading effects of $M_2$ and $N_2$, and we noted that the amplitude and the phase lags of ocean tidal loading components from observed GPS data were almost equal to values calculated from ocean tide models. However, the loading components about semi-diurnal tide $S_2$, $K_2$ couldn't estimate because of periods. Also, the diurnal ocean tide loading components were not considered, because the noise level have increased during the diurnal frequency.
Impression taking is a very important procedure in complete denture fabrication for reproduction of the tissue surface from which obtain retention and support of denture base. Therefore, we can not construct retentive denture without precise impression taking. Retention in complete denture can be obtained by the closest contact between denture base and underlying tissue, maximum coverage and proper displacement of the border tissue for peripheral sealing. Therefore, it is very important to take impression of the border tissue displaced properly. Nowadays, impression of the border tissue is mainly taken by the border molding techniques by means of manual muscle trimming, but due to various muscle trimming methods as clinicians, it is difficult to select proper method. This technique is also bodersome to do and time-consuming procedure. Retention is also likely reduced, because of the recording excessive muscle movement than actural physiological border tissue movement. Therefore, the impression technique that records actual physiologic functional muscle movement is helpful to increase denture retention and easy to do. We named this technique a functional border molding technique. This technique is originally introduced by D. J. Neill and R. I. Nairn in 1968. We tried to fabricate complete denture by the impression by means of functional border molding technique for better retention and the convenience, and obtained good results.
To make uniform pressure distributed over the contact surface was necessary to cold pad batch dyeing machine. In this study, to confirm characteristic of flexibility and the contact pressure distribution through experimental analysis of padder roll were controlled by hydraulic cell. When there were no load pressure only inner pressure, the value of displacement in the center of padder were greater than the end of the padder. The results of this study showed that the padder had the optimum value of inner pressure for uniform contact pressure distribution. Measuring the contact pressure in a padder system were driven by using a pre-scale film. Uniform contact pressure distribution of cell padder were a linearly with load pressure and inner pressure. When the load pressure was less than 8 tons, the inner pressure for the uniform contact pressure was 1~4 bar. The padder roll performance curves proposed in this study were available for practical production environments and various roll designs.
On the basis of design theory of soil inversion, two types of moldboard plow with secondary soil mover was designed and constructed to invert furrow slice at same position with furrow bottom. A series of soil bin experiment was carried to investigate the performance of prototypes. First prototype of new concept plow showed two kinds of problems during the preliminary experiment. For the plowing depth of 6cut the prototype did not invert the furrow slice, instead it just cut furrow bottom and the furrow slice returned to the original position. For the plowing depth of 8cm, there was soil clogging problem at the rear part of plow. From the above results it was concluded that the first prototype can not be used for the inversion of furrow slice at same position with furrow bottom. Second prototype could invert furrow slice at the same position with furrow bottom, but the performance was affected by soil moisture content soil hardness and plowing speed very much. For the higher soil moisture content, for the higher soil hardness and higher plowing speed, the prototype showed higher soil inversion performance. For the second prototype the inversion ratio was almost 100%, inversion angle was in the range of 90 to 100 degree and side displacement was less than 4 cm. But the furrow slice was not continuous, it was cut in the length of 30 to 40 cm. The reason why the furrow slice was cut in that length is blamed for the design of moldboard surface. The specific draft of prototype was in the range of 37.24 kN/㎡ to 42.14 kN/㎡ this value is a little higher than that of the conventional plow, or from 30.38 kN/㎡ to 33.32 kN/㎡. But the difference was not so big. The inversion performance of the second prototype for the field experiment was much better than that of soil bin experiment due to the better soil and operational conditions. Sticky and compacted soil conditions, and higher plowing speed was suitable for the plowing operation of the second prototype
