Modern companies have been facing devastating impacts from unexpected events such as demand uncertainties, natural disasters, and terrorist attacks due to the increasing global supply chain complexity. This paper proposes a multi stage logistic network model under disruption risk. To formulate the problem practically, we consider the effect of continuity rate, which is defined as a percentage of ability of the facility to provide backup allocation to customers in the abnormal situation and affect the investments and operational costs. Then we vary the fixed charge for opening facilities and the operational cost according to the continuity rate. The operational level of the company decreases below the normal condition when disruption occurs. The backup source after the disrup-tion is recovered not only as soon as possible, but also as much as possible. This is a concept of the business continuity plan to reduce the recovery time objective such a continuity rate will affect the investments and op-erational costs. Through numerical experiments, we have shown the proposed idea is capable of designing a resilient logistic network available for business continuity management/plan.
The purpose of this study is to identify the drivers of supply chain vulnerability and internal/external disruptive events and to verify the moderating effect of SCRM to mitigate negative disruption impacts. The analysis results of 182 SMEs are as follows. First, SC vulnerability proceeded from excessive efficiency. Second, the probability and severity of internal factors were higher than that of external factors. In particular, the priority of responding to risks arising from the supply chain process was higher than the value chain within the firm. Finally, the higher the level of risk management in the supply chain, the more positively the negative disruption impact was mitigated. This study is valuable in providing practical clues to the decision-making of a firm's managers and policymakers responding to supply chain risks.
In Korea, base metals such as lead, zinc, copper, tin, nickel, and aluminum have a polarized supply and demand structure. Despite the presence of world-class producers of lead, zinc, and copper, and their production is insufficient. And there are no domestic producers of tin, nickel, and aluminum, Thus, most of the domestic demand is dependent on imports. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare for the risk of supply interruption, such as the disruption of the import of base metals or interruption of domestic production. In this study, we estimated the quantity required to respond to the risk of import disruption, the quantity to which the market can respond, and the quantity to which the government needs to respond for six base metals (copper, lead, zinc, aluminum, nickel, and tin).
Since the 9.11 terror attack, the event which caused supply chain disruption, supply chain security has become more important than ever before. With this as a momentum, a customs supply chain security paradigm emerged intended to guarantee secure flow of cargo across boarder. Under this circumstances Incoterms(R) 2010 rules have allocated obligations between the buyer and seller to obtain or to render assistances in obtaining security clearances. Thus, security related obligations such as providing advance manifest information is the mandatory requirements for any export and import. The impact on the seller and buyer of security related obligations under the Incoterms(R) 2010 rules environment is obvious. Assistance to provide the security information in advance has become indispensable obligations to the seller and buyer. As such assistances is at the cost and risk of the party responsible for the clearances of the goods, the choice of recognised partner and compliance with the relevant security program, in order to enjoy the relevant benefits, becomes paramount.

Recently, shifting channel power is forcing supply chain to take back products. As you can imagine returned product has always been a problem for all parties in the supply chain due to the disruption in operations and a headache in processing returned products. Therefore, every member of supply chain should respond to reverse logistics activities particularly for the return handling process. Under such a strong demand of efficient and cost effective reverse logistics activities, particularly for the return handling process, the information system should be implemented and participated in intensively. This study analyzed the reverse logistics information factors for environmental conscious logistics system limited to returns from customers/consumers. The results provide reverse logistics information factors based on the return handling process which can be used as benchmarking for companies seeking implementation of an efficient return handling system.

There has been a major change in the way of life and thinking of all mankind due to covid19. In particular, managerial issues related to supply chain such as global supply chain disruption, and trade friction among countries are drawing the attention. Accordingly, a number of studies are being conducted on the supply chain challenges and solutions to overcome the covid19 crisis, but published research on the impact of covid19 on supply chain management is lacking. In this study, network text analysis is conducted mainly on news articles and this study summarizes the issues related to supply chain management in the era of covid19. The trend analysis results indicated that actively discussed area was global supply chain restructuring and confirmed that main topics are re-shoring, applications of new technology, and the new normal in supply chains. The findings are expected to help expand the scope of research in supply chain management research in the covid19 era.
The outbreak of the novel coronavirus disease in 2020 caused a global semiconductor supply shortage and disruption in the production of devices such as iPhones owing to China's quarantine lockdown. Thus, Apple is diversifying its production bases from China to countries like India and Vietnam. The company is also accelerating semiconductor development to guarantee a stable supply, reduce design costs, and customize semiconductors with high quality and outstanding specifications for their products to outperform devices that use general-purpose semiconductors. Following the mobile application processor, Apple is releasing world-class semiconductors, such as the M1 and M2 chips that play the role of central processing units.
The role of glyoxylate bypass in a lysine-producing Corynebacterium lactofermentum strain was analyzed. Unlike the wild type, the strain expressed enzymes of glyoxylate bypass during growth in the fermentation broth containing glucose as the carbon source. To evaluate the importance of glyoxylate bypass in the strain, we disrupted chromosomal aceA by using a cloned fragment of the gene. Site-specific disruption of aceA which codes for the isocitrate lyase, the first enzyme of the bypass, was confirmed by Southern blot analysis. The aceA mutant strain completely lost isocitrate lyase activity and ability to grow in a minimal medium containing acetate as the sole carbon source. The mutant strain was similar to its parental strain in growth characteristics and produced comparable amounts of lysine in shake flasks containing glucose as the carbon source. The amount of oxaloacetate accumulated in the fermentation medium was similar for both strains, suggesting that expression of glyoxylate bypass does not necessarily lead to the increase in intracellular oxaloacetate. These data clearly demonstrate that glyoxylate bypass does not function as one of the routes of carbon supply for lysine production in the strain. It appears that the leakiness of the glyoxylate bypass in the strain might be the result of a secondary mutation which arose during previous strain development by random mutagenesis.
It is general that the impact of supply chain risk spread out to the whole network along the connected structure. Due to the risk propagation the probability to exposure a certain risk is affected by not only the characteristics of each risk factor but also network structure. It means that the structural connectivity among vertices should be considered while designing supply chain network in order to minimize disruption cost. In this research, the betweenness centrality has been utilized to quantitatively assess the structural vulnerability. The betweenness centrality is interpreted as the index which can express both the probability of risk occurrence and propagation of risk impact. With the structural vulnerability index, it is possible to compare the stability of each alternative supply chain structure and choose the better one.

Mine drainage from coal mines is mostly acidic, polluted and/or contaminated, even if its quantity has increased substantially during recent days. This causes two kinds of problems arising at mining districts; one is the environmental disruption and the other is insufficient water supply for living, employee's bathing and industrial purposes. In order to mitigate the aforementioned problems, a specific equipment of Korea type for mine drainage purification has been developed and its prototype manufactured, followed by its applicability tests implemented at mine site. The results of the tests indicates that the new equipment developed is much lower than and economical compared to, other existing neutralization facilities at home and abroad in capital investment at installation stage, the consumption of neutralizing chemicals at operation stage and the requirements of installation site. Whangji area where the prototype water treatment equipment is installed has been sustaining a short supply of usable water, especially in dry seasons and supplementing about 40㎥ of water brought from a location farther than 4km in distance to meet water requirements. The prototype water treatment equipment is however considered capable of providing compressor cooling water in sufficient amount from winter season In the future.
